The photos don't do this place justice. Sibu Lodge is adorably furnished, comfortable, and well-appointed. The landscape architecture is phenomenal. The food at the restaurant is really yummy and the staff is top knotch. I came here with a tour group — and our stay was magical. We saw all sorts of wildlife including an adorable little green toucan. Elain, our waiter in the restaurant, was friendly, attentive and brought us a flaming drink as a surprise which was really sweet. Every night during our trip, a wonderful thunderstorm rolled in — which gave the lounge area an extra cozy feeling. The chai lattes and deserts were top knotch there. I also felt very safe as a female traveler. The beds were comfy and the rooms were just right. My only complaint is that I wish the shower was a bit easier to work. Too many knobs. But, don't let that dissaude you. This place is perfection. I only wished I could've stayed longer. Monteverde is a beautiful town with so many amazing things to do and really great food. I will certainly be coming back to stay.

Our family of 5 stayed 3 nights in 2 adjacent rooms at Sibu Lodge June 19-21. Check in was friendly and smooth. The hotel has been completely renovated so every space feels new, modern and spotlessly clean. The rooms aren’t huge but they are immaculate, tastefully decorated, and so comfortable. We stayed in forest superior rooms each with 1 queen + 1 single. We were able to stream on all of our favorite platforms on the huge televisions which was especially great on rainy afternoons. The bathroom and shower were the best I have seen in any hotel in Costa Rica and the product lineup and ample towels were a nice bonus. Definitely had a high end feel. The restaurant (Bitzu) and lounge (amBar cacao) were both terrific. We spent many hours in the lounge playing games as a family in the beautiful surroundings. While we didn’t get to enjoy them due to rain, there are also several fire-pits and outdoor seating areas. Shout out to Dennis, Samir, and Johan in the restaurant and lounge, to Daniel at the front desk, and to Jessica in reservations. You made our stay outstanding. If we are ever back in Santa Elena, we will 100% be back at Sibu.

I was there recently with my husband and two adult children. We had an amazing stay at this hotel. By far, the food was the best at the hotel. Everyone was so friendly and eager to please, especially Dennis and Elian- who also made great cocktails and looked after us. Would 100% recommend! The room was clean and the staff were lovely. Breakfast was also delicious and in addition to a breakfast bar, custom made breakfast dishes to you. It was wonderfully designed and beautiful inside- like you have stepped into your own paradise. We also made a friend with a cute little black cat who is very friendly.

I love this hotel, friendly and beautifully presented. A smaller hotel that maintains a friendly personal feel. Rooms are clean and comfortable and well equipped. Restaurant and bar areas are comfortable and tastefully decorated. Highly recommend if you need accommodation in the area.

We stayed here for two nights as part of an Exodus group. Gorgeous hotel, lovely location , wonderful staff & great breakfast. We also had lunch ( tapas style) & dinner one night. All really good quality. Spa treatments were given at a sister hotel.

Thanks to the staff at Sibu Lodge for making our trip so enjoy enjoyable. I wish we knew all your names! We enjoyed our room and the balcony we had where we could watch local kids playing football. It's a perfect location to explore Santa Elena and further afield - you can walk into town from here (up and down the hill!) and it's worth doing this. Sibu Lodge has been completely renovated - the bar and restaurant are contemporary and comfortable. The grounds are well maintained and great to chill out. Sibu Lodge is small, and almost perfectly formed. Our only thing - breakfast is included - and you get one choice from a fixed menu - with a hungry 19 year old, the portion were small, there was no extra’s - of cereal, toast or pastries, etc. The cooked food is great - there just wasn't enough of it. We would return to Sibu - thank you for looking after us so well. We loved our time with you. Great staff and service.

Everything was perfect but keep in mind there is no AC ! Room was way too hot . We’re ask for little fan just cooling room. Beds are very comfortable. Breakfast are great , Place is very well maintained and beautiful .

Wonderful place to stay. Staff was attentive and welcoming. The property is beautiful and the included breakfast menu was varied and delicious. It was a great retreat at the end of the day after experiencing the amazing cloudforest. Surpassed our expectations.

