This onsen resort is about 70 mins by public bus berth no. 33 at level 3 from Hakata Bus Terminal (beside Hakata Station). The bus ride is smooth and it stops right in front of the onsen resort. Really convenient! On alighting, a staff greeted us right away. Confirmed we have a reservation with us and immediately helped us with our luggage into the resort. There are English speaking staff for foreigners. They are really good. For our stay, we were check-in by Mr. Umesh. He provides the information needed for us to enjoy our stay there. We stayed for 2 nights and he gave good information on the vicinity within about 15-20mins stroll. According to what I read, the resort started in 1958. It maintains the good tradition and a nostalgic experience. For the years this resort has been running, I really feel is well maintained. One priceless charm that caught my attention is the really big old tree along the Inunaki river. An awesome sight that the resort structure built around it. For the meals provided, we are so satisfied. We really wish to thank the kitchen staff for the wonderful meals they prepared for us. We were served Kaiseki-ryōri on the first night. And on the second, omakase. Our breakfast are equally satisfying! For our meals, we like to also specially mentioned Miss Susmita, an English speaking staff. She is proactive and attentive. The onsen are really good. I strongly recommend to make a trip up the hill to the outdoor onsen behind the resort. Do remember to bring along the towel. Staff are friendly and for non-English speaking staff, they also make effort to communicate with us using translation Apps. All in all, highly recommended for any English speaking visitors.

It was so good, I really wished I could have stayed longer. It's definitely a place I'd visit again! On a separate note, when I visited in January, I booked the shuttle beforehand, which was convenient. However, in April, my flight arrived late, so I took the bus, and I was so tired. I tried to take the shuttle on my departure day, but it wasn't available. (You really need to book the shuttle in advance, even for a one-way trip!) I mistakenly didn't pre-book the shuttle, so I requested a taxi and asked about the fare. The ryokan counter initially quoted around 4,000 yen. Later, a staff member came to my dinner table and mentioned a 1,000 yen call-out fee, which I agreed to. However, the next morning when I arrived at Sasaguri Station, the fare was 5,100 yen! Including the call-out fee, it came to 6,100 yen, which was much more than the initial 4,000 yen. It was a mishap where what should have been a 2,200 yen bus fare for two people ended up being 6,100 yen. Staff, please be aware: the taxi fare from the ryokan to Sasaguri Station is 5,100 yen!

At this price, I doubt you could find a traditional ryokan experience like this in Japan. The staff are all incredibly friendly and eager to help. The pick-up and drop-off service to Sasaguri is also a huge plus. My only regret is that check-out felt too short... that's my one disappointment. It would be nice if check-out could be extended, even if check-in is a bit later. It's a shame that the outdoor rotenburo (open-air bath) timing is after check-out. I will definitely be back, and next time I plan to stay for at least two nights. A huge thank you to all the staff who made my stay so memorable!

This is my second stay at Nansuikaku. The location isn't the most convenient, as it takes over an hour by bus from Hakata Bus Terminal towards Nogata, but the facilities, like the walking paths and open-air baths, are good. The sound of the stream from the room is especially healing. It's a bit of a shame that the main public bath doesn't have an open-air section.

Fantastic hotel and the breakfast/ dinner were beyond expectations! The shuttle service was friendly and needlessly to say onsen facilities were incredible too. I would like to come back again with my family.
