We checked in to our deluxe room, and it was a horrible stay. First off, the deluxe room building is the furthest building away from the hotel, and by the time we get to our room, the view from our balcony is of a construction site and parking lot. Our room had a particularly strong vinegar smell to it, and we asked to move rooms. We were told that every deluxe room was sold out and we would be able to move rooms the next day. Next day comes around and we didn’t hear from the hotel. Every call to guest services took at least 3-5 minutes until someone answered or called back. We also came back to our hotel room unlocked, and it seemed housekeeping didn’t truly close our door when they cleaned it. On our last night, the A/C didn’t seem to work. We called guest services and the lady I spoke to told me that it was turned off for the whole hotel. When asked why or when will it be turned back on, she abruptly interrupts me and says I’m transferring you to the front desk. I waited for at least 2 minutes on the phone before someone from the front desk to answer my call, and he informs me that someone will come check our A/C. We love staying at different hotels in different countries and had no issues with other hotels in Marrakech, however, our stay at Movenpick was very underwhelming and staff didn’t seem to care at all. This has been a very awful experience, and hope that the hotel management can make a much better experience and improvement for others.

Hotel Marrakech le Semiramis

Marrakech|2.31km from city center
With the hindsight of some of the reviews i have read on this hotel, my conclusion after just staying here for a few days is they are absolutely not giving the hotel the justice it derserves. Yes the hotel is old, might be some tiles missing here and there' or some wall plug not sitting 100 % in the wall. But generally its not a problem that can't be solved if you ask the staff they are both friendly and helpfull. With a large family in marrakech and the experience of travelling here every other year for the last 30 years this is nothing out of the ordinary on hotels of marrakech unless you are staying at something absolutely high end hotel which will probably cost you small fortune Garden is magnificent with a spacious pool area, friendly and helpfull staff that solves any problems you might have, good food with fair prices. Rooms are spacious well ventilated (Ive read a lot of people complaining about the A/C, to that i can just say morocco is one of the warmest places on earth specially during the summer time and thats not anything even the best A/C can solve) The only negative thing is the area around the hotel once was a ”highend” district with lots of luxury hotels sadly the last couple of years the area has been in decay leaving it quite ”dead” which means you have to find a taxi to get to anywhere interesting which is not a big cost (20Dh-40dh), but can be tricky if you are travelling more then 3 persons due to lack of big taxis and the fact that small taxi´s only take 3 people. But i guess TIA (This is africa) Pool 4/5 Stars - Minus one for missing tiles/renovation Garden 5/5 Stars - Big and perfect for the kids to take a nap in the stroller Rooms 4/5 stars - Minus one for minor renovation issues Staff 5/5 Stars - Friendly, helpfull and good in both arabic/french and English Price/Value 5/5 stars

Riad Karmela

Riad Karmela

Marrakech|1.51km from city center
My husband booked us a week's stay at the Riad Karmela as a treat for our 25th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, we could not have asked for better service. Our airport transportation dropped us off at a little square near our Riad. We were immediately met by a member of staff who walked us to the Riad Karmela. We were then sat down and given a pot of delicious mint tea and some local biscuits whilst the wonderful Mehdi explained to us how to find our way around Marrakesh, where the best restaurants are (and his recommendations were spot on) and how to stay safe in the exciting chaos that is Marrakesh. We were then shown to our room, which was breathtaking with a view of the beautiful courtyard below. Breakfast was a delicious array of fruits, pastries, orange juice and either coffee or mint tea. You could also request eggs, prepared however you required. You can also have a very reasonably priced evening meal on their roof terrace. We had a balloon trip and a camel ride during our stay. Both times, someone from the Riad walked us to our pick up point for our transportation to the activity - a really lovely touch, especially during our first few days in Marrakesh, when the streets can be a little confusing. One thing I would strongly recommend is to ask reception to organise your transportation rather than just getting a taxi on the street. Our journey to the Jardin Majorelle was excellent and reasonably priced. Sadly, we told him not to wait and got a street taxi back and not only got ripped off but also got left in the wrong part of the city. That said, that was our only slightly negative experience of our whole trip to Marrakesh. We had a massage during our stay, which was absolutely lovely and we also loved the fact that the Riad had lots of little courtyards where you could just sit and relax. I cannot recommend Riad Karmela enough the accommodation is beautiful, the staff (from the managers to the breakfast ladies and the waiters in the evening) cannot do enough for you and Marrakesh is hypnotic. Definitely worth booking!

