Booked the hotel (for 60 people) in December as we were going to stay there for a week in February, paid our deposit, but then we got a message in January that the hotel closed down, so we had to find another hotel to stay at. We found another hotel, but now we are struggling to get our money back from this hotel. They won't repay our deposit money and it is quite a lot of money as we booked for 60 people! The only way possible for them to pay back is by check, but we cannot receive checks in our home country (Norway). I have tried asking several times if they can repay our money in other ways than a check, but they are little of help.... Don't stay at this hotel; they are not customer service friendly!

Great location! Restaurants and cafes were within walking distance. Subway was just 3 blocks from here. easy transfers to LGA. This was a no-frills hotel, but the employees were very friendly and helpful. Four of us shared a room with private bath. I'd stay here again!

Bella was great!!! She great us and explained everything and let us do are checking early. It was a excelente experience. The place is fun and colorful, in the outside and inside. I will recommend to people.

This place is awesome I was worry about some of the reviews on here but my experience was pretty good Bella is very nice and great personality she always smiling and interacting you feel welcome and love by all the staff. I love how they have answers for every question. My next trip I will most certainly stay here again thank you Artel

The front office supervisor Bella is one of a kind I will definitely come back and refer my friends and family I love it here I love the people and everything the art the environment the clean room clean towels clean bathroom and great customer service

I must say when we first arrived the strange people outside were a bit concerning but upon meeting the front desk team, it was worth it. We came to celebrate my besties birthday and enjoyed our stay so much. We’re not from New York so we felt a little lost. Thank you to KeKe and Trudy who helped us out!!! They were so sweet and gave us some good advice. Thank you Artel! We’ll be back!

I checked into this hotel for 1 night from November 26 to November 27. I booked it through Priceline and when I got there I was told I had to put down a deposit. Days passed by and my deposit was not returned. I called this business to ask about my refund but was told to wait 7 to 14 days. I called back again after 14 business days and I was told that my refund was processed the day I checked out. I still haven't gotten my deposit money back and every time I ask for a written email saying that they processed my refund, I am told that they can't do that and that they can only send me the receipt. The staff is very unprofessional on the phone and at the facility. I would not recommend this place at all. Not worth it. You're better off staying at a better,cleaner hotel where you'll be able to get back your deposit.

Unfortunately the artel hotel closed during our NYC stay leaving us with no accommodation for our dream girls trip to New York in December 2022. What was becoming an extremely worrying time for our group was quickly and efficiently remedied by Tom Carpenter, the general manager of the artel hotel. Tom went above and beyond to find us suitable alternative accommodation, with short notice at such a busy time. Our holiday disaster was avoided with thanks to Tom. We wish you all the best for your journey after the Artel hotel.

Traveling all tye way from South Africa. Flying on 17th Dec but booked at Artel from 22nd. I saw a post om Facebook where someone said their booking was cancelled as Artel is being used as a homeless shelter now. We then emailed the hotel on 15th December to enquire. We were then told yes they closing on 16th and we must make alternate arrangements! If we didn't ask we would have not known. Our budget and trip was planned around the cost of Artel which was booked months ago. They were rude on their response to booking com. Saying they will not assist with reaccomodating us. Booking. Com also failed to find us similar accommodation at this late stage especially where prices have sky rocketed. We were forced to book something more expensive now which we could not afford to and this has totally ruined the excitement of our trip. Shocking and appealing s3rvice from an internetational hotel in New York. Cannot believe they take your bookings but no decency to advise you in advance that they are closing or assist I. Reaccomodating.

We got an email today saying they cancelled our hotel bc the WHOLE HOTEL IS CLOSING TOMORROW. They didn’t sound sorry at all. It’s NYC before Christmas WHERE ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GO. HORRIBLE SERVICE. We got a sorry can’t help you??? *** is that??? HOW ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THAT? IS THAT EVEN LEGAL??? DO NOT BOOK HERE EVER. Because all they could do was send a cancellation email? And WE had to call to be like we didn’t cancel and they were like yeah lol the hotel is closing our bad. They have not given us an alternative room somehwhere else. We are from out of state. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I literally cannot believe this. I AM APPALLED AT THIS SERVICE

We were on 20th floor fantastic view great location , comy beds, great air conditioning , good shower fast elevator , don't let the concrete floors put you off they were clean and Jeffery was lovely very helpful . Basic but great for the price

Artel is the best value in the area - good/clean accommodation, central location, and nice touches like fresh coffee and hot water in the lobby. The best part was the service. I left a tablet in the room and Marcus from the front desk shipped it back to me promptly without a surcharge/handling fee. Really appreciate the staff going the extra mile - would stay there again!

Family of four stayed for five nights. Two rooms. Very clean, plenty of towels,microwave and fridge in room. Tea/Coffee 24/7 in reception area. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Great location only a few minutes walk to Times Square and Grand Central.

WORST HOTEL I have ever experienced. The room was small. Only one of the four beds had a duvet. There was no carpet in the room, just a dirty concrete floor. I suspect the carpet had been removed because of damp. VERY noisy. Me and my three children barely slept. The AC/heater was so loud and the control panel did not work so we had to unplug it and open the window. The plumbing was also very noisy, with pipes clanking and hissing all night. Our door opened straight on to the lift lobby/reception area so was very noisy all night with guests coming and going. We could hear every word of people's conversations and the lift is old and noisy. The reception staff were chatting loudly all night and had the tv on. At 11.30pm a member of staff started vacuuming the lift lobby and reception. I got dressed and went out to ask him to stop. He completely ignored me. The girl on reception asked what the problem was. I explained the issues with noise etc and that the room was not fit for purpose. I asked for a refund and that I would go and find alternative accommodation. She could not refund because we had 'used the beds'. Rude and unhelpful. Ruined our two days in New York. I will not be using *********** again as they were offered no help or compensation.