Beautiful relaxing hotel! It’s been recently renovated and modernised. Lovely rooms with very comfy beds and pillows. Air con was available but not really needed for us as it was cooler in Santa Elena/ Monteverde & the rainy season. Powerful hot shower with beautiful organic and lovely smelling toiletries supplied. The bar is great - comforting and large enough for you to have your own space. Food was excellent in the restaurant and very good in the bar. Included breakfast was one of the best we had in CR with tonnes of choice. No pool but that’s understandable given it’s cooler in the cloud forest so we didn’t miss not having it whereas elsewhere it felt more of a necessity. Hotel location is great too - only a 10 minute walk to the town (though be aware the walk back is up a very steep hill). Best hotel we stayed at in CR. Would come back in a heartbeat!

I stayed here for three nights as part of a G Adventures tour. The hotel has been nicely renovated with great landscaping throughout. The rooms are very comfortable and I especially loved all the shelving. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The only thing missing was a pool! I'd definitely stay here again.

I would highly recommend this hotel. The service was excellent and the staff was a 10 out of 10. We randomly chose his hotel and what a great find.Thank you American Express. Ethan and Eliam was the best. When visiting yeah, I'll Monteverde, please don't miss this Hotel.

Lovely stay Sibu Lodge. Has been renovated so lovely rooms and grounds. Room had very good AC shower bathroom and bedding. Not far from centre Monteverde and close enough for Selvatura Park and Ziplinig . Very clean and great team of maids. Room for improvement The bed in room 31 was very creaky and uncomfortable. The worst on our whole trip. The breakfast was a choice and it was ok but not many options and not advised if drinks included or not The restaurant staff not friendly and asked what we wanted and then never came back. I did not know if I would get a drink or not so eventually got orange juice but no hot drinks offered. They weee not busy so could have given better service. The transport had been arranged to next destination but not told it was only cash and we did not have enough as been using card. None of the bank cash points was working for cards but reception desk was not enthusiastic about helping us. We asked if we could pay in card and be given cash but they had no urgency and we nearly lost our transfer. Luckily we found out PayPal worked and managed to get on bus after one hour Otherwise Sibu lodge is lovely and not 2 star but breakfast and checkin via computer could be a nicer experience

Very nice place with sort of Bungalows which are newly renovated rooms. Room is quite big, nice bathroom close to resturants and small town. Parking in front. Good breakfast and a nice terasse. Happy hour is good with gin tonic for 5 USD. Friendly service.

Lovely room and bathroom (we had room 38). The air-conditioning unit was the quietest we have ever had. View from the window is a football pitch one way, restaurant terrace the other: not bad but not as good as the hotel description and other reviews suggest – there are a few trees at the top of the hotel plot but it’s not right next to the rainforest by any stretch, and being at high altitude it was very windy all the time we were there, so the upright chairs on the exposed roof terrace were not relaxing or even that warm. Everything about the hotel is very stylish. My husband was not impressed with the check-in procedure, which is done by scanning a QR code to go to a webpage where you type in all your details (again) yourself. He is very tech-savvy but it seemed unfriendly and remote, and a bit odd when there were staff there who could have just done it for us anyway. On the first evening we needed a snack before going out for a guided night-walk, so we went down to the hotel bar and ordered one portion of potato wedges and one plate of crostini. We had allowed forty minutes for choosing, ordering and eating, but the waiting and cooking service was so slow that when the food arrived we had less than five minutes to eat it and rush outside to find our transport. Breakfast the first morning was a complete fiasco. We arrived at the advertised start time and there were already at least twelve people in there, starting to eat. We were given a menu with just four choices on it, three of which were very similar and involved mainly eggs done in various ways. I chose the only option that mentioned fruit, which was pancakes with maple syrup. We had to wait fifteen minutes before a waiter took our order, because they were busy making sure everyone had coffee or tea before they could do anything else. We noticed the other people had a plate of fruit each but we were not told that everyone gets that. After our order was taken, we waited another ten minutes or so and then (at last) we were given a plate of fruit (one small slice of water melon, two or three very small pieces of pineapple and papaya, a two-inch chunk of banana, one segment of orange and a slice of star fruit). We watched as more guests arrived but very little food appeared for anyone. There were clearly some staffing problems as things improved slightly when a third person arrived to help the waiters, but by then the backlog was so big that there was no way they could catch up. No apology or explanation was offered at any time about the poor service. Two guests had to leave (to catch their tour transport) after they’d been there waiting for at least forty minutes – they were given something in a takeaway container, but don’t know whether that was just fruit). Eventually our cooked food arrived and we were so hungry by then (45 minutes after we had arrived) that it really seemed a very stingy amount.
