Munich Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt Hotels

The location and convenience of this hotel is second to none. The area looks a bit rough but I did not encounter any problem throughout my stay. Though I had a bit of a hassle locating it from the train station when I arrived in the evening. Hotel signboard is too tiny. There were constructions near it so you could easily missed it. The first room I was given had hygiene issues and they tried to remedy it and in the end I was given another room. The 2nd room is somehow has a better layout and cleaner and all toilet facilities works. I was cautioned by the staff that this room facing the streets so the noise level is higher. I was okay with that as I came from a big city with constant traffic noise. The reception staff are warm friendly and accommodating. I would give them 5* . The room has tea/coffee making plus 2 bottles of mineral water daily replenished. Overall I would say good value in terms of location and decent room and good staff.

So my review is a mixed one, partly positive but deeply dampened by two factors: Firstly, Wombat’s has come to be known as one of if not the party hostel in Munich. That being said - there was no party/pub crawl! (Barring the first night of my stay). This was disappointing, but this was mitigated by the absolutely amazing hosts and guests that I encountered during my stay. I’ll add here that my room was spacious, had a comfy bed and had a great safety system in place for valuables. Now for the second bad bit and this is something I didn’t bring up with them directly as I didn’t want to cause the person I would speak to any distress, but this hostel clearly caters to racists. Above my shower room door (Room 304), there were racial slurs for a number of races and I found it disgusting. How are Black people, white people and Asians supposed to feel comfortable when this what they see in the bathroom? This has to be addressed swiftly or Wombat’s will suffer in the long run.

First time to Germany and Octoberfest and can say this hotel is in a great location. A lot of great experiences including Octoberfest and restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk. Pros: Location Lobby/bar/restaurant (kind of all one thing but it works) Staff - most spoke English well enough to understand you. They were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast- My wife was not impressed but I thought it was better than typical ”continental” breakfast you get in a US hotel. Not obvious but they have a carafe of drip coffee near the expresso machine. Quiet - we had a courtyard room and it was very quiet. The bar/restaurant extends into the courtyard which I thought would be a problem but they have everyone come inside I think around 10 ish so we did not hear the bar noise. Cons: We had room 20 on the ground floor. Very small by U.S. standards but we expected that. The big issue was the bathroom/shower. The shower is ”enclosed” by shower curtains that have about a 3” gap at the bottom. No sill to catch water either. After showering most of the floor would be wet requiring us to utilize more towels to dry it. At first we thought maybe it was a handicap room but the second issue with bathroom negated that thought. The bathroom door is super heavy duty for some reason. I mean like probably fire proof rated. It was heavy to open and close due to the self closing mechanism. Maybe that is code in Germany but seems unnecessary to me. We had to use one of the room stools to prop it open to help air it out after showers. We stayed with several other couples and saw their rooms which had better bathroom set ups so maybe room 20 is just the one to avoid. Would stay here again just not that room.

We reserved a double room in the hotel, but the hotel room was too small for two people and the cleaning was not very good. The lighting in the room was also not good. Also, there was too much noise in the room, we could not stay comfortably. Some guests were very disturbing, they were talking and shouting too much. And they could even pass to the balconies of other rooms because the balconies of the rooms can easily be opened to the next room. This situation is extremely dangerous in terms of security. We were quite uneasy when we reported this to the reception, they were not very interested in us. The receptionists were very indifferent and disrespectful. On the first day, we wanted to park our car in the parking lot of the hotel, but there were many broken beer bottles. When we told this to reception, they said they knew, but they didn't do anything right away. We had to park our car elsewhere by paying money. The hotel breakfast is not good. Wifi access is almost impossible. As a result, we chose to stay in another hotel after one night's stay. *** Otelde iki kisilik oda rezerve ettik, ancak otel odasi iki kisi icin cok kücüktü ve temizlik cok iyi degildi. Ve hatta diger odalarin balkonlarina gecebiliyorlardi, cünkü odalarin balkonlari kolaylikla yan odaya acilabiliyor. Bu durum güvenlik acisindan son derece tehlikeli. Epey tedirgin olduk, bunu resepsiyona bildirdigimizde bizimle cok ilgilenmediler. Resepsiyon görevlileri oldukca ilgisiz ve saygisiz davrandilar. Ilk gün arabamizi otelin park yerine parketmek istedik, ancak pek cok kirilmis bira sisesi vardi yerlerde. Bunu resepsiyona söyledigimizde haberlerinin oldugunu söylediler, fakat hemen bir sey yapmadilar. Arabamizi para ödeyerek baska bir yere park etmek zorunda kaldik. Otelin kahvaltisi iyi degil. Wifi erisimi neredeyse imkansiz. Sonuç olarak, bir gece kaldıktan sonra başka bir otelde kalmayı seçtik.

