I've now stayed here twice and both times have been amazing. Chikurakan has different room types available. My first stay was a traditional room with mattresses/futons layed out after dinner. The next stay had that available plus a standard king size bed. Both rooms had an private outdoor onsen/bath and shower. They are totally private and it's so nice to bath on your own little area. The food at Chikurakan is amazing. Traditional Japanese dishes with primarily seafood. I cant say enough good things about this hotel and will always stay here when i am in the area.

There is a shower booth in the room, but there is a shuttle service to a nearby hot spring. I would like to use it next time. You can bring your dog with you when you eat. It's a loose seat, so you don't feel cramped. My dog was worried about other dogs and started talking about it, but there was a seat that could be separated by a glass door, so I used it. Breakfast and dinner are not the common frozen menu for pensions, but they are made after receiving an order, so they are delicious. All the staff are kind and I would like to stay again.
