Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo

I can only describe my accommodation experience with perfection. The room is facing the harbour, the scenery is charming, the room is quite big, and the design is very tasteful. The design of the double lobby, the overall design of the hotel is the temperament of the European aristocrats, the spa is very good, the pool is great. A place where you can go to vacation every year!

Just returned from 3,days at this hotel. We were four couples, two couples in our 50’s and two couples in their 20s. We all loved it. Decor in communal areas and in the rooms is stylish. Rooms are large and comfortable with stunning views and spacious balconies. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality. All of the staff were welcoming and helpful and a special mention to those in guest services who offered us valuable advice, booked restaurants for us and provided us transport in the courtesy bus when taxis for 8 were difficult to source. They could not have been more helpful. Rooms were cleaned daily and were spotless. The pool area is lovely and we had no problem getting sunbeds. Lying there looking out to sea whilst watching the helicoptered coming and going was bliss. Fantastic hotel we had a wonderful stay and felt it offered excellent value. Cannot wait to return as 3 days was not long enough!

We had booked a Horizon suite at this hotel, one if the more expensive suites. Prior to booking this suite I had called the hotel to confirm that the two room suite which has two double beds and a sofa bef accommodate my family of 2 adults and 3 kids, two of whom are quite young. The person I spoke with at the hotel prior to booking the Horizon suite confirmed that it would. If they had said no (as did another hotel for one of their suites) I would have booked 2 rooms (which I did for the other hotel). So I booked the Horizon suite and put in just the number of adults in the party - this is because the online system would not allow me to book the room putting in two adults and 3 kids for this suite. I was comfortable doing this since the hotel employee had confirned to me that the suite would be able to accommodate us. Fast forward a few weeks and we arrive at the hotel to be met with a stern check in person named Valentina who curtly told us that we could not check in with our kids. The booking was only for 2 adults and she would not be able to let the kids in the hotel. We were just stunned at the language and tone used by Valentina. We pleaded and she stepped inside the back office to see what she could do. She came and told us we could take the room if we paid and additional €65 a night. Mind you this is a room that had a rate of €1700+ a night. Given that we were there and didnt have another hotel close by that we could go to we took accepted the additional charge. But more than the additional charge what really stuck out for us was the way Valentina berated and talked down to us. We at least expected a smile, a hello and pleasant check in. The €65 additional charge is less of an issue for someone who is paying €1700+ for the toom as long as you are nice and pleasant. We cut our stay short and left earlier than planned. On the day we were supposed to check out (we had indicated we would be checking out around noon) a security person showed up at our door promptly at 12 noon just as we were about to head down. As platinum member with Marriott I usually get a few minutes grace to check out. Never have had security sent up exactly at noon. The front desk staff at check out was more diverse and courteous and was shocked to hear the treatment meted out to us by Valentina. We spoke to the supervisor at that time and he listened to us patiently but didnt say he would do anything about it. We had several other minor instances of poor treatment here at the time of departure (eg bellmen ignoring us and not offering any help in loading our car, parking person berating us to move when a taxi was blocking us in front etc.) and in the restuarants (more egregious that the departure ones) that I dont want to take away from the main message of how we were spoken to and treated by Valentina. This ranks as the absolute worst front desk experience for me in my 2000+ nights of hotel stays over the years. But looking back perhaps this hotel has a c
Novotel Monte-Carlo

4 nights in Monte Carlo and happy with my stay at Novotel. It is reasonably priced for a 4 star hotel in Monte Carlo which is notoriously expensive to stay. The room was nice, nice pool area, indoor/outdoor breakfast area/ restaurant next to the pool, room size was ok, clean and modern. Princess Charlotte road is up the hill, not on the flat, but is near the train station. If you are flying to Monte Carlo you have to go via Nice and either get the train (a 15 min walk from the airport, you'll need gps maps to find it) or catch the Express shuttle bus L110 Nice airport to Monte Carlo (Euro22 one way, you pay as you get on the bus). The bus stop is in the No 1 coach bus stop right outside Nice T2. I caught the bus which had great scenic views.

Our stay was at the end of July ,and we had a two night stay. We had two sea view rooms, with lovely views ,the rooms being clean and very comfortable. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar and also at the Horizon Rooftop, where we had both breakfast and lunch. The breakfast is excellent, so much choice plus a chef for eggs of your choice etc. The lunch buffet is also excellent , and complimentary bottled water included. We took a trip to the beach - you get transported in a buggy so no walking , and we enjoyed our morning there - you will be allocated to The Fairmonts beds rather than choosing your position, but theses beds are complimentary. The toilet , lockers and shower facilities here are very good. We also used the pool (Nikki Beach). Again the Fairmont guests have an area of complimentary sun beds - not the large day beds directly by the pool, but for us that wasn’t a problem as ours were a little quieter. We did have a 6 year old with us and we had fun in the pool - he was the only child there though! The Fairmont is not cheap - everything is expensive…..but that is what we expected from Monte Carlo. It is in an excellent position, has a fantastic view over the hairpin, staff brilliant, food and drinks top notch, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

At the yacht show it seems that all services should be absent and should not be expected. Just check in anyway and don't expect too much. The room was fairly comfortable, small and outdated. The public facilities look super five stars and the rooms four stars. Super super many young female internet celebrities taking photos in the lobby is strange anyway. I wouldn't be here if I could choose a few others at the same level. Because all others are full. Checking out is super slow, very slow, wait a long time, and then swipe for a long time, for no special reason is long. all in all I have absolutely no comments, not bad, not great either, easily forgotten.
