Location is the only saving grace — everything else is a disaster
Let me start with the positives: the location is genuinely excellent. Steps from Central Park and a major metro station, getting downtown is quick and easy. That's where my praise ends.
Cleanliness is the worst I have ever encountered. Dead insects in the corners of the room, hair in the shower, and — most disturbingly — dead bugs under the mattress. The corridors appear to never be cleaned. I have stayed in budget hostels that maintained better standards than this.
Breakfast is inedible. What's on offer is a collection of cheap junk food. Skip it entirely and walk somewhere else.
Noise is a serious problem. Every floor has a courtesy phone that guests use freely — and loudly — to call family and friends in the middle of the night. Staff did nothing to address it. I lost two full nights of sleep over the course of my stay.
The billing situation is unacceptable. Upon arrival, the hotel charged an additional $304 to my card with no explanation and no receipt. I am still trying to obtain documentation of this charge — a significant problem for anyone traveling on business, as it makes expense reporting impossible.
I would not return under any circumstances, and I would strongly advise business travelers in particular to stay elsewhere.
