Arthotel Magdeburg

Art Hotel, Grüne Zitadelle (Green Citadel) Talking about an Eco Project, then this property surely fits all the requirements! Designed by Famed Friedensreich Hundertwasser, (his final project), it is a mishmash of styles, incorporating Hotel, Offices, Shops, playgrounds etc etc, all roofs are covered with greenery aplenty! The apartment we chose, was the 8th floor “Suite” so to speak, two levels of living & sleeping space! An amazing break from the usual Hotel or Apartment style accommodation. The service Team and the Manager were outstanding true hospitality professionals! Wonderful team! With all facilities (except gym) this has proven to be the highlight of our 6 week German Discovery Tour! Parking, plenty, but to get to the 8th Floor elevator, needs to stop the car at a lot reserved for home owners, just for 10 minutes or so, then as a German Dragon Lady came out she was virtually screaming at me, not allowed to park, but once her husband came from behind her he realised her mistake and was quite gentlemanly about it! If any critique on the apartment, and I am being lucky here, then too much kitchen utensils , cutlery , plates etc etc! Looked a tad messy! Else truly a wonderful experience and if we ever get back to Magdeburg will surely stay there again! Hundertwasser inside and out. Staying in Hundertwasser’s Green Citadel is an experience. The hotel itself is clean and fine. Don’t make the same mistake as we did and buy the hotel’s breakfast to 13 euros per person. It’s dull and just outside in the Citadel you will find several cozy cafés where you can enjoy breakfast.

A nice stay in the artHotel Magdeburg in a room with a balcony. I like that building and several ideas from Hundertwasser were taken into the rooms. A good breakfast, it had all I want. You can walk from there to the Elbe river or to the city center easily.

Great hotel right in the heart of Magdeburg and next to the cathedral. It's worth it to get a better room, so that you have a little balcony and more light.

Nice spacious room.. was clean and had lots of room.. My complaint would only be that indid not understand how the night entey worked.. The guy at desk told menthey leave at a certain hour and i would have to use a side entry if coming back past that hour.. I never could find it.. So i made sure i got back to room before they left.. That said i did not get to enjoy as much of the night life i had hoped to.. The property itself tho was very nice

Outstanding building, living in a design artwork! Very comfortable room, also convenient parking garage. Breakfast was very good (although the space is quite tiny, so you need to book in advance). Walking distance to most attractions. Highly recommended for Magdeburg!

The location in the city centre was perfect. It was fascinating to stay a couple of nights inside a POI in an uniquely structured and large room. The hotel only occupies a tiny part on the first floor of Hunderwasser's building. The quality is not above the 3 stars. The service in fact wasn't good, the staff was at times even rude, so we didn't really feel welcome. We'll definately not return to this hotel.

Nice hotel, I often stay there when I am travelling to Magdeburg for work.
