The hotel is in a good location, close to the harbor and shopping center and a 6-minute drive to the beautiful "The Point." Our modern room is very large, 60 cm. on 2 floors, with a view of the harbor. The breakfast is excellent and is served in a beautiful restaurant with a sea view. The staff is always very friendly. Parking is free.

The location is very good
The waiters are very attentive
But maybe the room next to the old wing where I stayed was very noisy when taking a shower and the exhaust fan in the room was very loud. These improvements will be made in the future.

The service is average, the location is good, and the parking space is outside on the roadside. There were allegedly hotel security guards watching. There are still four-star standards.

The location of the hotel is very good, next to the sea, there is a beach
Free security at the entrance of the parking lot.
There are supermarkets around. Pay attention to the business hours. When we arrived, it was Sunday and most shops were closed.
The room is clean, but the washbasin is separated from the hot and cold water. I'm not used to it~ If you don't care about the money, it's better to book a balcony with a sea view
The breakfast selection is also very rich. We had curry chicken that day
Next to the hotel is a museum of the first Portuguese to land here
There's a lighthouse a few kilometers away

By far the best hotel in te area, great location with sea views and with a very good restaurant. Cafe Gannet offers a large choice of dishes with of course a variety of delicious seafood. The rooms are standard but good, with all what you need for a pleasant stay. The hotel embraces a beautiful and intimate garden with seats, a swimming pool, bar and again, sea views. The personnel was friendly. Even more friendly than all other friendly staff was Thembi, she made our stay unforgettable!

This is okay hotel for passing by and sleeping the night. A bit too overpriced also. Rooms were clean but bathroom could use a renovation. Breakfast ok, has plenty of choice and lady cooks fresh meals aswell. Hotel has no secure in the yard parking, hotel pool is tiny and yard has little to no good views to the sea.
Response from Property: Dear 498liisap Thank you for taking time to write us your feedback. With views over the north-facing bay and the Outeniqua mountain as a back-drop, I'm disappointed to learn that you did not get time to enjoy this. I apologize that we failed to advise but our hotel have secure parking as well as off-street parking available. Should your travels bring you back this way, I sincerely hope we will have the opportunity host you again. Regards,

Mossel Bay town is okay to stop off en route from Wine country to the garden route. It’s also 45 minutes from Oudtshoorn. This hotel is a gem, great staff and excellent rooms. We had 331 lovely outside chalet feel overlooking the bay. The Hotel is effectively a business style city centre place but it’s better than that. It actually houses its own gin distillery and offers tours. The restaurant offers good sushi, so we put the two together and had gin pairing with sushi !!! The staff in restaurants and bars are friendly and service is excellent. Dinner was good 4/5. This is an underrated hotel !
Response from Property: Dear philbK5597YF Thank you for taking time to write us your feedback regarding your stay with us. We're delighted that you have enjoyed your stay with with us as well as our gin distillery. The Cape Saint Blaize Artisanal Distillery is truly a gem with such a unique offering, glad you got to experience this as well is the lovely Cafe Gannet Restaurant. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Yours sincerely,

THe Hotel has an awesome location and wonderful views. We had a family suite which had an even better view. Very large room furnished tastefully. The Hotel has one restaurant Cafe Gannet. Breakfast was Average. Not much for Vegetarians. Staff is quite good. A very good place to stay on the Garden Route.
Response from Property: Thank you for reviewing us. We are delighted that you have enjoyed your stay with us, hope that we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back again. Regards,

This was a perfect stopover as we started driving the Garden Route . Choose a sea facing room for a beautiful ocean view and sunset . Room is comfortable ( bed and duvet very good) , but a few things need attention ( hairdryer old and sticky , bath plug not working , bright light on air con lighting up room ) . But all fairly minor . Breakfast was ok ( buffet style but a little tired ) . We were asked 4 times for room number ?! Reception staff were very helpful . We walked a few minutes to the wharf for a seafood dinner on the water - basic but fun and the sunset spectacular . Having driven around Mossel Bay , I think this is the best option if you’re looking for a great location , view and comfortable stay .
Response from Property: Dear FionaFen Thank you for taking time to write us your comments, we value your feedback. Glad you enjoyed our location being central and within walking distance of all major tourist attractions. I sincerely hope we will be able to welcome you back. Warm regards,

We had a great stay at this excellent hotel with very friendly staff. It is centrally positioned for Mossel Bay and hass plenty of parking out front. The pool and bar areas are great. Breakfast was lovely and so was the restaurant. I would definitely recommend staying here. The room were lovely and spacious. We had no interuptions due to Load Shedding.
Response from Property: Dear Richiewoodhouse On behalf of the entire hotel team, I want to thank you for sharing about your recent stay with us. It is always encouraging to hear positive feedback, particularly when it comes from those who matter the most – you! Your feedback has been shared with the team as a way of celebrating the great guest experiences we delivered. Being fully operational during Load shedding is our promise. great hotel in Mossel bay! We didn't realize Mossel Bay was a busy commercial port, but the hotel delivered: a nice room, comfortable bed, plenty of room and a nice sitting area complete with small kitchenette! We had a nice view of the harbor and were welcomed and shown to our room with kind hospitality. The property is nice and we ended up eating in the restaurant adjacent for dinner: Cafe Gannet. It was was packed, and we know why--terrific food and service! Although Mossel Bay itself was somewhat disappointing for us as part of the "Garden Route", the hotel was terrific.
Response from Property: Dear bluewar Thank you for posting your comments on TripAdvisor, we value your feedback. Glad you've enjoyed your stay with us. Not sure if you had time to experience Mossel Bay's zipline or the Shark diving or coffee at the Cape Saint Blaize Lighthouse but to name a few of the attractions and activities Mossel Bay has to offer. Look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Nice stay at the Protea Hotel mossel bay, location is nice, however the parking situation is not good at all, upon arrival we were very happy and checked into our room, we should mention that they did offer to keep all our bags of food and drinks in their fridge which was very helpful, there were a few little things that were very annoying but we did not mind. The next morning we checked out and we’re pleasantly surprised to see they cleaned our cars windshield for us! Overall a lovely stay!

A warm welcome, and good service in the bar and restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and quiet albeit a little tired. Dinner in the restaurant was pretty good, breakfast excellent. There was a bouncy castle set up for kids. We didn’t try the pool which is small but has a nice view of the sea

The hotel is well situated near the sea. Very clean and very caring people oriented staff who goes extra miles to ensure that people enjoy their stay. The rooms facing the sea side are very beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay can assure that we will definitely come back
