I am contacting you regarding my recent stay at Virgin Hotels New Orleans in room 1401, Richard’s Flat, on March 31-April 3. While we like the hotel overall and would consider staying again, the condition of this room and the handling of the issues during our stay were unacceptable.
The problems included the ice maker door falling completely off and the refrigerator that should have been for our personal use did not work. Our AC unit was not cooling properly, we had a nonworking room phone, a bathroom closet door that was completely broken off, a major cut in the bathroom ottoman that we did not cause, lights going out at the wrong times including while we were in the shower, and a wall iPad that was not operative even though it remained on. These were not minor inconveniences. Taken together, they made the room feel unprepared, poorly maintained, and well below the standard we expected.
The broken phone made the situation worse because it prevented us from easily reporting the problems and forced us to go to the front desk for assistance. With the refrigerator out and the AC not functioning properly, our comfort was directly affected. Quite frankly, this room should not have been placed into service for guests in that condition.
We are asking management to make this right with an appropriate refund, future stay credit, or complimentary stay. We are not making this request lightly. We simply believe that some meaningful compensation is reasonable given th
