Hotel is a short walk from the Alvarado metro stop, which is 6 stops from the Gran Via. Fairly affluent, businessy neighbourhood. Hotel staff courteous. Room opened on to a spacious terrace. (Not all rooms have one.) Double bed had one slim pillow each and squeaky springs. Street can be noisy at night. Bathroom did not have a full door, so lack of privacy if you're sharing. Television stopped working after the first day. Heater did not respond to the remote control. The kitchen had a hob, a fridge with a freezer, some cooking and eating utensils, and a sink. NO oven or microwave. (There was an empty shelf over the cooker that may have contained a microwave once upon a time.) I found that bad form. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was that it offered a kitchen. I was travelling on a low budget and could not afford to eat out. If you're going to promise your guests a kitchen, then that kitchen should contain the kinds of things kitchens normally contain.

I took 23 days to write this review but it has already passed a reasonable time and has not served anything. I explain why. I was the night of 29-30 December with my family, room 211. The hotel is next to line 1 of Metro, which is a luxury to move to Madrid, with many restaurant facilities nearby. The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable and the hotel is very comfortable. I called the hotel reception to ask for him and there was only one child tablet. , I called again one week after ...nada new (clearly, it was an IPAD). I really love this hotel. I welcome cakes and bear candy on the first day. It is delicious, and the quality of the toiletries is very good. The hotel has a free mobile internet, a deposit of 200 Euros, and a refund. The breakfast area is small but it is really pleasant. Sitting on the balcony and enjoying the sun and tea, it is full of holiday. I will definitely stay again next time.

The location is great. The breakfast is very complete. The only negative is that you can hear those staying in the rooms next door. I have been in three different rooms and in two of them the windows did not close properly and in one of the rooms the door was damaged. The hotel staff is very helpful.

Everything about the bathroom is not ok with so many problems such as: on hot and cold shower and on rain shower which we were unable to use at all; shampoo and bath gels bottles which cannot be used.

We had SUCH a great time staying at this hotel. We were showing our visiting family what Madrid has to offer and the location of the hotel is perfect for that. Close to the best restaurants and the Sol train station making it really easy to travel around the city. The staff were able to help with anything we needed, and the gifts waiting on our door in the morning were such a great surprise! We love this place and will definitely come back.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming, they upgraded me at check in to a very nice suite for no extra charge! The room was very large and super chic & clean. The rooftop pool was an amazing amenity that we great use of during our stay. Staff members Jamie, Martin and Iva were amazing and made my first trip to Madrid one to remember. I will definitely be coming back and staying at the Axel.

The hotel is in a very central location at Gran Via (main shopping street). Metro station is just a few meters away. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are quite big. There is also a nice rooftop bar with good cocktails. Due to the location the hotel is great for a weekend trip to Madrid. I would definitely stay there again.

Staff was nice and allowed an early check in. Great location with the train station a five minute walk. The Prado and the plaza Mayor both very walkable. Plus, there are a number of excellent restaurants in the area. The downside is the street noise. We had a room on the 5th floor without AC which required us to have our windows open and the noise from the very busy street was deafening. And at 3 am people returning from their night out partying- laughing and yelling could be heard. I think the rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. But, I would recommend a room high up with AC or in the back of the hotel.
