We have stayed at this Premier Inn many times and it is definitely our favourite to visit. When we arrived the staff were very friendly and took our bags and told us about check in suggesting we arrive at 2:30 to avoid the queue. We liked the sound of this as previous times we have been made to wait til 3pm precisely so it made a nice change for the staff to be more considerate. We didn't arrive that early so don't know if it would have been stuck too but we did arrive closer to ten to three and we were checked in instantly. We had two twin rooms which unfortunately have the dirty river and car park view as opposed to the cathedral view which is my favourite. The rooms are lovely though and very spacious. There is a good cleanliness in the rooms but the skirting boards are looking a bit worn and dirty in places. The beds are nice for a comfortable nights sleep and there's a small heater to keep the room warm if it gets chilly. The plugs are not in the most convenient place with them being under the bedside table or all the way by the TV but they do the job. The wifi is pretty bad but I'm sure this is done on purpose to encourage the purchase of the super fast wifi. Having stayed at Premier Inn for many years I remember watching the whole two hour plus live final of strictly come dancing on iplayer in 2018 and it not buffering but now I can't even watch a ten minute YouTube video, actually never mind YouTube, I couldn't even get a two minute tiktok to load without buffering. I am certain the wifi is designed this way on purpose as there was never a problem with it before the charge came about! It also constantly drops out and needs reconnecting which is so annoying. Although we had initially chosen not to have dinner at the hotel we changed our mind after seeing how packed the restaurants and bars were in the area because of Peter Kay at the arena and a big football match on TV. The hotel was also busy because of the event and so we had to book a table and wait but this wasn't too long, only just under twenty minutes and we were allowed to wait in the bar area. This was fair enough as we had declined booking dinner when asked at check in. Unfortunately we couldn't sit in the bar to eat the meal because of how busy it was and we had to sit in the restaurant. We didn't want to sit there as it's an awful room with no windows visible and it was pretty empty by the time we got there with only one other couple in there. For this reason the atmosphere was pretty poor but not for long as the lovely Nadine came over for a chat when she could and was always more than happy to help with any menu changes we requested (which was many!) She really made it feel special for us which was perfect as we were celebrating a birthday and it was nice to see a familiar face as we'd been lucky enough to have been served by her on our last visit seven months earlier as well. She was also kind enough to wish us well on our onward journey when she saw us ready to l
