The Marquette Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

The Marquette Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

I recently stayed here for work travel and loved it. My room was quiet, clean, spacious, and relaxing. I had a king bed which was soft and comfortable. I slept very well, which is saying a lot because I typically don't sleep well when I'm traveling. I loved the ”wall of windows”. Bathroom was a nice size with decent counter space to unpack all of my toiletries, also with a nice size shower. Plenty of cabinets and drawers. I really liked that the drawers had the soft touch closures where they stop about the last inch or so and slowly close so that there is no slamming. Keeps the noise down from other rooms. The doors are thick so there is actual privacy when you close the bathroom door. There is a nice big desk to set up a computer and the rooms has lots of plugs - there is also a wireless charging station by the bed. The lamps by the bed have dimmer switches so you can adjust the amount of lighting that you want, so you don't have to wake up in the morning and just be blinded with super bright light. That was nice. The exercise room had a decent selection - treadmills, elliptical, a Peloton (with straps, so you don't need clip shoes to use it), a nice set of free weights, and a bench. I wish there was a Smith machine or something, but there might not be enough room for that. But you can get a decent workout with the weights. The staff was really friendly to me. The thing I think I appreciate the most is that I was able to check in really early. I was already in the city at another hotel the previous weekend for a wedding and was staying for work, and had to check out of that hotel by noon. The Marquette allowed me to immediately check in to their hotel at noon instead of 3:00, so that was awesome. I was able to settle in immediately. That was above and beyond customer service. Also a plus - it's connected to an atrium with restaurants, shops, and skyways. Super cool. Overall I highly recommend. I'll go there again if I'm ever back in Minneapolis.

AC Hotel by Marriott Minneapolis Downtown

AC Hotel by Marriott Minneapolis Downtown

Minneapolis|0.51km from city center
Staff was great. Some reviews have mentioned the ”sketchy” neighborhood, but it really isn't. Those strip clubs nearby have been there a lot longer than the AC Hotel or the Four Seasons next door. There are also many fine dining establishments nearby, including the famous Murray's steakhouse, 112 Eatery, and many more. Check out Bunker's Music Club too, one of the best smaller live music venues in the country. Back to the AC. Our bed was great, room surprisingly quiet (back side) and well appointed. Bathroom needed some minor repair work that housekeeping should have reported, but it wasn't worth call engineering up on a two night stay. These hotels have nice appointments and design, but aren't really full service like a Marriott. I would rate it five stars except for a couple things. $35 parking fee was disclosed, but I was very surprised to find that was a self-parking rate, not valet. It's not a terribly long way, but not all that convenient either. The other thing was being told when we checked in that because we were just staying two nights we would not receive housekeeping. It is standard these days to give guests a choice on short stays, and we often would forgo it, but it's not normal to just bluntly inform them they won't receive housekeeping for a $200 a night room. We didn't care much for that, and ended up having to call for fresh coffee supplies and towels and such anyway. I'd stay there again, the staff was very good and friendly, but they could sharpen up a bit.

