Taplow House Hotel & Spa

Went with 3 friends on a spa break for 1 night. Arrived and the staff on reception were friendly and welcoming. Three of us shared a room and it was very spacious and felt luxurious. We all had 60 minute spa treatments (either a facial or a massage) which were included as part of the package which were amazing. The outdoor jacuzzi pool was lovely to relax in overlooking the grounds. The changing rooms looked brand new. Showers had shampoo, conditioner and shower gel to use. Robes and towels plentiful. Dinner was 3 courses of delicious food in a lovely setting. Waiting staff attentive without being over bearing. The room was quite hot overnight but i tend to find this at all hotels. Breakfast in the morning was also delicious and served at the table rather than buffet style which I preferred. All in all amazing value break and I would definitely recommend. Thank you.

Like, I imagine, a number of guests we booked as we had a reservation at one Bray’s restaurant. Our dinner reservation was cancelled due to a Covid outbreak but thought we would go anyway. So glad we did. We were upgraded to a huge room overlooking the river with its own balcony and massive bathroom. the decor is fabulous, location on the river very tranquil, lovely breakfast, Honesty bar with great wines and welcoming hosts. I wonderful antithesis to your usual hotel clone. In the summer they have a river boat for trips or for arriving in style at the waterside inn. Soak up its personality. We will be back.

Fredrick's Hotel Restaurant Spa

We booked thru virgin experiences as the pictures looked beautiful and just what we was looking for for our long awaited get away. Sadly the pictures are lies and obviously taken when the hotel was in good shape long ago as it’s rundown and tatty now. The hotel is dated and grubby but has a price tag of luxury which you can see it once was… WAS!! Our room was dusty and windows filthy, miss matched furniture and broken mirror wardrobe. The spa area was ok but the pool had many missing tiles and missing pump caps, also a spa pool but no longer working as one, the decking along the outside was rotten and broken and there was rubbish of broken furniture etc up along the side of the hotel. Around the pool under the loungers was thick dust and rubbish and is clearly missed when cleaning is done. We ate in the hotel as our experience included breakfast and dinner, poached eggs all snotty and omelet not cooked properly (how does someone undercook omelet) dinner we had fish with was a cheap white fish and was very wet with no flavour. We reported all this to virgin who spoke with the fredricks hotel and they denied it all, well what we didn’t have photos of! So disappointing so felt an honest review was needed incase like us you’ve waited so long to get away and recharger and think your going somewhere that’s pure luxury to only find out the photos are very out of date and the place is run down and tatty. oh and the bed we had was an awful nights sleep and when reported to owners son he didn’t care! Front of house staff absolutely lovely and the waiters and waitresses also the spa team and lady that done our massage were also lovely but sadly no matter how lovely they were it wasn’t the luxury relaxing stay we had hoped for.
