Sijishan Resort

While the location is beautiful, the overall experience was poor. The furniture is extremely old and damaged. Furthermore, the resort is isolated, and no one from the staff speaks English, which made communication and getting assistance very difficult.

The hotel is right next to Jianshanling Great Wall entrance. Perfect for that. It isn't near the Water Town, but it has its own laid back and quiet charm. There are decent facilities but the pool is sub-par. The staff, especially the lobby receptionist lady, were lovely. Breakfast was a little disappointing, perhaps that's because there weren't many guests there when we stayed.

I loved my stay here. The staff are super friendly and go out of their way to assist you. The rooms are lovely. It is super close to and has a view of the Great Wall (both 金山岭Jinshanling and 司马台Simatai). Breakfast was included. You can also see the Great Wall from the resort. There is a great hiking trail on the property and hot springs as well as other activities. Any issues we had were resolved promptly and professionally. We had so much fun here and I hope to come back someday. We took the train from Beijing North to Gubeiko and then a taxi the rest of the way. We sadly got scammed by the driver, but the hotel helped arrange a much more reasonable taxi for us when we left. I recommend contacting them should you need to be picked up or dropped off.

We were very happy with our stay. Great place for families that need the extra room. We had an apartment over 2 floors, 2 bedrooms and a large living room. Perfect for our family of 5. The breakfast included was extremely generous! There was so much food we couldn’t finish. We also ate at the restaurant a few times and thoroughly enjoyed the food. This resort is close to the Great Wall. A little bit far to walk, but the staff were happy to drop us off at the entrance and then pick us up again. This was very helpful! We will definitely stay again.

The rooms were super basic and the beds were hard for the very high price. The staff seemed astonished we wanted to check in in the evening and sent us to what seemed like their spare apartment. It said “foreigner” on the key - why are there separate rooms for different nationalities? The advertisement says there is a hot spring but when we were ready to jump in we were told there is none. Staff seemed totally chaotic and overwhelmed. Got balance - breakfast was ok. Overalls very disappointing experience. Will not go back again for sure.

We booked two nights at this hotel. What we liked was that it was very spacious, and also really clean. Also the airconditioning was easy to setup and worked really well so we could sleep good! It was also very nice that the hotel has this free shuttle to the trainstation in Gubeikou: they didn’t tell us about it though, I had to find out myself when I asked them to call us a taxi. I do have to point out that this place was a little weird. We were here in off-season, so I understand that maybe some services/amneties are not in use, but at some moments we felt a bit unwelcome. They promote their café with specialty coffee in their photos, but this was closed most of the time. We managed to order coffee two times, but the staff acted as if this was really a hastle for them. Also, while the room was big and spacious, the water in the shower took a very very long time to get warm and even when it did it switched a lot between hot and cold. Locationwise, not the best: there’s no restaurants around. Only one other homestay (25-30 min walk) offered food - that was great. Also, there is no didi here, so you have to find your way around asking local people to take you somewhere and pay them. Maybe the hotel offers this as well? I don’t know, they didn’t tell us. The jinshanling Great Wall is beautiful, you can reach it by foot in about 1h. In short, it was okay. But really too expensive for what you get.

I would like to highlight three things in which I felt were very pleasant during my stay at the lodging. First, I was pleasantly surprised at the service they offered. When my family and I were staying at lodging, the workers were extremely heartwarming and kind. They were willing to answer any questions we had about the attractions nearby and even drove us to the Jinshan Ling Great Wall of china Nearby. Second, I would like to highlight the amenities and activities offered at the lodging. Although we only scratched the surface of the activities they offered. The lodging provided us with countless options. From having a mini movie theatre as well as pool & billiards room, they also offered a wide range of outdoor adventures such as kayaking and fishing which will surely enrich your stay there. Furthermore, the amenities themselves at the room we were staying in were exceptional. The lodging was spacious and provided us with separate rooms to stay in, making our stay an extremely pleasant one. Lastly, I would like to highlight the food at the lodging itself. At every lodging one books I’m sure one would look forward to having delectable food right within a stone’s throw away. Needless to say, the food offered by the lodging from breakfast to dinner was both delicious and affordable. I would highly recommend booking a stay here should you want to visit the attractions in the area but don’t forget to take time to enjoy and experience the adventures offered by the lodging too!
