The lady at the counter was so accommodating. Provided everything we needed and was happy to help in any other way. Spoke a little English but used google translate to help. We couldn't use the dining room for dinner, I think that had to be booked in advance. There was only one or two other places open in town at 7.30pm for dinner. So wasn't many options. The room had stains all over the floor, but otherwise the beds were clean, and comfortable being on the harder springy side, and the bathroom was very clean. The onsen was amazing. The room was a good size, and had extra toilets down the hall if we needed them. The Japanese breakfast that was provided was fantastic. We only stayed one night because we were walking the next day just near there otherwise would have stayed in a bigger town, because of the limited outside facilities. But for the price and it was convenient it was good. Would stay again if I had to, but otherwise would go for a bit nicer place.

Akakura Onsen is a great little Japanese town in the snow. Akakura Park Hotel provided a large twin room, with AC and a small fridge, small lounge and lots of space (unusual for Japan). Breakfast was a western buffet with japanese options also. Drying room and a nice hot en also. Only issue is that the ski lift is a 400m walk up a slope and then back again at the end of the day. Lots of small japanese restaurants available in the main street but you have to book the day before for some. Lots of snow and one blue sky day for our week of skiing.

Nice view, basic traditional Japanese room. No kettle and fridge didn’t work. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast basic but good.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and loved every day. Amazing views from our room, incredibly clean, and super fresh and delicious breakfast. It’s has a little Onsen that it’s great for after a very hard day snowboarding. The hosts are the stars of the place, they will help you with whatever you need and they are so super polity and friendly. We felt we had a home away from home at this place :)

Hotel is quite old but clean. Staff were incredibly helpful and nice. Breakfast was very good and a good start to the day. Only letdown was two large groups of snowboarders who would scream and yell when coming back from the bars into the hotel after their night out. This went on for eight nights which became very tiresome. Their behaviour in the hotel was not respectful to the staff and other guests. If you were considering a stay at this place I would suggest requesting a room at the back of the hotel where it is less likely to be impacted by noisy guests.

Staff were great and the location was nice. I was unfortunately in the older wing of the hotel and it was not worth what I paid or the rating it has on trip.com. It seemed like a backpacker hostel and I would say very second rate. Older rooms also aren’t afforded the same amenities as refurbished rooms. I was given a bar of soap and that was it. My friends in the refurbished rooms had whole amenity sets. When I asked the front desk if I could get shampoo someone told me I was only entitled to the bar of soap. I had to ask my friend to request for the shampoo for me. The difference between the rooms were night and day. Refurbished rooms had Smart TVs and my TV looked like it was from the 90s. I never saw photos of my bathroom on trip so I’m sharing them here because it’s so different from the pictures they had the shower and sink shared the same water source. The staff were great but it didn’t make up for the room I had. I tried to ask to pay more for a refurbished room but sadly they had none available. Sad to say that this was my worst trip.com experience.
