I’ve read many bad reviews on internet that I was about to cancel my reservation. But in the end, our stay was more than amazing. The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was to die for and my favorite thing was the pool and the sunset. We even got a free upgrade to spend one night at the diamond villa which costs 10k/night. Truly an unforgettable experience. Worth every penny and will definitely come back with my family.

We recently stayed at Myconian Avaton and booked 6 room for 12 people. We did not get the rooms booked. They gave adult rooms to kids which we did not find out until the next day. Our travel agent called the manager Mario and told me he will be switching our rooms so please go see him. I called the front desk before I packed my luggage the next morning, they said to come to reception area by 11 AM and they will switch our rooms. We came down with all our luggage and they said to wait till the rooms were cleaned, we waited for an hour. After waiting for an hour, Mario refused to switch our rooms and said you should be happy your kids got the good rooms. I told him we were there to celebrate our anniversary and booked specific rooms. He argued with us in front of other guest which was so embarrassing. We did not want to waste anymore time (we spent all morning packing and coming down, waiting for an hour for him to give us the new rooms), so we decided to just stay in the same room. Next day, our ferry to Paros got cancelled and needed to either stay an extra night or look for air transfer. Front desk (Mario's wife) gave us a price of $2300 per helicopter with 6 passengers, and told us we will need to book two helicopters. It took us about half an hour to decide if we should stay or take the helicopter. Once we decided to take the helicopter, we went and asked Mario's wife to please go ahead and book it. She said let me check if it is still available. She got back to us after 15 minutes and said the helicopter she quoted us on is no longer available and the new cost will be $5600. At this point we were all tired and were desperate to get out so we said to go ahead and book it. She came back to us 15 minutes later and said our luggage will not fit in these two flights and we will have to hire a 3rd flight to transfer our luggage. We paid over $13,000 for 12 people to fly out during this emergency situation. We asked Mario to please at least provide complimentary meal since we all had missed our breakfast, he rudely said restaurant is open for lunch and we can pay and eat our meals there. We feel the entire experience could have been better even during the disaster if the staff was friendly. Mario and his wife hovered over their staff the entire time we were there and no one was able to provide any good customer service on their own without speaking to Mario and his wife. We also feel we were scammed for the helicopter transfer and they price gouged us. We all will be posting the reviews and our horrible experience and will be filling claims with local authorities for price gouging against Myconian Avaton and Superior Air.

Went in mid-November. It's almost winter. The weather is not very good either. The hotel and surroundings are quite deserted. Booked a hotel shuttle for 20 people for 4 persons per car. Room facilities were ok. Not too delicate. Just make it up. Looks clean. Not many breakfast options. But can eat enough. Walk to town and windmill for about 15 minutes. But really. M. Island is not much fun. Although very close to the bus station. But just 2 buses to Paradise Beach. But we did not wait 10 minutes in advance. Locals say it may not have started. So the price is 15 Euro. No one on the beach was seawater. Is not fun.

My family and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. We really enjoyed our stay and felt it was good value for money. Definitely recommend. The hotel has a lovely setting in the Calo Livadi bay in the more sheltered south of Mykonos island. The lovely sandy beach, with a selection of beach clubs, is only a short 5min walk away from the hotel. The hotel has beautiful views of the bay and of Naxos island in the distance. The hotel is 25min from Mykonos town and the airport and they offer transfers to both if pre-booked. The hotel is in walking distance to a couple of restaurants although there are very limited options in this area and guests would need a car or taxi to travel further afield for more choice. The hotel has a boutique and intimate feel and has a lovely pool with day beds and sun beds and a bar area serving drinks and snacks. The setting is a perfect place to chill and relax while listening to soft music in the background. The hotel provides towels for the pool and beach. The hotel also has a small SPA which we didn’t use so cannot comment on it and provides a small playground for young kids (no kids club). The service we received was attentive and polite from the staff working at reception to the staff working in the restaurant and pool bar. The dining space for breakfast, lunch and dinner is a nice open space overlooking the pool area and bay further beyond. Breakfast is a buffet style and offers guests a good choice of cooked and continental style breakfasts. Lunch can also be served by the pool. The lunch and dinner menus for me were quite limited and a little pricey for the type of dishes on offer. I would recommend expanding or diversifying the lunch and dinner menus to provide more variety. However, the food that was offered on the menu was of good quality. Wine selection was good and promoted Greek local wines as well. The rooms were lovely, spacious and bright. The bathroom had an amazing rain shower and fluffy towels and robes. The room we booked (sea view) had unbelievable views of the bay from a spacious terrace area with an outdoor sofa, table and chairs. The beds were comfy and pillows soft. The room came with two TVs for the lounge and bedroom areas and had international channels. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting this part of Mykonos island.

This hotel is the real DEAL! I’ve stayed in countless hotels before and this hotel beats them all in every way possible. From the moment you step into the hotel till the moment you checkout you are always treated with kindness and professionalism. Concierge services, food, location, rooms and everything in this hotel is literally above and beyond great. Definitely recommend this hotel and it wouldn’t be my last time there.

A smart and somewhat stylish hotel with some very positive features – but with some less so, also. Let's start with the positives: Pool area – quite lovely. A reasonable sized pool, surrounded by loungers, couches, sun beds and chairs of various varieties. It has a pool bar and a towel service, and most rooms look out on the pool area. Very pleasant. Room quality – there are different buildings in the complex all with a stylish rustic design, and each room comes with a verandah, balcony or sun lounge. Also has a fridge and TV and a same day laundry service. Our room was smallish, and the industrial sized bath probably takes up too much room (you can't get out on one side of a double bed). It had an open plan see through shower, which was kind of cute though some people might find it a bit strange. Also, the security safe seemed to need a key which wasn't there. Possibly available from reception, but what's wrong with a standard digital safe? Overall quality – quite good. Wifi – good quality. They also provide a smartphone, which looked very cool – but turned out it wasn't working. Staff – very friendly and helpful, particularly at reception. Location - a reasonable walk (downhill) to the town area and there is also a bus stop outside. Coming back at night is a different proposition, however, as the downhill stroll reverts into a steep upward climb on a very dark and narrow road. And then there is the sheer rapacity of Mykonos taxi drivers (a separate story). Now on to the less positive: Breakfast – very disappointing. Words like dull, uninteresting and boring come to mind – but let's say Basic with a capital B. Cold plates had little variety and the ‘hot’ dishes were lukewarm and stodgy – and not to mention having to drink fruit juice from a warm cup because there were no glasses available. You even had to pay extra for decent coffee. It was budget hotel fare at best. Curiously, I was surprised to see a comment from the management on this forum that they seemed actually proud of their breakfast offering!! All I would say to that is that they need to get out more. Bar prices - it's been a few years since I was in Mykonos, and I was astonished at how expensive everything has become – including bar prices. Still, the prices for drinks at the pool bar were very much on the high side, and would not encourage you to spend much time there. Apart from the latter two gripes, we enjoyed our stay at the Three Shades. Overall star ratings? About 3.5 – but certainly not 4. Value for money? Given that Mykonos prices are hitting stratospheric levels, probably not bad.
