Napoli Svelata

I traveled to the Amalfi Coast for my 50th birthday and chose Napoli Svelata as my hotel in Naples. Francesca contacted me prior to my trip to get arrival details. I ran into a snag in London when British Airways canceled my flight to Napoli and I immediately reached out to Francesca to let her know I would not be arriving on the day I had planned. She was very understanding and stayed in contact with me to get new arrival information. I ended up arriving the next day and she contacted me to find out if I had arrived ok and to ask when I would be at the property. She was standing out front when I arrived and she was very nice and showed me how to enter the building, which keys went with which doors, how to use the antique lift, showed me my room, the eating area, offered me refreshing juice and even had pastries for me. The room was very nice, it's Juliette balcony overlooked the main road and had a great view. Everything was very clean and the room was the perfect size for me. It is in a great location just a few blocks from the historic city center and Duomo. The metro is a block away. Francesca even gave me a map with certain things marked and she asked what my next stop was; since I was leaving by ferry, she marked the terminal that I would need to go to and which ferry lines take to Sorrento. She even offered for me stay an extra night at no charge only because I had missed my first night due to the airline cancellation, but I had already paid for the two nights I was staying. Sadly I had to move on to my next destination. Napoli Svelata is a great place to stay and the hospitality is wonderful.

Very close to the subway, train station, bus, central boulevard, a good location for couple of days, large spacious room, friendly staff,good coffee, was a pleasant stay................................

A really nice little B+B in a superb location (halfway between the main transport hubs and the city centre). Our room was very clean, had a spacious bathroom and looked to have been recently renovated. Some interesting architectural features referencing what the buiding must have looked like pre-renovation, I especially liked the tables in the breakfast room combining welded metal and glass with some original shutters from the windows. A few downsides: Timekeeping was poor (Italians might say 'relaxed'), so we had to wait 20 minutes at check-in and breakfast was usually late (might seem trivial but not to people with planes to catch). Room consumables were poorly replenished (teabags, sugar, toilet roll). Our room had a serious mosquito issue, I have over 30 bites and my partner has about 20. We squished 5 or 6 mossies in the room and all of them were full of blood. You can see bloodstains if you look around the walls. Bring something with diethyl toluamide in! Jungle formula or similar would be fine. Other plus-points were a fridge in the room and a safe.

This place has excellent potential but in my view needs a few things improved. It is a B&B so very few services. The rooms are very comfortable and better in many respects from much costlier places. There are 6 rooms. Four face a large potentially noisy street. One had a side view with balcony. I had the sixth room which had no balcony nor view but was quiet so I was grateful for the room I got. There were 2 women who came to clean and serve breakfast who spoke no English but were kind and helpful. The young woman who checked me in was scarce but you will have her number if needed. What others said about the keys and hot water were true for me too. If they would write out clear instructions as they are never around it would be so helpful. Write in Italian and Google Translate into English and other languages. So simple. And to have maps of the city. And instructions of getting to major sites. Right now it is a do-it-yourself place. I would definitely stay here again but they could definitely up their game.
