Grand Cozy Hotel (Nanjing Xinjiekou)

The hotel offers great value for money overall, perfect for both business trips and leisure travel. The most pleasant surprise was that the front desk even gave me a free room upgrade. The environment was quiet, and I had a very restful stay.

Coming to Nanjing, I looked around and still chose this hotel. Although the entrance looks unassuming, the location is absolutely fantastic. There are many restaurants and local eateries nearby, and Kexiang Street is just around the corner. Daxiangong Metro Station is only a few hundred meters away, making it super convenient to get to all the attractions. The staff are also incredibly warm and welcoming; they proactively ask about our needs and how our stay is going. On rainy days, they even offer us umbrellas. The room is very comfortable and clean. If you love a high bed and soft pillows, just go for it!

The room amenities were truly a pleasant surprise! The bed had the thick mattress I love, a five-star experience. The front desk staff, Xiao Zhou, thoughtfully upgraded my room, which I really appreciate. My friends and I had a very comfortable stay during our trip, and the complimentary ID card holder is absolutely adorable!

The good thing is the location – it's really convenient for getting to any attractions, and there are plenty of restaurants downstairs, including a famous Sichuan restaurant, which is great for tourists. Now for the downsides. First, the bathroom plumbing wasn't done well, making the entire bathroom smell awful. I found this unacceptable; it's one of the worst mistakes a renovation can have. Every time I opened the bathroom door, a foul smell hit me. Second, also about the bathroom, there were only two curtains instead of a door for the shower and toilet, which is very inconvenient for families. Plus, directly opposite the bathroom entrance is a full-length mirror, so anyone on the bed can see right into the bathroom. Third, the housekeeping was subpar; they only emptied the trash and changed the towels. Nothing else was replaced – the bed wasn't made, and no water or disposable amenities were refilled. Fourth, and most unacceptable, were the hotel toothbrushes. After opening them, they had clear creases and felt uneven, and they even smelled like toothpaste. I strongly suspect they were reused.

1. The hotel's location is excellent, right near Fuzi Temple, with a snack street nearby offering tons of delicious food. 2. The service was great; they even gave us the 'Eight Delights of Qinhuai' snacks, tea, and warm mineral water, which was a very thoughtful touch. 3. The room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped.
