Best Hotels in Montignac

After 6 hours of driving, we were thrilled to see our beautiful hotel where we had booked the 'Chambre de Maitre', on the first floor. Huge windows, a lovely terrace on the river and one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in, plus a antique desk with hidden treasures and an immense armoire. The bathroom was enormous, filled with every amenity, and great views also from its windows. The charming public rooms on the ground floor offered an inviting fireplace, a grand piano and comfortable chairs and tables for an aperitif or game of cards. Because of Covid 19, the splendid dining room on the 1st floor was closed, but we enjoyed our copious breakfasts and one exceptional dinner in the cozier dining space on the ground floor. Staff was very welcoming, but every precaution was taken against spreading germs, and as we were almost alone (there was one other couple one night), there was little danger.

Small house rather than large hotel perfect room for 5 people it is quiet and clean nothing to re-repeat, well equipped bathroom with hair dryers, there is TV, air conditioning, all the lingerie and draps ... Nickel bed we have sleeped well

We were travelling from Australia in March 2020 & booked in to Hotel Villa des Consuls for 4 nights as part of a extensive road trip through France.. When we checked in the Corona Virus pandemic was intensifying causing a great deal of uncertainty. We must compliment the Hotel for the outstanding service we received from start to finish of our stay in a very abnormal period of time. The hotel position is brilliant and we were greeted by a friendly and professional staff member at reception. Our room was absolutely superb with lashings of ”WOW” factor. The room was spacious,well equipped,spotlessly clean with a balcony view overlooking the beautiful town of Salart. Our stay was 5 star in all aspects and the new owner who took over in January 2020 made our time at the hotel extremely memorable. We have traveled around the world for many years and this is one of the nicest stays we have ever had.The quality of the property really made the difference. This was our last stop in France due to the Pandemic lock down but we will be back We have no hesitation in highly recommending Hotel La Villa des Consuls to travelers who are looking for that special accommodation experience. Just stayed 3 nights at Bon Encontre - couldn’t be better. Lovely clean room with super en-suite shower room. Lovely pool area too. The breakfast is exceptional. Christine, the proprietor speaks good English and happily made an early breakfast (6.30am)for my husband and his friend who were going to an Archery competition on two of the mornings. There is a mini bar in the room and a lockable safe. We had appertains at the hotel before walking into Sarlat for dinner. The walk is downhill on the way out, but quite steep uphill to get back, although ok for us. Sarlat is definitely worth visiting. The Saturday am market is huge. The restaurants are very reasonable, and the food is mostly very good.