This fairly small private hotel is a joy. The rooms are extremely well appointed and hold one great advantage over similar hotels in the vicinity of Munchen Hbf. ...... they feature kitchenette facilities (microwave, fridge and two electric rings). For supplies there is a Rewe supermarket a few minutes walk from the hotel. The staff are fabulous; from reception to room service. Although Schilerstrasse may not be to everyone's taste the hotel is virtually at the Hbf. end of the street so a visitor, if he/she so wishes, can avoid the 'Hostess' bars which are further down the street. Within a 10 minute walk you are right in the main shopping centre of the city. All the main brewery run restaurants are also within a 30 minute meander ...... Weisses Brauhaus, Andechser am Dom, zum Augustiner and zum Franziskaner.

Convenient to the central train station and the old city. We were grateful that the hotel was able to accommodate our early arrival after a transatlantic flight. . Our room was quite small but clean and otherwise comfortable. On our visit our room was quiet. A good base for local exploration. Our only complaint was the refrigerator which would barely cool two small bottles of water overnight. The train station was a great resource for nearby shopping, groceries and snacks along the lower level adjacent to the S-Bahn tracks.

The staff at the front desk are friendly, helpful and awesome! Special mention to Sara, Mirjana and the handyman who tried to fix my broken suitcase! They all had warm smiles on their faces and made you feel so welcome! We were a group of 14 Canadians. Rooms were clean and a great buffet breakfast. Location is also excellent as its across from the train station. They also had a common room upstairs where you could get takeout and eat as a group which was great! Would highly recommend! Thank you for a great visit to Munich- we were there for 3 nights and four people were there for 5 nights.

The location is very close to the subway station. The room is generally ok, the area is relatively large, with a balcony, a small garden in the atrium. You need to bring your own toiletries. Roll paper and shower gel, hand sanitizer is there... This price is 80 points. Slippers need to bring their own.

We stayed here 2 nights, from June 12 to 14 .This hotel is perfectly located just steps from Munich Central Station, with an overall modern look and concept. All 4 of us(two adults, two teenagers) checked in after 11pm; the front desk looked tired, but so were we. There are two elevators leading to the rooms and both are fit enough for more than 4 people. We had two rooms right next to each other: Room 445(two twin beds), and Room 447(one double bed). Both rooms were spacious and clean, and beds were comfortable. WI-FI connection was great. Bathroom was huge given European standards, water temperature was perfect for both hot and cold fans. AC temperature was perfect. We had a peaceful sleep and the morning after we went downstairs for a magnificent breakfast: water, coffee, tea, juices, hot chocolate, pancakes, scrambled eggs, croissants, assorted cheese, assorted bread, fruits, are only about a third part of the breakfast items. Pretty close to dining places(walking distance) but somewhat far from historical places, check-out was a breeze, would stay here again

We had to find a hotel in Munich for 2 nights during Oktoberfest, which we did not plan to attend. Most hotels were booked even at 4 months before, and Hotel Buddy was the only one we found convenient for transport. The hotel was modern in bright yellow. The strongest strength is the location which is very conveniently in Karlsplatz with many transportation options and near to the sights. The U-bahn stop is right infront of the hotel, and also the S-bahn stop which is very convenient to go directly to the airport. However, although the hotel charged around 300 euros/night, which is understandable as all other hotels also raised their price due to the high demand, the hotel should do something that made it at least worth the price tag. Our floor was undergoing refurbishment, so we have to walk past many open rooms with construction and unclean wet floor cover. Further on, guests in opposite rooms opened their doors and were partying together. Our room was at the end and some drunken(?) guests had tried our door, mistaking it for the common bathroom. The foldable table was unable to be folded and keep on dropping down and once hurt my back. Worst of all, we just realized that the policy of the hotel is “NO HOUSEKEEPING” on the second day, luckily, we could go down to the lobby to get more clean towels as the old ones had already gone down to the floor. All of these would be acceptable should the room rate cost less than a hundred euros. Our comfort double room was a bit larger than other small room, but still very small. Long narrow sofa by the windows provided spaces to sit. The blinds had to be close as the opposite building was very close. Nespresso machine with 2 coffee and tea capsules with bland taste. Bathroom was small with few amenities, the hand soap dispenser was difficult to squeeze. A tablet in the room was for information of the hotel and sights, but was rather slow. No breakfast available on-site. But some complimentary snacks (apples, pretzels) could be grabbed from the lobby. A vending machine was also available. Staff at the lobby were quite friendly and helpful.
