Hotel Meublè Agavi

Described as a Hotel, it isn’t. More a large house with rooms. No ground floor entrance reception. Owner checks you in BEFORE 4 pm, after this time there is no one on the premises. First floor there are 8 guest rooms. Floors two and three are let to tenants. No lift. Access to our room was through three separate locking doors. No TV or tea and coffee facilities provided. Furniture is old, basic and minimal. No curtains on the windows, only exterior shutters which were difficult to close and let in the light anyway. Bathroom minuscule. ‘Towels’ were wafer thin and more like a small tablecloth. Similarly the bed blanket was cheap and thin resulting in a cold, uncomfortable night. Wifi was advertised but didn’t stretch as far as our room. Room had a nice view of the bay but was situated above a busy cafe to the left and restaurant to the right. The Cinqueterre promenade is right outside the property. This resulted in noise and smells from the early morning until very late at night. In reality this is a student hostel worth about €60 per night. We were charged €450 for three nights. After one night we stated our deep concerns and clear misrepresentation of the accommodation description. The owner was unwilling to refund anything and we moved on to another hotel and ‘wrote off’ €300. You have been warned.
