The hotel's location is excellent; it's within walking distance to the British Museum and Chinatown. There are bus stops and a subway station right downstairs, making travel very convenient. Plus, there's an MS supermarket, a fried chicken shop, and a sushi place nearby, perfect for grabbing breakfast in the morning.

Only thing good about this hotel now is location. It was my 2nd visit in 2 years and it has undergone a management change. All reception desks gone and replaced by check in screens except for one. Asked about a week in advance to supply all details for check in including credit card details and photo id then card was swiped for 75p twice then again on arrival for £1. On arrival you have to lift your bags up the stairs in the pic or wait for a member of staff to operate the disabled lift one at a time! Room had no air con and barely slept 2 nights as no fan in room or offered to us and window is locked at 3 inches open. Was told if changed to a room with air con it would mean a charge of £40-£60, came home after first day out to find room not cleaned even though we saw cleaners there.I had to go and get towels and toilet paper and was told the rooms are only cleaned once every 4 days which is a disgrace and in this heat is surely a health hazard. Had to queue for baggage storage and told to use the restaurant I had to pay at reception first? So we just left. Gone down hill badly and trying to save money in the wrong way by affecting customer service. If this is their new standard then we wont be staying again as we have had far better service and conditions for a similar room and cheaper in the past.

The king room was old and run-down, with no air conditioning. I had to pay extra to switch to a twin room with AC. The front desk staff weren't very welcoming. Check-in is only at 3 PM, and there's an extra charge for early check-in. It's a bit unreasonable that you have to check out by 10 AM, and there's a fee for late check-out. They also charge £10 per piece of luggage for storage. The room lacked basic amenities like a kettle, cups, and an ironing board. The only plus is the convenient location right on the high street, within walking distance of most attractions.

I’ve stayed at the St Giles Hotel many times before when it was under the previous management, and I must say the difference is quite stark. I genuinely feel like now they’ve got every single opportunity to make a penny, and the whole hotel is set up to make as much money as it can while giving as little as it can to its guests. For example, we arrived at around 12pm for a 3pm check-in and wanted to leave our luggage. It now costs £10 per bag to leave your luggage at the hotel, even when you’re checking in that same day. It used to be completely free - just another way they are squeezing money out of you now. The cost-cutting doesn’t stop there. Rooms are only serviced every four days, so they won’t even make the bed unless you pay another £25 charge, which feels extortionate for what it is. If you need extra toilet roll, you have to go and collect it yourself from reception. Yet the hotel is no cheaper than it used to be. You’re simply getting significantly less for your money, and this isn’t a cheap hotel. The location is amazing, and I do want to say that all of the staff were really lovely. Considering the situation they’re working under and the company they’re working for, I genuinely have no complaints about the staff at all. They were friendly and helpful throughout. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the room was really disappointing. The bathroom wasn’t properly clean, the sink was dirty, and I actually went out and bought cleaning wipes so I could clean the sink and bathroom myself. Throughout the stay I kept finding long black hairs in the room. Considering I have long blonde hair and my husband is bald, that was honestly disgusting. The room just didn’t feel clean, and it felt like very little care had gone into preparing it. It’s also obvious that more corners are being cut. Where there used to be multiple staffed check-in desks, it’s now mostly just iPads. Everything feels geared towards reducing costs while charging guests more wherever possible. The only saving grace is that it is in a good location and it has air-conditioning. Overall, I think the quality is really poor for what you’re paying. If you’re easily frustrated by hidden costs and constant little add-on charges, I really wouldn’t recommend staying here. I was so disappointed because I’ve stayed here about five times before and always chose this hotel when visiting London. Sadly, after this experience, I can say I 100% won’t be staying again, which is a real shame.

They make you pay for a basic service of storing your luggage!! They don’t advertise this- they’ll just spring it on you£10 per item. Why? They have the space obviously so it is sheer greed to charge money for a service other hotels have. We ended up storing our luggage with Bounce app, at the tiniest souvenir shop by the British museum for cheaper than the hote. If a tiny shop can do it then why not a big hotel? Greed.

The rooms at this hotel are quite small, but the cleanliness is acceptable. The location is excellent, as it is right next to a subway station, which makes getting around very convenient. However, if you arrive before the official check-in time, the hotel charges £40 for early check-in. Alternatively, if you want to leave your luggage and come back to check in later in the afternoon, there is a fee of £10 per bag. In my opinion, this is not very fair for travelers. I’m not sure if this is standard practice in the UK, but in many other countries I’ve visited, luggage storage is usually free. This is definitely something travelers should be aware of. Additionally, the bathroom amenities are very limited. There are no toiletries provided except for body wash and shampoo.

Better than expected… because the reviews almost made me nervous … prime location with Elizabeth and Picadelly line central for shoppings… room has zero amenity and some how some outlets don’t work at all. Water shower was strong and hot enough. The heater doesn’t seem to work but lucky its mid April. The room was newly renovated … large room for 3.. I would consider staying again but the check out time is way too early and no free luggage storage (£10 each piece).
