Just returned from a 2 week stay at Jalsa. Having read all previous reviews, I’ll make my own opinion. It’s a 3 star hotel, in a hot country! We had a lovely time. Staff very friendly and try to please you at every turn. We found the food ok & edible. The drinks were plentiful. Very large room and clean. (307) Boat house (Youdish) very helpful in organising trips, far cheaper than the Reps. didn’t use Spar facilities so no comment. it was their winter, although still very warm, a few quick showers and warm wind most days. In conclusion, would I return, yes. Just because it says AI, a 3* hotel will not be the same as 5*. The holiday price reflects this.

This could really be a very good hotel if changes were made. My wife and I arrived at about 7pm after a long boring flight, we were quickly booked in and showed to our room which was quite large and looked very nice, room 118. We were told the restaurant was open so we dumped our bags and headed past the pool to the restaurant. We were so tired we never noticed our food. On return to our room we noticed two mice just outside our room patio door, but as they were outside we thought nothing of it. During the night I heard scratching but ignored it. The food in the restaurant was not good, very poor quality and not hot enough. At night in our room a mouse ran out of the shower room In front of us we opened the door and it went out, later my wife went into the shower room to see a mouse in the shower and it escaped behind the sink. We contacted reception who moved us up a level for the night, not much sleep that night. The next day we asked to see the manager for a room swap he was very rude and arrogant and said that it should be expected in a warm country, if we wanted to stop them getting in keep the door closed and put towels down at the bottom of the door! He then showed us to a different room 110. He wasn't pleasant at all and when I said people were saying that if mice were in the rooms they could also be in the restaurant and kitchen. The manager got a bit irate at the suggestion and told us there was no chance of that happening. The next day at lunch a woman on the table next to us screamed and two mice ran through the restaurant. When the manager came he saw us and looked very embarrassed and angry. The manager I was told later was the restaurant and food manager. We received no apology at all from the manager at all. He thought it was the guests fault for daring to open the patio doors. The restaurant looked nice, but the food was of very poor quality probably the worst we have encountered at an all inclusive hotel. Only one person who we spoke to said the food was ok. Even a rep told me everyone complains about the food. Drinks are limited in choice. Coffee terrible. The pool area was about the best part, very sociable. The female staff were really happy and friendly especially Coosie*. Who were brilliant. The men were good but not as friendly. Would we recommend this hotel. No

Loved the size of the hotel, everythings was within a couple of mins walking distance. Gardens, pool, large rooms, staff, poolbar all great. Not a lot of choice of dishes in the restaurant, but what there was, was really nice, and well cooked. In the evenings there is only 1 bar open, which is upstairs with a nice big outside terrace. But not suitable for people with walking difficulties., steps are quite steep. The pool bar had 2 lovely seating areas, which are well lit all night but the bar shuts at 7pm. The biggest let down of this hotel is the lack of a beach, everyone nicknamed the Hotel Jalsa NO Beach, it was like a tyre scrapyard. pictures of the beach online are very deceiving, especially on the TUI website, and the Hotel's own website.

My husband and I stayed here for three days. The staff at reception wsa very welcoming and our room was lovely with great views and balconies. The staff was very nice and friendly from cleaning to the Spa. The food was very basic with little variety. Very surprisingly fruit and vegetables were limited in an island with an abundance of fresh produce. Drinks on the all inclusive were basic and no choice. Our main concern was the rodents that ran along the deck in the restaurant. On our first night we saw a white rodent (like a small rat) and on our second night we saw four mice under the tables and even in the inside restaurant. We alerted staff on all occasions, but they didn't seem a bit perturbed. There was not evidence of pest control on site. It made for very uncomfortable dining and we were glad to leave

I have never been so disappointed in my life hardly any sunbeds towels are hidden for the French guests, I saw the worst animal cruelty I've ever seen cried so much the man beat a little puppy that was dumped on the beach the English all loved her but the staff all hated her one of the men who sweep the grass beat her with a rake restrained me so I couldn't help her. Manager thinks he's a king terrible man I would never ever recommend anyone to come here rooms are clean . Long story short I've took the puppy to a shelter and I'm taking her to England with me

My husband and I came here with three of our daughters who were really looking forward to this holiday since it was their first visit to Mauritius. The hotel is nice and clean, the rooms big and spacious. It was a set back that we could not enjoy lunch on arrival , it would cost 900 mur extra per person. Lunch and dinner were good, breakfast not so much. Bacon was over cooked, scrambled eggs watery.. Jalsa Beach Hotel is a very quiet place to stay and that was all right with us. However it would be nice with more activity in the pool, not just for French guests as we were told. The restaurant manager was very helpful in every way. The girls in the reception were also polite and accommodating. The girls borrowed bicycles from the hotel and as they afterwards commented, worst bicycles in history, ready for the scrapheap. Sorry. Besides some negatives, we enjoyed our stay and would like to return someday.

Hello Everyone. Just wanted to let people know of our experience for the first time in Mauritius. Left England on 2nd February on a Sunday. Heading for Manchester airport from Leicester for a well earned 2 week break. Flew out to Dubai airport with Emirates air lines. Wow first time on a double Decker aircraft and the entertainment on board was well nice along with the food and the crew members was a very enjoyable trip. We checked into our hotel Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa, situated East South of the island and a bus stop away to the next town. All the services were excellent and coming back to a clean room after breakfast. The maids service was excellent and always helpful. The food in the restaurant was delicious and variety options given. The Chef Soudhi was excellent and any requests made to him would be accommodating. The trainee apprenticeship chef Satiam, Adathya, Abhishek were very helpful, especially Satiam, with taking the icecream for me. Rajan the restaurant manager always at hand if we needed him, full of information and knowledge. Manisha, Sheshna, Vinisha, Dhiresh, Avinash, Neal do a very hard job of serving the guests in the restaurant and the bar areas. Yoodish the worker who is based at the Boathouse is an absolute Gem! and looked after the two large shells we found and covered it under the sand for over a week. Finally, cannot thank enough to the front desk team Katsia, Oranne, Adeep and Avi who also does once a week DJ for the entertainment. Talking about entertainment. must not forget Ansi, Alison and Ivanson, who are employed predominantly for the French tourists but they offer their support to all guest of the hotel. I have to mention Katsia, she is very good at her job and will sort out whatever query you have with a professional and helpful manner, she should be promoted. We would definitely recommend The Jalsa Beach Hotel & Spa if you just want to relax and soak up the sun, with excellent, friendly service.
