La Quinta Inn and Suites by Wyndham Long Island City

Good location, 10min walk to subway. 2 stops from Manhattan. Good price - quality. Quiet neighbourhood even with the gas energy station nearby. Friendly staff. Only negative point is the small breakfast area.

Manhattan hotels being way overpriced at the time, I decided to give that hotel a chance. Let me tell you, this LaQuinta is not like the others I had been and that were terrible. That location should easily be upgraded to 3 stars. I stayed 25 days there so I think I can judge that hotel appropriately. Pros: - Excellent staff: very polite, helpful, very kind, quickly responsive, A+++. From the front desk to the cleaning staff and the manager: they go above and beyond to make you comfortable. Like 5 star hotel treatment. Special mention to Brian at the front desk: that young man is the best. Very smart, super friendly and accommodating. A great asset for that location. The manager was also so down to earth, attentive, nice and accessible. This is how you do customer service. Thanks for everything guys. - Rooms: super clean, nice size, warm decor, big and very clean bathrooms and towels, microwave and fridge. Just perfection. - Clean common space. - Free breakfast and all day free tea/coffee/ chocolate - Location: close to Manhattan via subway/uber/taxi Cons: - Sketchy neighborhood. Hotel located in industrial zone and surrounded with projects. I would 100% recommend this hotel. A real gem. The best LaQuinta hotel I have been to in the US.

Beware this is no longer a hotel. I never received a notification about this hotel closing. I only found out when I called the number in the Wyndham app to ask about how to get to the hotel from the airport. A lady answered and hold me this is not a hotel. When I asked her is this a wrong number she said no, this used to be a hotel and now it is not. I called Wyndham customer service who were no help, the rep didn't believe me either until he called them himself. Wyndham has done nothing to recfiy this. I ended up booking another hotel with a different hotel chain, and am obviously paying more than I anticipated. Mind you I had this booking since September 2022. I'm glad I called before my trip.
