Hostel Vertigo Vieux-Port

Vieux Port - La Canebière
This is the first hostel where I stayed that hasn't tried to cramp in as many beds as possible in one room. Hence, the rooms are very spacious and very comfortable. They have at least two bathrooms and one toilet. Everything is kept very clean, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the hostel has a very nice location. Thank you for making my stay in M****ille pleasurable.

Mercure Marseille Centre Bompard la Corniche

We stayed here twice, each time for two nights. March and May 2022. This is a real gem of a hotel right in M****illes. We used this pet friendly hotel as a stopping point to break up our road trip. We stayed each time in one of the garden rooms which although snug, was immaculate and well equipped. Each room has a Nespresso with some complimentary coffee pods. There is also tea making facilities with a kettle. The bathroom was also delightful and again well equipped. The hotel has free secure parking, which is not common in this city. The hotel has lovely gardens and plenty of outside seating / tables. There is also a pool which was not open in March, but was in May. The Hotel has a snack menu that operates in the evening which was good. Donavon the maitre d’ / barman / waiter is a delight who is passionate about the hotel and the food. He explained in detail about the ingredients in the food that was on offer and is proud of all the locally sourced delights. His knowledge of wine was equally impressive. He made our stay both times, even better. The breakfast is continental style. The hotel was fine for us to use Deliveroo and have lunch delivered as they do not have a lunch service. We are planning to travel again in September and are keen to try and incorporate another visit to this lovely hotel.
Le Rhul

My husband and I stayed at Le Rhul for 2 nights and really enjoyed the property and the views. Definitely book a room with a view, as this will make your stay memorable. The room was fairly large with a roomy bathroom. There was a fridge in the room which was an added bonus (we would have loved a coffee maker, but there wasn't one). The bed was comfortable and everything was spotless. There is no elevator, so be prepared to drag luggage up the stairs. Staff was friendly, and spoke a little English, but they were certainly happy to help out with my French, which I appreciated. Our room had a very large window that opened up to the water. In the daytime, you can see all kinds of sailboats, swimmers, and people climbing on the rocks below. At night, you can spot a lighthouse in the distance. The restaurant could be improved, but we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Breakfast consisted of yogurt and bread. Not really worth the 10 Euro price, but hey - you have the view to look at while eating in bed. There's a busy road out front, but this didn't affect our sleep at all. There are lots of shops and restaurants in the area that are walkable, and the pizza place nearby was to die for! We will certainly return when visiting M****ille in the future.
Radisson Blu Hotel, Marseille Vieux Port

Vieux Port - La Canebière
The hotel is in a good location, opposite the old port of Marseille. A taxi from the train station costs about 10 Euros and it takes about 10 minutes. It is also close to the bus station. There are many choices of restaurants near the hotel, as well as tourist supplies stores selling Marseille soap. The hotel's breakfast options are not many, but the taste is ok. Except for toothbrushes and slippers, other toiletries are available in the room, as well as a kettle. The power conversion plug you bring cannot be used. You can borrow it at the front desk of the hotel and the credit card guarantees it. There is a library in front of the hotel, which is suitable for customers to relax. Water and cookies are provided. Overall a very good choice.
Novotel Marseille Vieux-Port

Vieux Port - La Canebière
The standards are not meet any expectations for 4 stars, especially for such a big chain like Accor it should be much higher than this. Everything in the classic room category is old and super dated: furniture is broken, the bed sheets are yellow from the numerous washings, sagging mattress, chipped doors, walls, wholes in the curtains, dirty chair and sofa (literally with the stains and scratches). Frankly speaking, don’t feel like to touch the surfaces. It feels like in a hostel room, 2 light spots in the room only, so just go to sleep after the sunset. Shower tap has an issue with the water mixer: it’s cold then suddenly it is very hot. Maybe it was a normal hotel with adequate level of cleanness, but it was 15 years ago, maybe more. The hotel desperately needs to be renovated asap. I got checked-in and went to my room, after first glance I realized there is completely nothing, only towels and liquid soap available. No bathrobes, no slippers, no simple electric kettle. AC doesn’t work (outside temperature is +23 C). Reception button on the phone not working. The number of reception written on the fire-alarm sign is wrong (just for another hotel). In case of emergency just help yourself. To make the story short, the reception offered me upgrade to Sofitel (next door 5-star-hotel, under the same hospitality group). They called me in 10 min and informed me that this “upgrade” will cost me 300€ per night instead of regular 400€. Basically, I was offered upgrade for my own money. Brilliant solution and after-sales service! Just a quick note I pay for my current stay in Novotel 186€ per night (special rate for Accor members fully prepaid 1 month in advance). After that I got a traditional excuse that all hotels in the city are fully booked. The next excuse was that the country where I came from has higher standards for the same category hotels :) and the French standards are like this. I love France and I know very well what I can expect. Firstly, I am not first time in France, secondly, even during this trip I stayed 4 nights in Cannes, but these two stays are completely different like night and day. Also I was offered to get a refund and just go and look for another hotel. Speechless. I am on my holidays, and my stay at M****ille is ruined completely.
