Excellent traditional ryokan experience. Wonderful dinners and breakfasts every day, and the private reservable onsen was exactly what we were looking for. The area does require a cab ride from downtown Matsumoto but the very attentive staff asked every day when we would like the cab to arrive, making it easy to get back into town. Also being this far out meant it was a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Great stay, would absolutely go back.

The facility is very old due to its history, but it was well maintained and felt clean. However, the whole inn is cold anyway! There is not a single stove in the hallway or toilet. I caught a cold on the way home. The food was delicious for dinner, but the presentation and color were ordinary. Is this the only breakfast? I felt. How about having salmon flakes to accompany the rice? And 40 minutes for a private bath is too short. It should be at least an hour.

It had an image of a rustic hot spring inn due to its long history, but it was built in a modern Japanese style, with jazz playing in the background music. rice field. It's true that it's a long extension building in the back, so I was worried until I got used to it, but it's recommended for those who are over 50 years old, including myself. Maybe (laughs) For dinner, you can choose sashimi, grilled food, etc., and the amount is so much that you can't eat it all, and I was too full when I was eating soba. It was nice to make it yourself at the table, such as the breakfast omelet, freshly made soy milk tofu, and dried rainbow trout overnight. After breakfast, the coffee service made with hot spring water was brought back to the room, but it was delicious and delicious. I took the hot spring water home with me in a plastic bottle, and made a cup of coffee at home. The only drawback is the smell in the room. There is an air purifier, but is it a cigarette, dust, or air freshener? Although it was raining, I kept the window open all the time, and it was supposed to be non-smoking, but is the smell ingrained? The mattress was thin and my body hurt the next morning. Also, when using the private bath, I think it is safer for the front person to clean up after using it. I was a little worried because the shower handle was full of soap, the shower chair and tub were scattered, and there was trash in the trash can, and it was also a corona disaster. Overall, I think it's a comfortable inn with only friendly staff. Also, if there is an opportunity, I would like to visit again.

They let me use the private bath for consecutive nights (3 nights). From the second night. The third night is a bigger place.

Open-air bath, staff, food, room, alcohol, cleanliness , quietness etc. nothing to say. The moon and stars seen from the open-air bath were beautiful. All of the recommended drinks were delicious. Impressed by sashimi and cherry salmon. Soba was better than the soba I ate at Zenkoji. BGM, jazz at dinner. Baroque at breakfast. very nice song selection. Extra edition. When I left, I heard from the proprietress, "If you want to grill a bandit, Shiojiri." was delicious. thank you very much.

It is a small inn, the building is not new, and there are many stairs. It's not as well equipped as a large inn. However, you can tell how they are devising ways to match the building and equipment. The rooms are old but clean. Full amenities. A meal that makes you feel good. Above all, the bright and lively feeling of the staff is wonderful.
