We enjoyed our stay here from check in to check out. We had a wonderful room with mountain view. The English-speaking receptionist kindly checked the time of sunrise for a stunning vista to remember. The hotel is in an excellent location within the walls of Marvao with guest parking at the door Our room was small but very comfortable with BBC world news the first in nearly 6 weeks. Excellent show with abundant hot water. A lift helped with luggage. Breakfast was very freshly prepared delicious fruit, cereals, breads and croissants, scrambled eggs, cheese, meats, jams more than anyone could eat with good coffee. From here we walked from end to end of Marvao and loved every minute. Thank you to our host and his lovely receptionist.

A pleasant hotel a little already needing works. The bathrooms are already in use. The floor and very old locks. For people with reduced mobility, it becomes very complicated only to have bathrooms. The breakfast is satisfactory. The hygiene tb is present in the rooms and inside the hotel. But walking through the pool patio we found some less careful part behind the breakfast room. But nothing worrying. In general, a pleasant hotel for a weekend.

Hotel with modern lines, friendly and comfortable staff, spacious room with a beautiful view of the pool. A breakfast within the expected but the surprise was kept for the excellent quality of the Chaparro restaurant, which made us broadly happy with the decision made to book with half-pense. Only a reserve for the necessary maintenance, especially on the ceiling of the indoor pool and some details of the room, but that do not change our will to return.

Hotel moderno e bem localizado no centro de Portalegre, sendo fácil o passeio pela cidade apenas a pé. Quarto moderno, com muita luz e muito espaço. O pequeno-almoço é variado, mas gostaria de ver um pouco mais de cuidado com alguns detalhes, por exemplo, os sumos estavam pouco frescos e alguns alimentos um pouco secos, julgo eu devido ao calor… o colchão é quente e as almofadas são muito baixas e muito quentes também.

Gostei de tudo . Desde a simpatia e o profissionalismo dos funcionárias que me receberam na recepção , do profissionalismo de quem me atendeu no restaurante , do quarto amplo e com tudo que pudesse necessitar, de estar situado perto de tudo e com vários locais a visitar muito perto-

We had booked a two-day stay in “Alter do Chão” at the hotel “Vila Galé de Alter do Chão and stayed in the Solar of the hotel. Both the main building and the Solar have an outdoor swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers. The room was very clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable, and we were not bothered by noise from the people at the pool. The breakfast was buffet style and there was more than enough choice, something for everyone. We had booked half board and in the evening this was also in buffet form, for people who want it differently, they can also eat á la carte, which of course can take a little longer. The reception is a bit on the slow side, but all in all not too bad, the staff is super friendly, the only downside is the road from the reception to the Solar, which has no pavement and is very uneven. Result with the high temperature, a lot of dust is stirred up, which can be a problem if you have to walk to the restaurant, and certainly when it rains (5 minutes on foot), there is also more than enough parking space at the solar. This hotel is certainly worth recommending, it has horses and a allot of birds of prey with museum.

Superb small hotel in the centre of the city. Impecable room furnished with tasty and adorable staff. Prices challengeing any competition. Superb stop to do in this beautiful city. Perfect place to discover the alentejo. I recommend 400%

«Monte da Esperanca» is een kleinschalig hotel aan de rand van het dorpje Esperança, vlakbij de Portugees-Spaanse grens. Wij verbleven hier 4 nachten in april tijdens een rondreis door centraal Portugal. Het hotel is super rustig gelegen. Wij hadden een smaakvolle twin kamer met comfortabele bedden, een bureau, een grote kledingkast, een kleine koelkast en een ruime badkamer met een ligbad en een buitendouche. Van het mooie zwembad hebben wij zo vroeg in het voorjaar geen gebruik gemaakt. Maar onze buurmannen hadden wel veel lol tijdens het zwemmen in het koude water. Het ontbijt was beperkt, aangezien dit ook een heel klein hotelletje is, maar de producten waren van een uitstekende kwaliteit. Een betere vers geperste jus d'orange heb ik misschien niet eerder in mijn leven gehad. Maar ook de ham en kaas waren uitstekend en de cake was volgens mij zelf gebakken. Verder kregen wij elke ochtend roerei en gebakken bacon, croissants en brood, yoghurt en vers fruit. De dames in de bediening waren uiterst vriendelijk en zorgzaam. Vanuit dit hotel hebben wij overdag mooie uitstapjes met de auto gemaakt: in het zuiden bezochten wij «Elvas» en «Vila Viçosa» en in het noorden het toeristische vestingplaatsje «Marvão» en het zeer gezellige stadje «Castelo de Vide», allebei gelegen in het uitgestrekte «Parque Natural da Serra de São Mamede» waar ook Esperança deel van uitmaakt. De laatste dag hebben wij een wandeling gemaakt vanuit het hotel. In het dorp Esperança vind je bij het postkantoor een grote kaart met de rondwandeling «PR1 ARR» van 15 km in 5:30 uur. Het is een schitterende wandeling die je door dit prachtige landschap leidt met talloze kurkeiken, olijfbomen, heuvels, in de lente langs bloemenweiden, schapenkudden en ook gieren die in de lucht hun rondjes draaien. De bewegwijzering is uitstekend. Alleen één keer, in het gehucht «Marco», ontbreekt een wegwijzer. Hier moet je vóór het allereerste huis rechts afslaan. Verder kom je tijdens de wandeling bij de Spaanse grens en ook bij bijzondere rotstekeningen, de «Pinturas Rupestres». Aan het einde van de wandeling kun je in het dorpje Esperança nog een drankje nemen op één van de terrassen van de café's. In het leuke stadje «Arronches», zo'n 10 km ten zuidwesten van Esperança, vind je verschillende goede en sympathieke en enkele uitstekende restaurants. Daarnaast vind je in Arronches ook café's, bars, kleine supermarkten, winkels, een apotheek en nog meer. Wij hebben genoten van ons verblijf in «Monte da Esperanca». Hopelijk komen wij nog een keer terug, ook vanwege de prachtige omgeving. En een hele lieve, grote hond hebben zij ook bij het hotel.
