Kiha Beach

Kiha Beach was undoubtedly one of the most incredible places I've ever had the pleasure of staying at. I cherished every single moment there. The staff was phenomenal, always on hand to assist with anything we needed, and the views from the balcony were breathtaking. However, the highlight was undoubtedly the food: a daily feast of delectable dishes, prepared and served by an exceptional team of chefs and waitstaff. I'm thrilled we decided on Kiha Beach for our stay. I'm eagerly looking forward to returning soon, especially for the Manta Rays season!

After reading plenty of 5 star reviews on Tripadvisor and Google, we booked at Kiha Beach with half-board accommodation. The whole structure is very clean, the room was very nice, the bed really comfortable, the staff very friendly. Still considering that we are not on a resort Island, we rate the structure itself, the rooms and the cleanliness with 4 Stars. In contrast, in our opinion the food deserves max. of 2 stars. While the small breakfast buffet was “ok”, the dinner menu was quite boring. Actually, we were expecting to enjoy every evening a small buffet as we read on all reviews, But in fact, out of the 7 days we spent at Kiha Beach, the buffet was offered only one evening. As for the other days, latest 1 or 2 hours before dinner we were asked to choose dishes out of a menu with one starter, select among two main dishes and 2 desserts. The reason why was probably the low occupancy. Additionally, the staff wanted us to set a fix time for dinner. The food quality was ok, the selection of dishes, however, we found really boring… Ceasar’s salad (all Europeans will probably find the grated parmesan cheese served with it to be terrible) or a soup as a starter. Chicken, beef or tuna fish as main course (the sauces where always quite similar) with a selection of vegetables as side dish that was the same, evening after evening: roasted carrots, potatoes. Ice cream or fruit or chocolate cake or mango custard pudding as a dessert. The mango custard pudding was delicious! For half board customers sprite and cola are included (no need to mention water 😉).  All in all, we rate the price-performance ratio at Kiha Beach not really good.  We were really impressed about the fairness: for health reasons we asked if they would refund us some money if we leave earlier. The management told us, they would refund all the nights we didn’t spend there. It took 3 weeks and several inquiries “where is the money” before we got the reimbursement, but finally the promised amount was credited on our credit card account.  From of the overall friendly staff, we will keep Salim in our heart. A really cool guy, with a fantastic hospitality and helpfulness.  A final comment that has nothing to do with Kiha Beach particularly, but rather with Dharavandhoo itself. We found the island being full of mosquitos (also Asian tiger mosquitos), flies and sandflies. Impossible to enjoy breakfast as buffet and tables were full of flies. Impossible to stay outside or relax on the beach during daylight without repellent, because of the mosquitos and sandflies. For what we could experience, Dharavandhoo does not really have a real/effective mosquito prevention strategy. Especially the area closer to the small forest on the west side is rich of such nasty insects. Therefore, our dream of spending few days with snorkeling and relaxing on the beach vanished short after arrival. During our stay we also learned about 2 persons that contracted a dengue infection during the previous months. O

Large enough to feel like a resort, small enough that they all know your name and treat you like family. We booked our holiday the day before and the team (especially Resanne and Ronniefe) were so helpful in helping us from the minute we touched down in Male. We wouldn’t have been able to organise everything without their help. Loved every second and being on the doorstep of hanifaru bay is just the icing on the cake !

We never go back but khia beach brought us back. Why? The owner Mr N, Ali, the Manager and all the staff cannot do enough to make your stay unforgettable. The rooms overlook Hanifaru Bay which is teaming with Manta Rays & visited by whale sharks- both of which we swam with, with the hotel boat crew. We had dinner on the beach and we can honestly say it was the best we have ever had, everything from the food, atmosphere, staff and of course setting. We spent hour after hour snorkelling the house reef & when tired retired to the hammock to take a snooze. Highly recommend

This is our second visits to the amazing island and hotel. The staff are super helpful and nothing is to much trouble. The entire team from pick up at the airport, the reception staff, the waiters and chef and the boat crew that helped us see the mantas and whale sharks the manager and the owner were all at hand and made our stay the best yet. Honestly if you are coming this way to see the marine life then don’t miss out on this hotel experience.

This is a local island hotel? I’d say it is a resort. After I booked the hotel, they contacted me re the transportation arrangement and help to book the domestic flight. After I arrived, they have a vehicle to pick up. The place is very clean no matter lobby or room. The crystal blue beach is beautiful with trees and clean up twice a day, some chairs for relaxing and also good for snorkel. Don’t forget to enjoy the sunrise on the silent beach and u may lucky enough to see the small manta jumping from the water. The room is spacious and under well maintain, towel is soft and the bedding is comfort. Have a balcony with sea view. For dining, I have been Maldives three times, their chef is the best from my experience. I got a big fish during the fishing excursion, he helps to cook with a charge and it was very yummy! The other night we asked for whole chicken in advance(not on menu), also very tasty! During my stay, I joined 3 days excursion. You should not miss the snorkel with manta. The manta trip is on-call basis so I joined one more half day snorkel trip at the same time and they took us to hanifaru bay immediately when manta show up! Prefect! I also recommend Private island with bbq lunch trip as well. The crews, Atheef and Sobah are very friendly. One day we went with Ali too, all of them are nice and they do take well care of our safety when we were in water. We really enjoy the time with them and laugh all the time. Thank you for giving us an unforgettable trips to see beautiful Maldives. Ali, the owner, nice and happy guy. You can ask him anything and know more about Maldives. Staff are nice, friendly and good service. For example, we walked around outside the hotel and met one staff who just after work. He walked to us to say hi and chat for a while. Come and stay on local island and you will see how local ppl living and meet true Maldivian. Maldives is not just expensive resorts. The reception contacted me via WhatsApp and they are very easy to communicate. What is the diff between Kiha and resort actually? Just they are not one island one resort. Other than that, they are prefect! Ps I have walk around the island, I think they are the most beautiful hotel there and have vehicles to send you to local restaurant and shopping.

Excellent service from the whole team & Ali is so passionate in every area he is in. Highly Recommend to go Hanifaru bay snorkel with the mantas with KIHA beach’s speed boat as time is important to catch the mantas in time. They are the nearest hotel to Hanifaru bay. Ali is so warm & helpful & made our whole stay so comfortable & we feel at home. Communicating to the reservations team when I booked this hotel was a very good help because I asked many detailed questions. Thanks Roni, Resanne & Winda! Our sea view room was very nice to wake up to! Right in front of the hotel, there’s a shaded area to chill at the deck chairs with the breeze blowing & relaxing. Food cooked by Chef was delicious as I ordered ala carte due to our personal eating habits which covers more carbo like rice & noodles. Snorkelling right in front of KIHA beach was good & also, love their salt water swimming pool for a dip and looking out to the beach. Enjoyed our stay very much from 3 August to 8 August 2023.

The attentive and friendly staff at the hotel deserve special mention as they went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. From their warm welcome upon arrival to their remarkable responsiveness and quick fulfillment of requests, their hospitality truly enhanced our overall experience. The pool was refreshing and well-maintained, making it a great place to relax. The on-site restaurants offered a variety of delicious meals on both their menu and the buffet. The restaurant staff was attentive and friendly, making us feel more welcomed and cared for. The location was fantastic, with breathtaking views and more importantly, right next to the beach. We enjoyed quality time together and created beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. Can't wait to go back again!!!!
