Sheraton Metairie - New Orleans Hotel
3.7/597 Reviews
If this hotel isn’t kicked out of the Marriott family of brands soon, I’ll be shocked. We stayed at the Sheraton Metairie for two nights in April, and I haven’t seen a place this sad. At least fleabag hotels expect to be fleabags, and there is a certain expectation. But this hotel is a Sheraton! How does the usually high-quality Marriott company let this happen with one of their hotels? I was going to complain to Marriott and took some notes: - Room smelled like it had been smoked in; hotel is non-smoking - Several Stains on Carpet - A/C intake was dusty; when is the last time they changed the filter? - The leather headboard was all scratched up, badly. - It was dusty under the bed, with leftover items from previous guests (including Cheetos) - Dust and grime clinging to floor lamp - No mention of housekeeping protocols for Covid, and there was no housekeeping during our stay. - Cable TV not plugged in; although I was able to DIY and connect the HDMI to the cable box. - Torn lampshade on bedside lamp. - The finish was coming off the wood in bathroom - Grime on back of bathroom door. - Bedskirt was filthy!! - Ice maker on 5th floor didn’t work; had to go to 6th floor. - Breakfast took nearly an hour to arrive after ordering (at least they comped it) - The bar staff was nice but completely untrained. When I asked for the same glass of red wine my wife was having, I was brought what looked like Moscato, because they were out of red wine. - The bar itself had almost no alcohol available. Limited beer, no red wine, virtually no liquor. But everything they had was $3, so there’s that. - The front desk wanted to charge me $6 for a small bag of popcorn. Either that was the actual price of a larger bag, or the hotel is price gouging. Hotel is not set up to simply scan the bar codes of items, and they instead go off a price list at the desk. - Complete and utter indifference from management. While we were sitting for an hour at breakfast, the other group in the restaurant appeared to be the manager and maybe the owners? Or maybe it was Marriott reps. They were asking what it would take to get a good review. Yet they watched us wait an hour for breakfast and said nothing. Hopefully, they will see this review and do something. The reality is this place needs to be shut down and redone from top to bottom. Get more staff and actually train them. Stock the bar. Clean the rooms; and actually look under the bed. Older hotels don’t bother me; but when a hotel doesn’t live up to the basic cleanliness and service standards that their brand entails, that’s just not acceptable.

Jessica at the bar is by far the best. Go see her at the bar and grill for good food and a good drink. She keeps the restaurant running like a well oiled machine. The food is good it’s worth the wait and the drinks Jessica makes are good. Go and see for yourself
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Metairie (New Orleans), La

We had a lovely stay at the Country Inn & Suites, Metairie the second week of March 2023. We booked the hotel through our credit card and check in was a piece of cake. They do ask for your plate # and a credit card for incidentals, so make sure you snap a picture of your plate when going in to check in -- it'll also come in handy for paying to park around the city as well. Our room was in the main building and it was quiet and felt safe. My family enjoyed the breakfast and the variety every morning. The location was terrific and we found that going out the side of the parking lot and then using the side streets, it was easier than trying to navigate the u-turns on the main highway. I was surprised that our room was serviced every day during our stay as other brands of hotels still have a once every 3 day policy. There seemed to be a variety of workmen, nurses staying at the hotel as well as families and a tour group bus. The front end girls were terrific and always had a smile on their face!

We had just drove 12 hours and needed a hotel near where we were going. Over 250 dollars later for 2 nights we got to our room which had hair in the tub, cable line cover ripped off wall with a hole in wall, and no tv because batteries in remote were dead. We said ok just go to sleep and tell them in the morning. Woke up to coffee pot not working as well. We figured out that the surge protector was shot as they had the TV, the cable box, the fridge, the microwave, and the coffee pot plugged in to it. We told the front desk and they changed our room. After getting to the new room the patio door was broken and all the ac air was leaking out the space created by the door not closing all the way. The outdoor pool is also not as pictured, the water is green and nasty. We will not stay there anymore and they should not have 3 stars. Also the health department should take a look at the ice machine on the second floor as it has mold. Definitely not worth what they charge to stay there.
Sleep Inn & Suites Metairie

No one number describes the Sleep Inn. If you're in town for a major event (Final Four at the Superdome, in our case) and you want a good location with a clean, quiet hotel room at a reasonable price, you're in the right place - hence the 4. The front desk employees were kind and knowledgeable, and the hotel had the essentials. Just don't put anyone you love on the mattress from the sofa bed. Even placed on the floor, it pressed coils into your back and was rackety. On the other hand, if you're hoping for a hotel with some amenities, you should probably pay the extra money to get them somewhere else. The breakfast is a hot meal only if you put the instant oatmeal or generic sliders into the microwave. No eggs, no fruit, no juice. The business center is a table with a computer by the front door. The furniture is dated, is somewhat flimsy, and occasionally has sharp edges. But: Remember, you've got a fridge and MW, and a full grocery at Target, a mile away. With a little effort, you can have all the elements of a great breakfast in your own room. And the front desk staff are accommodating. If you ask nicely, one of you can work from the breakfast room (or down the road at Cafe Du Monde) while the other works from the room. If you're resourceful and don't need topnotch furnishings, you really can make this work. Just don't plan on sleeping on the sleep sofa.
