Reviews of Abalú Design Boutique Hotel Gran Via

Classic city centre tiny rooms with a very strange "enter via the bolted-on bathroom" setup. Friendly staff but not very organised. This isn't a great hotel, the bar is not really a true bar "no, sorry, we don't have any white wine" and breakfast served in the same room is also pretty poor. No choice, just a plate with some fruit, some processed cheese and meat, and a couple of pastries. Having said that, location is very good, this is a great neighbourhood to stay in and plenty of places to eat & drink. Overall though, city centre prices and didn't feel like value for money.

An amazing little boutique hotel in a great part of town. Lots of interesting cafes nearby, a walk away to Gran Via, Abalu is surprising as it’s funky and fun decor and Alexa playing music as you enter and great big pink flamingos in your bathroom near your jacuzzi tub! Really enjoyed our stay, excellent service. The only issue we had was that they seem to have issues with their plumbing as drainage in tub and sink was very slow.

The choice of this hotel was made first of all because it is a few steps from the Gran Via and well connected to the pharmacy, supermarket and tobacconist in particular. The rooms are apparently very nice but functionally uncomfortable. Suitable for a short stay in my opinion. Quite friendly staff, breakfast 👎. I would not return.

Very bad experience, old hotel with humidity, smell in the rooms, they don't change the towels for 4 days even if they are wet, impossible to move around due to the amount of decoration, dirty mats and carpets, there is no soap, bad wifi, free TV without channels and the worst thing is construction work in the rooms at night and on weekends (illegal, you can't work on those days and at those times) you can't sleep and the reception denies it and doesn't take action, you have to call the police to stop it. Very bad experience, I don't recommend it at all!!!!

The location of the hotel is perfect. The reception is friendly and polite. The room furnishings are rather unstylish and of poor quality. The shower and toilet are not functional. The breakfast is barely sufficient. The bed is very comfortable. The price is OK.

I would never return. Terrible treatment, terrible room, terrible smells and on top of that two days later an improper charge on the credit card. After complaining several times we have had to report. Waiting for the judgment Don't fall into their traps

Cold welcome, unfriendly staff, one person completely ignored us. Zero level of service while the decor and comfort are acceptable. The room is still tiny compared to the price

We got this hotel because ours had a bad air conditioning system, so they took us to this one they said would be better... At first it was great because it looked clean and had a jacuzzi... something the hotel we had booked didn't. That's why we were so happy; it took over half an hour to check us in. After walking around Madrid all afternoon and evening, all I could think about was getting into that bathtub (jacuzzi) in the room... I filled the bathtub, so far so good, but when I turned on the jacuzzi... WHAT A STINK!!!!!! It smelled like rotten eggs... and dirt started coming out of the jacuzzi... All I could think about was my little one touching that water... I hope I don't get an infection. After all the anger, I showered and went to sleep. The next day they had cut the power to the entire street and we woke up short of air and smelling like eggs. NOTHING ELSE :)

The bathtub smelled bad. Like rotten eggs. The room was impossible to breathe anything but the smell of mold. The view was of a dirty, gloomy interior courtyard. The mattresses were so thick they would have burned your back. On the plus side, good service and a thoughtful touch at the door on the second day of our stay. And an Alexa that my kids really enjoyed. Not to be recommended.

Good location. The lady at reception was lovely. Every morning they left us an apple and two mini muffins hanging in a bag on the door handle… and that's it. My glowing reviews end there. The room was dark, damp, and rather shabby. Noisy because of the air conditioning, which we could never turn off, because if we did, the humidity stuck to our skin and it smelled awful. The cleaning was fine, but that's all. There were a lot of oval bathtubs, but with traces of oil. A tiny closet with hangers only for shirts… in short, I don't recommend this hotel. And if you ever book, don't get room 003 on the ground floor, because the humidity will stick to your skin and clothes.

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo Hotel dal 9 al 13 luglio, lo consiglio assolutamente! Ci siamo trovati benissimo, il personale molto cordiale e disponibile. La posizione centralissima ad un passo dalla Gran Via e da Plaza de Espana e dunque vicinissima alle metro. Difatti abbiamo raggiunto molto facilmente l'Hotel dall' aeroporto con le metro in 40 Min. La camera in cui abbiamo soggiornato era al primo piano, molto confortevole con un bel bagno con una grande doccia, entrambi bene puliti e sistemati. La camera dispone di ogni comfort ed é ben insonorizzata. In sintesi: Posizione 5/5 Camera 5/5 Bagno 5/5 Pulizia 5/5 Personale 5/5 Ci tornerei? Sicuramente! Gracias por Todo! gracias por todo. Nos lo pasamos muy bien aquí!!! Hasta luego!

Buen lugar, muy céntrico y con muchos planes para hacer en Madrid. La bañera de hidromasaje algo vieja. No la usamos. Personal amable, y cama cómoda. La cocina no tiene casi menaje tener en cuenta si se piensa usar cuando vayas. Para una pareja está bien.

Hotel pequeño con habitaciones muy diferentes, decoración muy cuqui, algo ajustadas en espacio pero la cama es muy cómoda. La limpieza es aceptable y a destacar muy positivamente el desayuno. La chica que lo sirve que es Sonia es un encanto. Gracias.

Originalidad en todo el hotel, tranquilidad y ambiente relajado. La habitación es grande, con un baño en dos alturas y jacuzzi ¡encantador! ... tenía velitas encendidas cuando llegué. La decoración es exclusiva, con chaise longue incluido. No escuché ningún ruido en las noches que estuve. La única pega, no tenua armario en la habitación... solo dos barras colgadoras a la vista ... igual no ha sido del todo práctico. En general, la estancia ha sido agradable y el personal encantador.
