Back home from vacation and now have time to gather my thoughts about The Schooner Motel. When we first arrived the was a VERY LOUD and rough crowd, drinking, smoking and being extremely rowdy. They had taken over one room, the small patio and the pool area. My wife was very concerned about safety. Being very tired from our trip we entered our room, while expecting an ”Old Florida” room it was not what I expected. First impression dirty stove, broken window blinds, burnt out bulb in bathroom, interesting puddle of water in the shower floor, sliding door to patio would not open, all said a little tired and worn. Oh and on the door there is a sign stating there will be no daily maid service and, I guess. if you need fresh bed linens ask and make the bed yourself. And can't forget the interesting sign above the sink ”If you leave dirty dishes you will be charged a $30 fee”. I had booked my stay through Expedia and upon arrival received a questionnaire from them wanting to know how things were going. Gave good review on two of the three questions. The bad review was based on the rowdy group of guest and room conditions. Now things get weird. The next afternoon as we returned to our room we were confronted by the owner / manager wanting to know why we gave him the bad review. While he didn't bother me he made my wife very uncomfortable. She said he seemed more concerned about the review than trying to make things right. He stated he was aware of the crowd but it was ”Big Game Night” and that was OK. I think his goal it to become an extended stay motel rather the a vacation location. All said I can not recommend the property and will probably not stay again. Was overpriced for what we got

We stayed for a month at this hotel for business in Pinellas County. The rooms are on the small side with a very limited closet space. The bed was crazy comfortable and my request for extra pillow and towels was accommodated quickly. The staff is what shines in this hotel, Brian and Nessie at the desk we’re consistently wonderful and accommodating. The bar/restaurant group is on task and friendly. The pool is very nice, with a nice spa/hot tub that is a nice retreat. Only down side is we tried to reach Jennifer in sales to arrange for a group rate, she was unresponsive to our team lead and more focused on a second property and larger groups. Definitely recommend this property in Madeira Beach
