Great stay here last weekend, I can't understand people who mention noise this is on canal street and there's obviously going to be some however I was in bed by 1am and slept through so It wasn't an issue at all to me! Great hospitality and Great location many thanks

I have had so many different experiences down the years visiting The New Union it was so refreshing to see during Sparkle weekend how nicer the staff are on site compared with previous years ,One staff member in particular was extremely friendly and made me feel so welcome ,everything about the place just feels good ,this staff member I forget her name but she said I would be back later and true to her word found myself back there a few hours later What I like about this place is you have a general area which keeps its "Proper Boozer" vibe with leather sofa's general pub style tables and seating and a pool table a separate lounge area for ladies/girls only and an adjacent room for functions & a cabaret bar with a dance floor Also two lots of outdoor seating area ,one alongside the pub and another alongside the canal which is just great in the summer evenings I am aware they charge after a certain time to enter the Cabaret Bar but they are usually handing out free shot vouchers so compensates your entry cost As for drinks cost they are fairly competitive for the area ,though during busier times if you consume drinks outside you will get served a plastic glass Can get very busy on Friday & Saturday nights I know its a hotel as well but having never stayed here i can't add to that experience

Had a brilliant night at the New Union. The atmosphere was buzzing, the staff were friendly, and the bar was full of energy. Definitely coming back!

Stayed here becore and been full of praise. This time, a 20 pound deposit was needed for a room key, with having paid the cab in cash, this meant using a card, not seen the money back yet, nothing in booking terms to state a dep needed plus you get 19 pound back Room 7, ideal the first night as I was out mosf of night, room shakes and vibrates until 5am due to downstairs, so if you yourself are out this ideal,, if you plan not to go out, its hell Bed ok, bathroom ok, location cant be topped, this is not a complaint about the noise but factually you cannot book here and not expect to be disturbed

I stayed here with my friend this week as a last minute visit to Manchester. Honestly for the price we paid for two nights stay room only, it was very good. The room was clean, the bedding very clean and comfortable and the bathroom very clean also. Basic but clean and fresh. In a great location at the end of canal street. The staff were lovely, and nothing was too much. Bit of noise from the bar downstairs one night but didn’t bother us. Very good.

After 10 years of saying i'll go back to Manchester. I finally did. The New Union Hotel was a brilliant place to stay. Nice functional room with good facilities. I absolutely would stay here again. Thank you to the staff for such a wonderful time. I loved it.

It’s a low cost room. It’s on canal street. I’ve stayed before, which was pleasant. This was not so good. Was given room 9. Positives: Clean room Amazing powerful shower The issues: The biggest issue was access to the building when the pub downstairs is closed. I was given the wrong front door key, which was changed. When I attempted to use the key, it did not work. I was effectively locked out. There was no on site staff after 8pm. I was lucky a resident came in and saw I’d been knocking with no answer, otherwise I would have been locked out. I complained the next day and was told the key mechanism needs to be lifted when you put the key into the lock. It does not alter the fact I could not come and go to access the hotel as I’d have liked and had to not go out to join my friends later. Hotel access is fundamental. There is also a £20 cash deposit for the room key I was not made aware of. There is a socket at the end of the bed, but not ideal if you want to charge your phone and use it at the same time. The view was a brick wall. The bathroom had small damage to the floor. Room 9 and the key issue did not make for an enjoyable stay. That said, it’s cheap, clean and in a prime location, but there are better hotels out there that don’t have access issues and do have better layout / facilities. My complaint falling on deaf ears didn’t help.

The room was absolutely freezing, the heating was on, but as low as you can have it. Had to pay a deposit for the keys, £20. . I didn’t have that on me so they suggested I leave one of my bank cards, I didn’t mind doing that but as I was at a meeting at work I was up early. I went to find a member of staff to hand back the keys and retrieve my card and was met by the cleaner to say no one will be here until past 8am. There was no way to get my card back if I’d have paid the £20 instead I’d have not travelled 27 miles to reclaim either. Nothing in the terms to say a deposit is required either. . I’m still suffering from frost bite now. NEVER again. I’ve now to cancel my card and get a replacement.

It is not a hotel. It’s a last minute refuge. I had no idea it would be open until 6am. My room was shaking until 6. It was that loud, it was probably comparable to the blitz. The bottle bins getting emptied till 7. The cleaners banging from 7-11. Drunk and high customers shouting in hallways. It’s actually the most appalling visit to a hotel I have ever had. Good if your 21 and snorting and drinking. Otherwise no. Only go sun-Thursday if you want any sleep.

Absolute a no moral hotel, my friend went to pick a customer up from the hotel in his taxi and got a fine, are you for real..your customer paid for the hotel and wanted a taxi to the airport and you call bailiffs to his house for not paying the fine. What a shameful act this is daylight robbery says a lot about your hotel. No wonder nobody stays there I'm afraid Stay well away as if they can do that what other things are they capable of.

I feel that this is advertised as a hotel, while it’s just a horrible party hostel. Even youth hostel are more quiet than that. Rooms are right above the club, no way you’ll be sleeping if you’re not passed out drunk. Bathrooms are dirty. Just horrible.

I made a reservation through Booking. com, securing a room at a rate of £30. I subsequently received correspondence from the hotel indicating that the room had been mistakenly priced and they requested either a cancellation, rebooking at a higher rate, or selecting a double room for £44. In response, I expressed my willingness to be adaptable and to opt for the double room, while also inquiring if they could uphold the originally agreed upon £30 rate. The hotel's response was simple ‘No’, with further messages conveying that they would rather leave the room vacant. Having been a repeat guest at this hotel and their bar on numerous occasions, I held the expectation of a more favourable reply, particularly given their long-standing presence in the industry. While I acknowledge the possibility of errors, I found the nature of their response to be both unwarranted and discourteous.
