We visited this oasis after 2 weeks in the mission field in Nairobi. We could not have asked for a better place to relax and unwind! The tents were perfectly located throughout the property. We arrived on a very rainy cool evening. We were delighted after a wonderful dinner to find our beds turned down with a hot water bottle warming the sheets. Each evening we enjoyed time around the fire looking up at the stars. Festus, the manager, was full of great information and very engaging. The Maasai provided constant protection when walking around the grounds. We will be back!!

The urge to move flawlessly and conveniently is a satisfying thing.the trip down to the savanna land is a wonderful place to visit we come across the largest escarpment and the Great Rift Valley as you snake down to the bottom of the Valley to come face to face with the mixture of several cultures coming together.

I absolutely loved my stay at Sekenani. The pictures online really don’t capture the beauty that this place holds. The architecture blends perfectly with the surroundings. If you want to connect with nature, this is the place. It’s not too far from the mara Sekenani gate and you get an absolute treat of a ride on the way there because you get to see a ton of wildlife as you go along. Beautiful sounds of nature greet you as you walk in and head towards the reception area. There’s a team at hand ready to take your bags. The welcome drink is very much appreciated as you check in and get a brief of what to expect during your stay.(thanks Dorcas! ) The privacy of the tents is to die for! The interior is beautiful, just what you need for a comfortable stay. Only thing I didn’t like was the bathtub. I’d prefer a shower… but that’s just me! I loved that there was power 24/7, meaning devices could be charged at whatever time and it’s not a struggle looking for a flashlight in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and I really appreciated the extra touch of putting a hot water bottle in the bed after sunset. It gets pretty cold at night. The food was good and the staff were exceptional. Lazaro’s customer service skills stood out. Attention to detail with a warm African touch. Keep it up! I loved the bonfire after dinner. It was an absolute pleasure to interact with other guests during my stay. Despite the camp having no fence, I appreciated the fact that the Maasai guards were always at hand to escort all guests to their respective tents whenever they were ready to retire. I never got to enjoy the pool because I forgot my swimming gear. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful marriage between modern amenities and nature. Thank you team Sekenani for an amazing experience!

It's not the easiest place to get to and the recent extended and heavy rains have proved to be very destructive to the track that leads to the camp. However, it is very much worth the effort as the place has an authentic safari feel. The staff are lovely, happy, cheerful, polite and always ready to engage in conversation that shows genuine interest; not the 'plastic' interactions that you find in some places. Out tent was spotless, well equipped and beautifully located, looking out over a small valley. And in the evenings, when we returned from diner the bed had been turned down and there were hot water bottles!! A bit strange we though, but the nights here can get a bit chilly, despite day time temperatures in the mid-20s. A variety of birds, monkeys, baboons and a whole host of passing wildlife, much of it at night only adds to the experience. A small suspension bridge links the accommodation to the dining and administration area, pretty much a unique feature that again sets Sekenani apart from others. The food is good and served with a smile. We arrived very late and hungry, lunch was over but within a few minutes we were sat down enjoying a delicious meal. There seems to be a Genet cat that makes itself at home in the dining area, and that is a great bonus, although one of the smallest cats their markings are beautiful and I would imagine they are great at keeping unwanted 'visitors' at bay. If there is one place we would go back to from our recent visit to Kenya it would be here.

Sekenani camp was amazing. My sister-in-law and I were booked into this camp by Nazrene from the tour company Fortune Tide. Fortune Tide has a tie-up with the Hotel Golden Tulip in Nairobi where we stayed. The camp was just breathtaking. It is in the heart of Masai Mara and has no fences so it is a true camping in the wild experience. You can call it glamping. The Camp manager Festus welcomed us and gave us all the relevant information. The kitchen staff and dining room staff were friendly and caring. They went out of their way to take care of us. Being a vegan I appreciated Chef Charles for preparing a special meal be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Natalie and Lazarus the dining room staff gave us information about the park, the dishes, and more. All of them went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We had a very intellectual conversation with Festus about culture and in general about current affairs. All of them treated us like family. The camp is very secure and the Masai security guards are always patrolling the area. They escort the guests to the tents at night and to the reception during late evening and early morning hours. I would highly recommend this camp to anyone looking for a unique experience. The tent itself is very tastefully decorated. It is simple yet elegant.

We stayed at Sekenaki Camp on our 3 day Safari Trip and It was wonderful. Its as If you were in the middle of the Jungle surrounded by trees , and hearing birds chirping and the wind whistling from your tent .which was all I expected to be Chic and Cozy separated one from another by stone paths and trees .Simple but well equipped and a lovely little Deck to sip a bottle of wine in . .The staff came by dawn to put . . warm bottle waters in your bed ! Such serene place to relax after a whole Day in the Mara As the camp has no boundaries you are expected to see some animals around the property .(we saw zebras and Anthelopes by the dinning tent which was amazing ) Food was pretty good and the service was genuine and very attentive by Lazarus and his lady partner (sorry I forgot her name ) Thank you very much Mr F for your warm welcome ! I will definitely recommend Sekenani Camp I hope to come back

This is a excellent camp with everything you could need, but no frills. It is situated in amongst the woodland with chances to see some wildlife. This year we saw Baboons , Bushbuck and Waterbuck. All the staff are excellent very friendly and extremely helpful. The food on offer is excellent with some choice. This only thing is the road to the camp is quite rough. We did have an issue with s small rocky stream when it rained heavy. It meant that the vehicles couldn't safely cross the stream thought some did brave the crossing.

If you’re on a safari to get an experience you can’t get at home then staying at the Sekenani Lodge is going to deliver big time. Get ready for drive past a Maasai village, be prepared to wait as goats and cows block the road and then enjoy the “African Massage”as your vehicle lurches and bumps over the eroded earthen road that leads up to this magical place. When we finally arrived we climbed a stone stair case several stories tall to get to the check-in where our genial host Festus greeted us with a warm handshake and hearty laugh. Our tent had little glamor but lots of character. It included a hot shower, firm mattress on the bed and each night a hot water bottle nestled in a leopard print cover was tucked under the covers to keep us warm. The furnishings have the patina of many years of service. Everything functioned just fine including the padlocks we were given to lock down the zippers on the tents. Something necessary (we were told) to keep the clever baboons from helping themselves to the goodies in our tents. Each night an English-speaking Maasai tribesman (armed with an iron-tipped spear) met us as we came and went from the tent to the dining area. Their job was to actively ward off the baboons and other creatures lurking in the gardens. Each evening we gathered with other travelers around a sweet smelling outdoor fire, drank Tusker beers and exchanged stories about our day tracking animals and about how we all ended up at this place. We also watched as giraffes, impalas, baboons and others passed by on their way to get their own suppers. The food here is adequate at best… fills you up and tastes just fine. The internet is only available right in front of the main desk. Festus explained that digital access was removed from the tents and most other public areas to accommodate the guests with children who wanted to be detached from the rest of the world during their stay. While at first I was annoyed I came to appreciate it. After all the whole point is to be someplace different from home.
