Meininger Hotel Lyon Centre Berthelot

Very good hotel in Lyon! We stayed 2 nights, good option for couples and families. It is located in a location where you can easily reach the center of Lyon by both metro and tram. The room was large and very comfortable. Every need has been taken into consideration in the bathroom. It was my best experience so far as an open buffet breakfast in Europe. Every point of the hotel contains different designs. The reception was very helpful during my stay. There is a room where you can put your luggage after check out. There are markets and nice cafes around it. Among the city hotels, it is the most convenient, clean and comfortable hotel that I have stayed in so far.

I booked this hotel for 3 nights with my friends. This hotel is very recommended, it has a free bagagerie service where you can put your baggages before check-in and after check-out. Next to the hotel there is a boulangerie and a lot of useful stores and restaurants. The drawbacks are that there is one common kitchen for all the people in the hotel, but it’s good there is one !

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is rather basic and the breakfast had a good spread. Towels are not changed daily so if you wanted to have new towels you will have to pay for them. The hotel is located near a train station although it is not the main station that most trains go to which is Lyon Part Deux so we had to take the metro and walk to the hotel. There are many eateries nearby and on weekends you can visit the outdoor market at Jean Mace.

We had just a perfect stay. The room is large enough and very clean. The staff was warm and friendly, we definitely would come back if we had to be in Lyon. You have a Guest Kitchen, which is very handy if you want to cook something for yourself or grab a tea. Thanks.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! Shortly after booking this on a major platform, I received a confirmation email from the hotel asking me to pay in Bitcoin. I knew immediately that it was a scam and cancelled the reservation but was still charged which is unacceptable. I contacted both the hotel and the booking platform and have still gotten little more than a weak apology. I stay in hotels about 40-50 nights a year booking on various sites and have never had something like this happen before!

Unfortunately, humanity is losing its moral compass. It launched a program of self-destruction. We stop distinguishing between black and white, good and evil. This hotel is definitely not about humanity. Therefore, everything else in it has no meaning and sense. Look for places where kindness and warmth reign. This is not the case here.

Fantastic budget hotel in an ideal position to explore Lyon. We stayed here for the rugby World Cup and it was ideal. Extremely clean with professional and polite staff all of whom spoke excellent English. The rooms were extremely clean especially the bathroom. Nice little bar area with pool table and TV was a lovely surprise and the breakfast was fresh and plentiful. All we could ask for really!

Great friendly welcome to this modern hotel. Lara in particular was very helpful and supportive. Room very clean and comfy - good bathroom.. Could do with more storage for clothes though as we had to keep ****rs etc in our cases. Breakfast great. Location very good with connections to public transport.

Stayed here for four nights in early April 2023 as a family of four (13 and 9 year old). Checked in just after the 3pm period and reception were friendly and gave us two key cards without being prompted which was great. They explained about the guest kitchen and how to access the fridge to store any perishable items. The room itself is compact but roomy enough. The kids loved having the bunk beds and the beds were comfortable although the pillows were a little insubstantial. My only complaint is the air conditioning which is not switched on until the ‘summer season’ starts which I was told was later in the month. This is standard for all hotels I have found during our holiday. The only way to cool the room was to open the window. There is a blackout screen which can lowered or raised via a switch for privacy. The road outside is noisy in the evening rush hour but the room had cooled sufficiently for the window to be closed and it does offer excellent soundproofing. The hotel is a five minute or so walk away from Jean-Macé metro and also the trams. Restaurants and boulangeries only a few minutes away so very handy. WiFi was fast enough for the kids’ devices (most importantly!) although there was none in the corner where I was sleeping! The TV had all French channels except one English news channel. We did not partake with breakfast. An enjoyable stay and I would return definitely if I was in Lyon again.
