Voyage Home&Guesthouse

I booked this hostel for two nights with a friend but left after the first night. The only positives to this hostel are the price (extremely cheap) and location (5 mins walk to Jonker Street.) Apart from that, the facilities were very lacking, which was why we left early. The mixed dorm had 14 beds, but most of those appeared to be occupied by older men staying there long-term, which was not the fun backpacking vibe we were hoping for. There was also no air conditioning, just a few fans shared between the whole room, meaning it was very difficult to sleep due to the heat. Mosquito nets for the beds were provided but mine had a couple of small holes. The bathrooms were dirty, and the sinks didn’t even have soap, which even for a budget hostel I felt was not good enough. Secondly, when going up the steep stairs to the dorm late at night, my friend saw a mouse (rat?) scurry across the steps. To his credit, the receptionist was very nice and friendly. However overall I would rate the Voyage Guesthouse 2/5 stars and would not stay here again.
