This was my first stay at Zolotoe Kol'tso (October, 2021). I was very attached to another Moscow hotel, where I have stayed a number of times, but now it's going to be a very tough choice. As noted in the title of this review, I found this hotel very comfortable and convenient. The walk to the Metro is at most 10 minutes. There are all sorts of useful shops nearby -- food, *****tores, delis, a cell phone place (where I bought a new charger), even a place to get your PCR test for air travel. As others have noted, the breakfast is awesome, and I found the harp music incredibly calming and, often, really beautiful. The room had everything I need. I am not Leona Helmsley, so perhaps my needs are more modest than some. It was impressive to me that they offer you a choice of what softness of pillows you sleep on. The bed was flawless. The view was great. Everything was spotless. The wake up call is kind of weird: the TV turns on at the set time, instead of a phone call. Worked for me, though. Where this hotel really hit a home run was in service, however. It was almost unbelievably good. I am especially referring to the concierges. They both, Evgenii and Liudmila, went to great lengths to help me out, and I couldn't be more grateful. For just one example, when I was feeling unwell, Evgenii took a genuinely personal interest in my welfare, helped me find the best possible medical care, and followed up to make sure everything went well. When I expressed an interest in the world of arts and dance, Liudmila not only found me events going on during my stay, she even followed up after I had left Russia to provide me with valuable details for my next visit. It would take too long to go into everything. It would be callous of me, however, to not thank them, or to act as if their level of care and concern is something to be taken for granted. It isn't. Thank you!

Moscow (and Russia in general) is such an amazing place. I recommend everyone to visit. I've probably been around a dozen times now and each and every time I experience something different. My stay at The Golden Ring Hotel was comfortable but it could definitely do with a refurb. I've stayed at a number of 5* Hotels around Europe and would genuinely class this as a solid 4. The bed, views, and housekeeping are all 5* but everything else needs slight improvement. It was a nice surprise to receive a bottle of wine and a fruit bowl for my birthday. Overall my stay was comfortable, and this hotel will always have a special place in my heart and memory because of what kind of trip this was, but it was all let down a little, by the miserable receptionist who called my room demanding I leave or pay for an extra half-day. There was a slight mix-up on my booking as I thought I had booked this for an additional night, still I really didn't like the tone of voice of the receptionist. Everyone else at tghe hotel was really polite and friendly, but I observed how blunt and rude she was not just with me, but with some of the other guests as we vacated our room and waited in the reception. This put a damper on my stay and I'm not sure if I would stay here again because of this. I like to feel genuinely welcome by my hosts, and having also stayed at the Hotel National, and The Radisson Hotel in Moscow previously, I think I would pick either of those over this.

Hugely disappointing stay. I am astonished that this is a five star hotel. It is chronically dated. Yes there are great views but I'm more interested in the quality of the rooms and service, both sadly lacking. There are many lovely luxury hotels in Moscow. This is not one of them.

We chose this hotel more out of curiosity, since at the beginning of the year we were in the hotel opposite and wanted to compare. The price category is approximately the same. We booked through the hotel’s website; by the way, it’s a very nice website, intuitive, nothing superfluous, and the information is clear. For early booking there is a 15% discount. Be sure to check the Special Offers section before booking. We chose a Standard room with panoramic views of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the river. We arrived in the evening, around 9, since we had registered online in advance, upon check-in we only showed our passports for verification and immediately received a key card. The card is needed not only to access the room, but also in the elevator. The room was on the 16th floor. The first thing we checked about the room was the view and, of course, it was not what we expected when booking. Considering that we were tired and came for work, so we didn’t have much time to sit in the room, we decided not to go and change the room. If you book this hotel, choose a view of the city. We took a view of the city at the hotel opposite and chose the Golden Ring precisely with the expectation that it would have a better view towards the center, but we were mistaken. The room itself is spacious, the bed is large and comfortable, there is plenty of space to put things. The location of the mirror by the window is not entirely clear; it would be more logical to place it closer to the door. There is a coffee set and, of course, a tired kettle. The bathroom has a bathtub, a scale, a high chair and a non-slip mat, enough towels, and a set of everything you need. The cleaning is good, everything is as it should be, no questions asked here. Water, tea, coffee were replenished regularly. We didn't take breakfast, there are a lot of places around where you can go. But they noted that the prices for ordering food to your room are quite reasonable. There was no very polite treatment; when checking in, the girl at the reception didn’t even say that you need to use a card in the elevator. They always say hello at the entrance, which is nice. As a result, in general, the hotel is good, that’s exactly the impression it gives, it doesn’t seem to be completely bad, but it’s not beyond anything. After the trip they gave me a promotional code for the next one, maybe we’ll try the hotel again in the summer.

The kitchen is terrible, before moving in I asked to take into account the vegetarian menu, they couldn’t come up with anything other than boiled vegetables and buckwheat, they fed me like that for 3 days... once they completely forgot to bring lunch... The staff is clearly not up to 5 stars. The room itself is nice and clean.

I'm guessing based on your point of view, but I don't find the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be bad at all. From my panoramic room on the 8th floor, I can see a very beautiful scenery. The higher you go, the more beautiful the scenery is. The hotel was already luxurious, but very charming. The room was very comfortable and had great facilities. The only complaint is that the air conditioning was intermittent. The service and welcome was well done, the breakfast was the best, served in a gorgeous dining room with live harp performances. Didn't get a chance to try the spa facilities but everything else exceeded expectations and was great value for money. The airport transfer was excellent, better than a taxi - not too expensive about 30€ for 20 miles. highly recommended.
