We were delivered to the property which was appreciated and had received the instructions on how to enter same. But on this occasion the process was not working ,so we spent the next 30 mins standing outside the door trying to contact the property by phone. Had to enlist the kind help of a fellow resident to go and pick up a physical key for us. (Poor customer service) Then NO hot water - phoned to enquire if there was a trick to get this to happen. Phoned over 8 times for assistance no response. After travelling on a train for 26 hours the first thing one wants is a hot shower. It’s now 9.30 pm no shower possible and we have an early morning tour so very unhappy….

**PLEASE READ REVIEWS CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING* The price charged is extortionate for the terrible room. There was no one at the motel for check-in or to resolve any issues. The rooms were not clean, cutlery provided was dirty despite coming in a nice packet, mold in rooms, yellow stains that on walls next to bed, and bed sheet had a dead bug, the pictures say it all. Clearly the owners don't care about maintenance so don't expect a pleasant stay. Have tried to get a reasonable adjustment but the owners are not being responsive.

Wow, following our booking we received an e-mail to advise that they would forward a message on the day of arrival with room number and pin to enter room. That did not happen, arrived at the motel, no reception, need to visit another motel, 3 blocks away? Walked towards the motel. my partner called as we arrived, stating that a person had arrived at the motel to allocate rooms. Oh, wrong room, we booked the self-contained unit. Well after two couples got their rooms, we and another couple had to wait for the receptionist to return with our room and pin numbers. 10 minutes later she returned, the other couple got allocated and then she left again? I called no answer, twice i tried. After 10 minutes i tried again, wow, I got the girl after an hour of waiting I was advised she was setting the pin number and would message me. Another 10 minutes wow, I got the pin..

This place has no onsite manager. We were there for 6 nights and the unit was not cleaned once. The bathroom has mould and mildew and the floor hasn’t been washed in ages by the look of it. Crockery and cutlery is washed by the previous visitors in the bathroom sink without the benefit of detergent. The rooms are not made up daily except for replenishing coffee and sugar. The courtyard is filled with leaves and not swept once. Online rate was $141 per night. They charged Flight Centre $206 per night and Flight Centre charged us $260 per night. A fleabag motel at an exorbitant rate. Both Abajaz and Flight Centre are shameful.

Yes check in is easy and all done over text with a key code which is efficient though very impersonal. We’ve stayed in many motels in our lives and this is the worst. External areas grubby. And inside the room was a disgrace. I appreciate we are in tropical outback but no where else have we stayed during our 2 months travelling the length of Australia with so many insects and more! Within 5 minutes of arriving we’d swatted about 10 mozzies. There was a dragon fly and huge spider in the bathroom which I’m pretty sure I saw crawling from a gap in the waste pipe. Multiple crickets, cicadas, beetles, cockroaches etc (don’t look under the beds - no attempt to clean in the nooks and crannies). And the highlight was a little frog hopping round the room and under the bed. And the smell… a very musty disgusting smell most likely from cigarettes. Considering the price we paid for this room we expected much more. This was a serious let down.

Average room but with cool air conditioning and basic facilities. Needed a bit more of a clean-Bugs/insects present on floor and surfaces quite dirty had to wipe over before using with wet wipes. Space for a cot if traveling with newborn. Tv and kettle facilities available.

The room was very run down and NOT up to par, nothing like the pictures on their website. The only good thing about Abajaz is the location. For the price we paid, I would definitely not stay here again!!!!

The Abajaz is very, very overpriced! No room service, bed gets pulled up in a fashion - that’s about it. Mould every where in bathroom 🤮. $186 a night for this is a joke. Much of the interior needs to be refurbished. I’m surprised it meets health standards.

Remote control of the establishment meant no human contact except the cleaners really did not appear to have proper knowledge of their tasks. Tired old joint that did not live up to the advertisements.

Absolutely disgusting motel toilet was filthy paint off tiles flaking in shower dust and grime everywhere, hand basin taps with green grime from not being cleaned, did not make beds or clean room, sending photos to Longreach council so health inspector can inspect property. outside area also filthy mud outside room and not cleaned the whole time we were there. Would not recommend this motel to anybody

Clean and well equipped But the rooms need refreshing, paint work and walls need attention. Blackout curtains required attention.Covered parking is a bonus especially when it's raining. Not having staff on site could be a problem.

Paying $300 dollars a night you would expect 5 star accommodation for a country motel,not 1 star accommodation.You have to supply toilet paper and the shower is over the toilet.This obviously a case of price gouging

We requested an early entry, as otherwise you can’t get in until 4pm. No response. You need a code to get in, we arrived, but didn’t have it. We rang, and fortunately the phone was answered, and we were given the code. However, it didn’t work. Rang again, we were given code, which worked. Unfortunately, the beds had been used, wet towels on bathroom floor, dirty bench….he said we could go in room next door. Room was clean, apart from the bugs, both alive and dead. Also had an incessant dripping tap…We had booked a room with two double beds for a very specific reason, due to a hospital stay, however, neither room had this. We had also requested a quiet room, didn’t happen. Curtains don’t cover windows, so lights get in. Sent him a message, zero response. Not even extremely poor customer service…there isn’t any! No staff on site, and clearly don’t bother to read what customer has booked and paid for. Very overpriced for what we got, which wasn’t what we had booked. I would not recommend staying here, or the other motels run by the same people. However, the aircon was great, and it is located in a good position, it also has shaded parking, pity about lack of service though.

Very friendly and helpful lady on the phone, changed our room to where we could park in front of the room - without my requesting. I was just trying to check in. Clean room, two beds. Room had a microwave. Easy to get to, great find!

Make sure you read all of the recent reviews before booking accommodation here - don't believe the 4.2 average rating! Clearly the new owners don't care much and are happy to charge an outrageous amount for a night's accommodation - well above what it is worth. For a 5-star nightly rate, expect a 1-star experience. Very basic accommodation in aged facilities that are not well maintained. As others have reported, there are no onsite staff, and the hotel is run from a distance with a text message sent to give you the PIN for the door lock to your room. You can't cancel your booking within 7 days otherwise we would have stayed somewhere else.
