The San Luca Palace is an older period property within the walls of Lucca. In some places it looks a little tired, but is clean and comfortable. I liked the location, and it was very easy to walk from here into the walled town - the town is very picturesque with lots of dining options. The bed was absolutely huge - I think it was 2 doubles together. Our room had an alcove with a small settee, and was comfortable.

The AC in my room was not working but they provided a fan and I was comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, good, free Internet connection and great bathroom.

Very Disappointing For what was supposed to be a 4 star hotel, it was very disappointing. The first morning when we went to have a shower the water was cold. We contacted reception and they said they would have to check that it was switched on. The internet was problematic. Every time we got back to the room and tried to access the internet we had to go through the login process again. The breakfast offering was good with a large range to choose from but sadly, if you weren't there in the first hour, it was not replenished and as a result the offer became quite small. We stayed in a hotel in Viareggio which ticked every box. This one did not.

Great hotel with large rooms and very comfortable. It is very walkable and also it is easy for taxis / shuttles to get to since it is not too far into the pedestrian area (still within the old city and very close to lots of shopping and restaurants).

Really enjoyed my stay at the Palace Hotel. I walked the wall around Lucca my first day. Went to the Opera performance, took a guided tour of the town. Plenty of small interesting shops. Enjoy your travels. Ray.

Staff was warm and friendly. Breakfast was better than expected. Just wish I had brought my own pillow.