My son and I stayed here for 6 nights 7/2-7/8 for a national fencing tournament at the convention center. Agatha at the front desk was stellar. She was welcoming and could not have been more helpful. Also, Adam in the Living Room bar (lobby bar) was very good too. He knew my drink, remembered my name and was good with conversation. All the staff we met were really friendly and helpful. W does a great job with interior design and this hotel is the perfect mix of original Art Deco design and modern interior. Common areas are sleek, and lighting is interesting. I did not like the lack of good lighting in the elevator, as I always had to use my phone to light up the floor numbers. We stayed on the 16th floor in a 2-queen room. The room was very clean, small, and there is minimal storage, Beds and linens are comfortable. If you are staying for more than a couple days and want to unpack, there is only a small, 2 drawer unit that does not hold much. The bathroom is large and well appointed, and the bath products smell amazing. My issue is the rain shower mounted overhead, rather than a wall mounted shower head. As a woman who does not wash her hair every day, I struggled to keep my hair dry and had to do the in and out dance as the water fell from above. My son did not like it either. This type of shower is not as satisfying as a wall mounted shower head that blasts you. I also wish that the room had a regular coffee maker rather than an espresso machine. with tiny cups. There is free coffee in the lobby, but who wants to go down 16 floors for a cup of coffee, and have to return to your room? There is a diner called Keys, attached to the hotel that is really good for breakfast and lunch. The observation deck at the top of the building is great too. I had drinks with friends in the lobby bar, the Living Room, and we all enjoyed the cool, comfortable space and good service. Interestingly enough, we got to watch a pimp with 2 ladies of the evening do business with a man sitting at the bar. This very intoxicated, elderly man left arm in arm with 2 young, scantily clad 'ladies'. No one who worked there seemed at all concerned, or for that matter surprised. Overall, I liked this hotel, I liked the staff, but the room fell a little short for me on size, functionality and that silly rain shower.

Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, the Depot

Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, the Depot

Minneapolis|0.33km from Downtown West
This is a difficult review to write. I understand that in a pandemic, hotels are getting crushed financially and must make adjustments to survive. But they should disclose upfront what they are doing. In this case, the Renaissance is adjacent to the Marriott Residence Inn. They are actually two sides of the same building. They have closed all public areas of the Renaissance, and you now check in and enter through the front desk of the Residence Inn, connected by a long hallway to the Renaissance. The Renaissance Depot advertises itself as being in the Milwaukee Road Depot but in fact all of those historic areas of the hotel shown on the website (such as the Great Hall) are closed, and that train station was the main reason I chose this hotel. The breakfast is a bag with an orange, a small yogurt, and an Otis Spunkmeyer wrapped muffin. None of this is disclosed on the website. Meanwhile, they are charging a higher price then the Residence Inn but with none of the amenities. The two main Renaissance elevators are closed. One small side elevator is still in use. The sign says use of the elevator is limited to one person. Luckily hotel occupancy was low, so that wasn't a big issue. The rooms were fine except there are no drawers or shelves -- just a luggage rack. There was no bath tub -- just a full-sized shower. The front desk staff were exceedingly nice. The hotel is very close to central downtown. Very convenient to the historic mills and the stone bridge.

Minneapolis Marriott City Center

Stayed here for eight nights in July while my niece competed in USA Fencing Nationals. Staff, especially Thomas, Melonie, and Jason were very friendly and handled all of our requests with a smile. Thomas was even able to put our three rooms under three separate reservations on the same floor and within a few feet of each other despite our specific room layout requests which weren't made until check in. The staff really went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The hotel has just completed a complete overhaul and the rooms and common areas were clean, modern, and comfortable. There were two negative points though. We had a shower only room and the weatherstripping on the shower door seemed to have been damaged at some point, resulting in a very wet bathroom floor after each shower. Engineering showed up immediately after we notified the front desk and attempted to find and fix the leak; however, did not succeed. Our work-around was make a temporary seal using extra towels. Second negative was for the loud music deep into the weekend nights coming from a club a block away. Overall, the property was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located with very friendly staff who went above and beyond to make our stay a very positive experience.

This was in a great location, very safe, I read nervous trying to find a place to park in other to check in but it went fine. It costs but I highly recommend pushing. I used the underground parkng for extra security. Fun style to the room. Safe in room. Cost space, ice bucket, fridge, TV. Lots of plans everywhere for electronic. Yep shade in the large window one to block sun another to let light in. Nice Good restaurant in site It is safe because you need your key for your room, EV Elevators, to get to unwind parking and lobby bathroom ! Highly recommended!

Stumbled in to the hotel bar for a few quick drinks before work and was immediately met by the bartender Jonathan with a warm smile and great conversation. Definitely the pump up I needed to have a really great night on the job! He was quick with his service and incredibly friendly and deserves a shoutout for a really great Screwdriver
