Hotel Palumbalza Porto Rotondo

The hotel is set in a beautiful location overlooking a lovely bay. All of the staff are wonderful and very helpful. Our room was a ground floor with a large terrace. We visited in late May and expected bars and restaurants to be all fully opened, they weren’t. In fact we only had four options and quite a distance from the hotel and certainly not walking distance. After the first day and enquiring about the cost of taxis into nearby Porto Rotondo (6 minute drive €20 each way) we decided that we needed to hire a car. The hotel was very helpful and arranged this through them. We ate in the hotel for two days, but for us the food was not very good and was very expensive along with the drinks. Please note there is a service charge per person per plate at around €4 per person. We expected a fairly substantial bill for the two days we ate and drank at the hotel but we were surprised/ shocked at the cost, €288.00 inc €30 city taxes! A lovely peaceful holiday but we should have arranged a hire car from the beginning and travelled out for our meals.

From Olbia Airport it’s a windy road to head down to this property and the taxi will cost 55-60€. Absolutely beautiful views if facing the water and the grounds are manicured beautifully. The room was big with high ceilings and a tiny balcony with cafe chairs and table to enjoy the view. The tall closet in the room somewhat separates the space into two: queen bed on one side and sofa/pullout bed with small sitting nook and chairs on the other. Comfort isn’t a selling point. Neither is cleanliness: the upholstered chairs were dingy and the bathroom didn’t feel clean with inside the spacious shower having moldy corners/edges. And the wifi is rubbish. But the staff working here are friendly and incredibly helpful. The breakfast buffet is ok and you can request eggs made to order. The pasta dishes at dinner were great but the snack bar during the day is forgettable. There is not a nearby walkable market. At least not when we were there just before Easter (before the season started). The staff and the views are what made our short stay here enjoyable.

We exchanged our points for supposedly a 4-5 * resort. The room allocated smelled of damp very badly. There was black mold in the bathroom and the bedroom walls. This room was a health hazzard. We asked to be moved but told they were full. We checked out the next morning. AVOID this place

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The room stank damp and there was black mills in the bathroom. We were booked in for 7 nights but left after the first night. When asked why we were leaving I told them about the room and all I got was a comment ok then The food was ok but the rest was awful

We stayed there 4 nights in a standard room (3 adults). It's an average beach hotel, room quality is acceptable for short stays. Breakfast menu is reach and satisfactory. Lunch and Dinner menus are tasty but quite expensive. You need definitely a car to reach markets, restaurants, beaches, etc. around. Staff is polite and helpful.

Such a beautiful place to stay. The staff were lovely! It was very clean and comfortable. I would suggest hiring a car as it’s quite remote although there is a beautiful beach in walking distance. Also the meals and drinks there are expensive (but delicious!). We definitely will come back!

Not the type of hotel for foreigners, not a good location for sight seeing. The hotel isn’t helpful with recommendations for things to do or what to see.

It was ok but having the staff asking if I could give them a haircut… after knowing I’m a hairdresser. Not good at all.

This resort is a bit of an enigma. When you look close enough there is plenty to moan about. The wifi-signal is rubbish and seems only to work (somewhat) outside your room, the bathrooms are not very clean and are more or less falling apart, the beds are not that great (although we’ve had worse in Italy), there are no comfy cushions in the outside furniture on your terrace, the pool has ******* closing/opening hours and so on, and so on… But then again, much can be forgiven. Breakfast is excellent (albeit there is no fresh orange juice) and eggs are cooked to order. For dinner you have a choice of two restaurants, one of which is -very romantically- located at the resort’s private little harbour. Staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and they go out of their way to make sure your every whim is catered for. The views over the bay of Marinella are beautiful and the gardens are luscious, immaculately kept and a joy to look at. This place is not cheap, but there are many similar resorts in this neck of the woods that easily charge you double the amount you pay here. Make sure you have a room with sea-view though! Then go sit on your private patio, have a drink and watch all the little boats and mega-yachts float by. Bliss! Disliked · Quite a number of things unfortunately: Wifi-connection is of poor quality, the rooms and bathrooms could definitely do with an upgrade, and are not kept very clean. Daily maid service is a quick in- and out job. Make up the bed, provide clean towels, a quick sweep with a broom and hey presto, the room is clean again (don’t look under the bed though, and certainly don’t inspect all the different nooks and crannies in the bathroom). The decision to shut down the swimming pool between the hours of 1 pm and 3.30 pm is baffling. Service at the restaurant was immaculate for three nights in a row, but on the 4th night it was Murphy’s Law all round. Beware! There is a lot of climbing to do, to get to and from your room. The whole place is filled with steps and stairs, so anyone less mobile could be facing a bit of a challenge.