Riad Alamine

Riad Alamine

Marrakech|0.06km from Medina of Marrakech
I stayed at this riad for three nights. I've been visiting Morocco on and off for the last twenty years and stayed in various Imperial cities and up to the border with Algeria. I didn't book this riad, someone else did and when I checked the reviews I was looking forward to staying there. I can honestly say that I don't know why the reviews state ”superb”, that wasn't my experience. The location is great, short distance to Jemaa El Fna and the breakfast is good, I enjoyed the coffee and the traditional ”M'semen”. But unfortunately this riad has failed to deliver on the basic needs of a good night sleep and an efficient drainage in the shower room (I was standing in a pool of water while showering because it didn't drain properly). I hardly slept on the first night because I was itchy, the bed was not comfortable and the mattress too thin, On the next day, I moved room but unfortunately my experience hasn't improved. The mattress once again was non existent and this time the pillows were just a sponge and didn't offer any support. Having slept in my sleeping bag I managed to get a slightly better sleep but my body was just achy and so decided to head to hammam for a scrub and a deep tissue massage. I get it this is a three star riad but still the basic of B&B is foremost a comfortable bed, a hot shower and a decent breakfast. It scored on the breakfast, hot shower and friendly staff members especially Karim. He is a nice guy doing his best. I was suppose to stay an extra night but I decided to cancel it. I personally would not recommend this place if you are like me you appreciate and need a good night sleep. Furthermore, the stairs are very narrow and steep. This place has a potential to be a ”hidden gem” with decent mattresses, good drainage and decent size towels for adults. The owner is a genuine hardworking lady but she is missing the point of the basics B&B provision.

Tempoo Hotel Marrakech City Centre Adults Only

We took a taxi as we didn’t know the exact location but it was only a short walk from the train station/Supratours bus depot. There was a queue to check in on arrival but staff were very helpful and efficient. Room was very spacious, very clean and beds were very comfortable with a fridge and balcony. Breakfast was plentiful and service was well handled. We sat outside in the sun lounge and watched the world go by … The hotel didn’t offer restaurant service in the evening so we had to eat out which was okay for us but may put some people off. Also the pool was outside so no chance of using it in February!

Our flight arrived on time in Morocco & we easily found our booked car outside to take us to our resort. Marrakesh Rayds parc & spa When we arrived they showed us into the restaurant to have lunch. Which was delicious. While waiting for our room. Then they gave us an upgrade I mentioned it was my husband’s special Birthday. Our room was so lovely & the scenery was beautiful. The staff were all very welcoming. We had such a relaxing time. The food each day was delicious. something different everyday. Breakfast was always fresh & lovely omelettes cooked to order. The breads fresh & tasty. The only downside was the pool was freezing but it was the cool time of year. We did still swim 🥶. We got a taxi to an authentic Moroccan restaurant for my husband’s birthday. With the help of reception who booked the restaurant. Then the taxi & what time to bring us back. the cab was outside waiting to take us back to our resort.

The hotel is beautifully decorated with traditional Moroccan furnishings and artwork, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel's location is also great located in the medina, as it is within walking distance of many of the city's main attractions. The rooftop terrace offers a stunning view of the city and the pool is the perfect spot to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

Fantastic weekend away in Marrakech in a perfect authentic Riad within the Medina. We booked through easyJet holidays and this included a lovely breakfast. Breads, jams, yogurt, traditional beber omelette which is egg & tomato based. Coffee and fresh orange juice. This is a beautiful small traditional Riad tuck away down an alleyway. Not the easiest to find on your first visit but the taxi driver guided us. They also picked us up from the Riad. I was a little nervous after reading reviews about not finding the hotel but honestly it was fine. We arrived late at night and the staff let us eat in the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. We travelled with friends so had two rooms, our friends had the koutobia which was amazing, large bed, two showers & even a little upstairs. It had double doors onto the courtyard with the small swimming pool. Our room was upstairs from the fountain courtyard, again another lovely traditional room. We booked a private tour guide for the morning after arrival through the hotel so this would help us find our way around for the next few days. This was fantastic as we went to places we would never have found and he also gave us points to look for so we could find our way back to the hotel easily. We also booked a massage within the hotel. OMG it was amazing and definitely recommend. The roof terrace is an amazing place to relax and also see the hot air balloons in the mornings. If we had more time this would have been a trip to try. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The Riad is beautiful. Traditional yet modern. So chic. But the staff are the best part about the Riad - they really understand hospitality. Nabil, the manager, called me before I arrived to check everything was in order and confirm we were expected, which was nice. When we arrived we were welcomed with mint tea, and then served dinner. The lamb tagine is the best I have ever had, and the best food I had in Marrakesh was at the Riad. Breakfast is also lovely! Highly recommend the food - hats off to the chef! We were also serenaded by Omar playing the guitar on the first night which was also amazing. But my favourite member of staff was Muad. Muad is an absolute pleasure to deal with on a daily basis. He has lovely mannerisms and he really made us feel welcome. If I ever come back to Marrakesh I’d love to stay here again. If you are thinking about booking, don’t hesitate - you’ll not be disappointed.
Palais Tinmel Marrakech

We stayed in the luxury suite and the room was absolutely gorgeous, complete with our own private patio. The riad itself is very spacious and beautiful, with plenty of areas to lounge around due to it being restored and combined with another riad. The staff were extremely kind, attentive, and accommodating. Special shout out to Nadya, Muhammad and Hamsa. The food they prepared for breakfast and dinner was summarily delicious. The staff had excellent recommendations for each meal we had at the riad, as well as great recommendations for lunch and dinner in Marrakech. The location within the medina is in a residential area, so it's fairly quiet at night.
