Hotel Royal

I found the hotel to be very clean with wonderful customer service. Parking was pretty easy it’s best to call ahead and ask for them to leave a parking pass for you ahead of time to be sure you have adequate parking. The room was small with the bed taking up a lot of the room however this is a historic older hotel so that is to be expected. There is no elevator just stairs so just be prepared for that. It’s very walkable and in a safe neighborhood with plenty of food and bar options around the area. Definitely would recommend this hotel to someone looking to stay in the area I also think this hotel is more for the younger crowd I don’t think someone that is a bit older would enjoy it as much because of the smaller rooms, stairs, and busy nightlife.

Did not like- smelly (not clean) towels, Kleenex & toilet paper smelled like they had been sprayed with feces, sheets did not appear to be cleaned, no hot water until I complained, controls for heat were not in the room, Elaine Switzer

We booked this on short notice when other hotels were full to go to the nearby Long Beach Convention Center and paid a premium. Not a great experience but it worked. Don't overpay for this hotel. Things you should know: • Cleanliness was not great. The room's floor did not feel great and there was some visible mess. Bed was okay. Bathroom needed some love (exposed wood that just stains by the mirror). Hairdryer exhaust was covered in lint. AC unit had the "clean filter" light on when we arrived. • No elevator here. Rooms are up 1 or 2 flights of stairs. They're wide enough that it's not that hard to get suitcases up if you're able. We weren't offered a porter at the check-in desk. • $100 deposit is taken at check-in. • Access is with physical keys with door handle locks. Didn't feel as safe as the heavy locks on modern hotels but it was probably fine. Since you could hear through it easily, it felt a little off. • Walls are very thin, I could hear next door's TV. • Rooms are not made up/trash removed each day. You get your room and you're on your own. • Bed is a little small compared to what hotels are offering these days. • We went in the winter but there is an AC unit in the window. The downside is that it lets through outside noise quite easily. • Shower ******. The head had a few equally awful settings and the shower curtain would either cling to you or let the water out into the bathroom.

The hotel is charming and well-set up, and the walkable area around it has so many amenities that make the stay at the hotel so much easier. The neighborhood felt reasonable safe, and the staff was helpful and friendly.

Great Hotel, Great value! Hotel Royal has the highest quality rooms and an exceptional staff for such an affordable price. The hospitality here is unbeatable. I truly mean this. The staff is amazing and goes above and beyond what any normal hotel offers. The rooms are so Cozy and beautiful. They also go above and beyond with their amenities like the full kitchen behind the lobby stocked with everything you need to prepare a meal (e.g. pots, pans, plates, utensils, stove, oven, sink etc) available for guests to use. Hotel Royal is 10/10 A . If you're visiting Long Beach and need a place to stay, look no further than the Hotel Royal. ❤️❤️❤️

Registration and check-in were easy, with excellent text communication of all the needed details before I arrived. I liked the chic industrial style of the King-sized room, but an area rug would have been nice on the concrete flooring, as well as a thorough sweeping of the floor. (It was raining when my guest and I checked in, and our shoes may have tracked in some grit from the street). There are so many places to shop and eat nearby! We had a lovely dinner at Sevilla, on Pine, and picked up some sodas at the corner grocery store. In the morning we had an excellent breakfast at the Breakfast Bar on Atlantic. The walkable neighborhood was relatively quiet and clean (perhaps because of the weather?), and the blackout curtains allowed us to sleep in on Sunday morning. Definitely a reasonably priced, pleasant place to stay in downtown Long Beach!

The look and style of the property was what peaked my interest. The staff was great! The room was very small, but just enough to feel comfortable for a place to just lay our head down.

Pros: Friendly stiff Clean rooms Budget friendly Cons: No elevator our room was on the 3rd floor! Very small rooms no room to move around. Shower extremely small…not big girl friendly!

Cute little boutique hotel with plenty of food options around. The rooms are small but quaint and nicely decorated. The staff was attentive and very nice. The room had a Keurig, microwave, and fridge and came with complimentary water. I would stay there again.
