We booked last minute and this was only hotel listed as 5 star that was available. Rooms are cozy and food is great. However a few big negatives: - Far from town and shuttle service very unreliable - Staff is fine but clearly not 5 star level - Rooms are fine for family but not what we are used to in 5 star hotels

This was our 7th time at the Alpaga Hotel in Megeve and the experience was excellent as always. The service from Maxime and the team was first class, they could not do enough for us. We look forward to returning to Megeve and L'Alpaga next year.

I loved Alpaga. I came with my family and had a chalet which was AMAZING. We had so much space and so comfortable. The staff is great! The team at breakfast is wonderful! They make breakfast a treat. I loved the location just out of town. The views are extraordinary. The site is great. Megève is really something special. The food everywhere was Crazy good.

Really disappointing stay which was meant to be a special holiday for a birthday. Although aesthetically a really beautiful place that has been really well finished, and a couple of really good members of staff, we largely found some of the service and staff to really let this hotel down. Sadly I won't be returning, and wouldn't be classing this as a 5 star hotel for the experience we had.

We've eaten at a number of restaurants with Michelin stars but there is a real point of difference with the food here. The staff are very friendly and helpful and made great efforts to explain the complex dishes to us in English. We're not of the Instagram generation but even I wanted to take a photo of the desert it was so intricate. We had a smaller room but the storage space was very well engineered which meant it was far superior to larger rooms we've stayed in elsewhere. A shout out to the barman who likes to experiment with infusions which means the drinks are as interesting as the food. The only down side was the run in with what I assume was the marketing team who had no issue with inconveniencing staff and guests alike. I took exception to them ruining afternoon tea and one of them laughed in my face. At that point words were exchanged and expectations were reset. The pair of prententious ****** running the show were put back in their box. Only the photographer had any manners I apologise for any unease he felt. I'm unsure how the marketing team reconcile trying to attract customers while being rude to the ones they already have. They thought they ran the place when in fact they're second fiddle to hardworking staff who provide the service. Marketing staff do not provide a 5 star service the waiters, housekeeping and others provide the experience.

Eleven of us had the pleasure of spending 4 nights in the beautiful Chalet Eustache at the Alpaga Hotel in Megeve in January 2024. Before we arrived Emily and team had done a wonderful job in going above and beyond to organize everything at the hotel, transfers, restaurant bookings, ski hire and the likes so huge thanks to her. This theme of extremely friendly and attentive staff continued as we arrived and throughout our stay with all the staff making us feel very welcome and huge thanks to Julian who also went above and beyond to drive us around, organize items for us. The hotel itself is in a lovely location and as described is pretty much a small hamlet of interconnected chalets, gardens and main buildings. All very stylishly decorated and furnished and very well presented throughout. The hotel is away from Megeve town though and does require a shuttle bus journey for skiing and restaurants in town in the evening. Contrary to some of the other reviews we never had a problem in the shuttle turning up multiple times when requested although we were out of season. Chalet Eustache was a delight to stay in and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our time. The chalet itself is a lovely mix of traditional wooden style that you would expect in a ski resort but wonderfully complemented with modern furnishings, large balconies and lounge / dining areas as you would expect. The pool area, hammam, outside jacuzzi & sauna were wonderful additions and staff were on hand to look after us whenever we needed. The La Table restaurant did a great job of catering for the various food intolerances across our group and the staff were always at hand as needed. The Michelin restaurant experience was a definite delight & the sommelier and waitresses made it a very enjoyable and friendly evening with some amazing, if not different food courses! The only criticisms we would mention were that the breakfast staff could do with being a bit more organised & writing down all the orders so not to lose track, and that the front reception desk really needs to be manned at all times, but again we were there in a quiet time of the year. All in all it was a great hotel in Megeve, with wonderful people and service. Please keep up the good work and cant wait to come back again with the family!! Huge thanks & see you again.

Our suite was cozy and the view of the mountains was nice. This property is a 25 minute walk to town. There is a shuttle service that is terrible. The shuttle was always late. The front desk lied to us on multiple occasions when we called asking where the driver was since our last call. She repeatedly told us he "is on his way" (the hotel is a 5 minute car ride to designated pickup location). The drivers never held an arm to help step up or out of the high van. They never held an umbrella in the rain to walk from hotel to van. These are features of true 5 star hotels. The last night we were picked up at the only designated location and driver than proceeded to drive up into the mountains to pick up another couple at an out of the way hotel...why? You reported to us you only had ONE pickup location. We were told we had to book the sauna and hot tub so that they could clean between guests...great idea right? Except each time we used the hot tub the same dirty towels were stacked up from previous days. There were no clean towels so you had to run back to room to grab a bath towel. Dirty cups and dishes left at hot tub. Clearly evidence these were not cleaned between guests. On multiple occasions I saw no clean linen napkin at bread cutting board and observed guests using bare hands to touch baguettes. No tongs at croissant basket, again guests dipping their hands in to grab pastries. Again....not features of a true 5 star hotel. I would suggest the manager Maxime pretend he is a guest and walk the property several times a day to observe what we observed. Go into town and have somebody else call as a disguised guest for a ride and time your wait. The muffin upon arrival was a nice gesture but for a suite that sleeps 4 people maybe leave a few muffins? Housekeeping was great.

I had been to the Alpaga Hotel a few years back for dinner and had fond memories of the place, so we were looking forward to our stay there. We booked a suite and had high expectations, however, we ended up being very disappointed on many levels. - Firstly, the suite itself was very disappointing. Not cosy but pretty basic. The small bed room had two single beds and two wooden stools as nightstands - that's it. Plus the ceiling were so low that you could barely stand up. The main bedroom had Queen bed and a tiny bathroom ensuite but was equally unexciting. - Secondly, we were not happy with the service. The hotel is out of town but does not have a good shuttle to the ski-lifts. The first day they promised to pick us up but we ended up waiting for 40 min until the receptionist showed up to collect us. Overall, we had the feeling the place needs new management, everyone was about 25 and had no clue what they were doing. - Thirdly, the place lacks management that is on top of things and puts some heart into the operations. For instance, there was cleaning equipment left in the room when we checked-in, but no wood for the fireplace (which also did not work very well even after we got some wood..). There is a cute little sauna outside that one can book for private use, but we found to be quite dirty and there were towels and water bottles from previous users, at the same time there were neither towels or water anywhere to find and not event a little bench or something to sit on (the sauna is a little hut outside). - Summary of our stay: they ask for a crazy high price for a super basic room, provide very basic service and do not have a good "ski game", e.g. not ski room, poor transportation to the slopes, etc. Place needs new management very urgently!
