This is my wife and my first visit to Nevis, and we wanted to be sure we started off on a high note. So we booked three nights at Golden Rock. We’re so glad we did! Everything about the experience has been fabulous. Sarah-Ann arranged the details of our transfer from the airport on St. Kitts; our travel plans kept shifting because of various weather-related flight disruptions, but she managed it all with consummate professionalism. The facilities and grounds are exquisitely beautiful. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the food and the drinks program are top notch. The pool is delightful. Plus, there are monkeys! All in all, this is one of the most memorable places we have ever stayed. 10 out of 10!

Oh my goodness, this place is amazing. It is a highly curated piece of rainforest/ tropical garden set under Nevis Peak. Full of the most beautiful trees and plants which attract all manner of wildlife from hummingbirds, dragonflies and vervet monkeys. If you like nature, gardens etc this is the place for you. At night there is a cacophony of tree frogs to fall asleep to. Very few bugs at this time of year. No need for air in as you are high up with lively breeze. In addition to the nature this place has been designed with an artist’s eye, All the furniture has been carefully selected and there’s an upmarket boho feel. Not your traditional Caribbean look but it blends perfectly with the natural setting and creates interest all of its own. Hotel was only partially occupied so we had the pool to ourselves most days. Pool is private for guests and tucked away at the top of the garden and a very good size. Only criticism was no adjacent loo/changing room but there is a loo at the restaurant so not a big problem. We stayed 6 nights and had the fabulous Paradise Cottage which has a terrace which looks out over its own private piece of rainforest. It’s def worth the upgrade. Though be aware it is located at the entrance to the property so you will hear the odd car coming and going. We are very noise sensitive and we weren’t bothered by it. Generally very peaceful. The staff were fabulous. Big call out to Janet who looked after us at dinner really well. The restaurant in the evening was packed with people coming for special celebratory meals. They coped admirably. We never felt we had to wait too long. Food delicious. Only criticism was that menu didn’t change in time we were there (inc catch of the day!) so we ate our way through the menu. One last suggestion - because bar is inside there’s not real bar area outside to have a drink before dinner. We missed that atmosphere. Everyone ushered to their tables. There are some tables and chairs outside the bar but they are as you enter the hotel so no one really sits there. I would suggest moving them to the pond side adjacent to the dining terrace. Overall one of the very best hotels we have stayed in (and we have stayed in some good ones all round the world). We would def come back.

We visited the Golden Rock Inn as a three generation group and enjoyed every minute! The staff were amazing and detail-oriented, from seamlessly arranging our transportation from St Kitts airport to the resort, to arranging a day trip to Charlestown, the artisan village and a Caribbean-side beach. We stayed in the Sugar Mill, which was perfectly located within an easy walk of both the pool and dining area and had good access to the many walking trails throughout the beautiful grounds. The mill was comfortable and tastefully decorated, with views of Mount Nevis and the Atlantic Ocean, along with a private patio surrounded by lush foliage from which we saw so many birds and lizards, but sadly no monkeys (we did see two at the end of the driveway one day). Grounds: we were fortunate enough to go on a garden tour with Alvin, a knowledgeable staff member who shared a detailed history of the property and identified numerous plants, including lemongrass, a cinnamon tree, the calabash, cotton trees, agave, a cocoa tree, many different palms and a mango tree. The pool was clean and refreshing, surrounded by a stone patio as well as a covered area for relaxing on the lounge chairs. The views from here were incredible, with the Atlantic Ocean visible through the trees. One note if visiting with older guests is that some of the stone paths were quite dark at night so we needed to use our phones for extra visibility. Food and drink: All meals were excellent but if you are a vegetarian who stays for more than a few days, dinner options will become limited. Drinks were terrific, including complimentary rum punches on arrival. Staff were friendly and attentive and all meals were served promptly. We even got to eat lunch under the dome the day we arrived, which was fantastic. When our trip ended we were sorry to leave and hope to visit again!

We sat under the tree for lunch. What a peaceful setting! Lobster sandwich wasn’t as good as years past (too much thick bread) but it wouldn’t keep me from coming back. Mom’s Pina Colada with toasted coconut was a hit. This place is magical and a must stop while in Nevis.

You will probably need a driver to get you what was a former sugar plantation. Golden Rock is an inn and restaurant. You must have the mango smoothie. It is made extremely well. Every dish from BBQ Pork ribs; snapper; rum punch was outstanding!

The grounds and the amenities at this gorgeous inn (an old sugar plantation), on the side of Nevis Peak, are spectacular. The rooms are large and well supplied, though there is no air conditioning. But the sounds of the jungle and fans made for a very restful sleep. Serenaded by wild donkeys, feeding birds from our porch, and entertained by monkeys made for a wonderful visit. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. One thing we really liked- and haven't seen at other places- is free laundry service! We just left our clothes in the hamper and the next day, we got them back, clean & folded. We took a walking tour of the incredible botanical garden with the head gardener and it was beautiful. We had 3 dinners here, 2 lunches, 7 breakfasts. The dining area was beautiful. Staff are lovely. The dinners were mixed; we had some things we liked and some we didn't. Breakfasts were the best and included with the room. The inn arranged for all our transfers- from St Kitts airport to water taxis, and when we rented a car, they delivered it to the inn. The only negative issue we had was in checking out. I had booked a special package for my husband & I and the other couple we traveled with, directly on the website. When we went to settle up, the other couple didn't get the special package that was confirmed by the hotel. Their room rate was much higher, despite the confirmation that I presented to them. I was told that they couldn't edit the room rate (because it came from the "states") so we proceeded to spend more than an hour with a calculator (!) and multiple edits, to adjust our companions' bill. I was told next time to book direct. If booking on the website is not direct, I don't know what is. I highly doubt I would have received the special package had I called the hotel directly (something I rarely do). It just left a sour taste on departure for something that was confirmed in writing.

The place is nice, but the service was horrible! It would be nice if the waitress could check on the table once in a while! I won’t be back! It took way too long to get our food! These people act like they are doing you a service to serve you! The view is nice and surrounding somewhat nice as well.

My daughter has already given glowing reviews. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The garden pool was secluded, nestled in the jungle but with a clearing that looked off to the sea. I am a gardener and loved the myriad of trees, vines, plantings, etc. The food was delicious, but too much for us. We quickly learned to order less. Our only disappointment was not seeing the Green Vervet monkeys. We were able to see a glimpse of two one day as we were leaving in a taxi. The staff had set up our land/water taxi arrangements from St. Kitts airport to the Golden Rock Inn making it all so easy. A vacation we recommendto all.
