Place was great, walking distance from everything that you would need. Train system, restaurants, and Target. Front desk service is very professional, Divine was very helpful with all of our questions. Will be back. And would recommend to others.

I was able to check in a teeny early, since Jasmine took pity on this redeye flight passenger. This was a small boutique hotel, like if you're walking by and you blink, you'll miss it. BUT you can't beat that location. It's in the middle of everything. And when it comes to the sleep quality, I slept very well considering there's a siren going off every 2 seconds in the area. I rarely heard other neighbors and the housekeeping respected my do not disturb sign. The TV had decent stations, and the internet signal was strong. The water in the shower comes out HOT!! And there's a mini fridge which kept my waters and leftover Junior's cheesecake nice and chilled.· My room was very small, which is fine for one person, but 2 may be a bit crowded. The AC works but is LOUD!! The room was decent and clean, but I wish the hotel had a teeny more decor...like...for example....framed showcards on the walls. Like those nice signed ones where they raise money for Broadway cares/Equity fights AIDS. It's called Hotel Shocard, so why not? Everything about this hotel is small. The lobby is just a counter, the hallways and elevator are small (no key card needed, even though there's a thing for it in there), but I'm small so I was ok with it. My little room grew on me and became my little quiet sanctuary after barely escaping the craziness of Times Square. It's comfortable, cozy, and I was sad to leave. I'd love to stay here again.
Response from Property: Thank you so much for sharing your detailed and thoughtful review of Hotel Shocard! We're thrilled to hear that you found our small but cozy boutique hotel to be a comfortable sanctuary, and we're especially glad that Jasmine could accommodate your early check-in. We appreciate your feedback about the room size and AC, and we'll certainly consider your suggestions for adding a bit more decor to enhance the overall ambiance. It's fantastic to know that you enjoyed the central location, good sleep quality, and the amenities in your room, including the strong internet signal and hot water in the shower. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to the city, and we're delighted that Hotel Shocard left a positive impression on you. Best regards,

The pro's are: location, right across the street is the entrance of the subway. Room and bathroom was small but has a good and nice layout Friendly staff The con's are: No coffee/teamaker in the room (and they promissed to get a cettle for me but that never came) Curtains were 30 cm. too short Lounge/breakfast room is not very cosy They start early with the cleaning of the rooms so make sure that you hang out the Do not disturb sign
Response from Property: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on your recent stay at Hotel Shocard. We're pleased to hear that you appreciated our convenient location, friendly staff, and the layout of your room and bathroom. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the absence of a coffee/tea maker and the delay in providing a kettle. Your comments about the curtains, lounge/breakfast room, and the early start of cleaning are duly noted, and we will address these areas to enhance our guests' experience. We value your insights and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for an improved stay in the future. Best regards,

We booked this hotel sight unseen last min based on reviews after arriving in New York. 3 nights was quoted at $1100 which included taxes. When we got there we were sorely disappointed at the rundown appearance. Our room was loud and our window overlooked a roof top with some machinery on it that was making noise. We requested another room, which was the size of a closet. Seeing what the options were, we clearly did not want to stay here three nights. We were told that the one night rate was over $500 and that we will be stuck paying the one night fee if we canceled the reservation and didn’t stay there at all so we were stuck. The only positive was that the room was clean. When trying to get ice which we were told would come right up, we waited over an hour, made multiple calls and then were told that the person was painting and ice wouldn’t be available for several hours. Staff was rude and unresponsive. The price we paid was outrageous for the dodgy accommodations. We highly DO NOT RECOMMEND. Other options in the area of Times Square for less prices, service when needed, and views. Do your homework.
Response from Property: Thank you for sharing your experience at Hotel Shocard, and we sincerely apologize for the disappointment you encountered during your stay. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are genuinely sorry for any inconvenience caused by the room conditions, noise, and service lapses. We take your concerns seriously and will address them with our team to ensure improvements are made. We regret the inconvenience with the room change and the delay in providing ice. Your comments highlight areas where we need to enhance our services, and we appreciate your honesty. We understand your frustration, and we truly apologize for falling short of your expectations. We hope you might reconsider and give us another opportunity to provide you with a more positive experience in the future. Warm regards,

The room was small but it’s NYC so that’s expected. The bed was comfortable, shower was hot and staff was great. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It’s 1 block off Times Square so it’s quiet but extremely convenient. The theaters are all walking distance. The subway stop is across the street. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and will be staying here for my next trip to NYC

I checked into Hotel Shocard today & planned to stay for 5 nights. Location is great but when we returned from dinner, the entire 2nd floor smelled of ****. The smell permeated into our room. I’ve called front desk & asked Alonzo if we can change our room but was told there isn’t a room available. The windows in our room can’t he opened & we can’t air out the smell of ****. This is not only a health hazard but it’s also a fire hazard. So, so disappointing!!!

We stayed here for five days and the location is perfect for exploring. Having caught the Air Train and subway to NYC, the hotel was a few minutes walk from the station. Right next to Times Square but without hearing the noise that comes with it. There is currently no restaurant or bar at the hotel, however you are right next to hundreds of places to visit. The check in was quick and staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We stayed on the third floor, with our room at the end of the corridor. The rooms are small but they have everything you need, such as safe, hairdryer, toiletries, water and fridge. There are no tea making facilities but you can get complimentary tea/coffee near reception if you want to. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The only gripes we had were the constant smell of cooking oil in the room (and corridor), which must have been blowing from somewhere nearby. The second was a mechanical fan noise outside the bedroom window, which ran 24/7. Clearly outside of the hotels control but something to be aware of. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it if visiting New York.

Location. Location. Location. Doesn’t get much better than this at this price point. Located within sight of Times Square and 42nd Street, this proved to be the ideal place for the two of us on our holiday in New York. The start of our stay wasn’t great. No hot water, fridge didn’t work. We were moved to another room. This time fridge didn’t work and the noise from the air conditioner was overwhelming. Third time lucky, we settled into a comfy room on the 3rd floor. A big thank you to Mimi for being an excellent host and making sure we were comfortable and settled. The rooms although not spacious, were very clean and had all the amenities we required. Plus the room was very, very quiet. Each room comes with a bar fridge, ironing board, hair dryer, basic toiletries, safe, air conditioner, phone and plenty of power points for charging phones etc. Another big shout out to Franklin who was always there to help us and is such an amiable and friendly host. On one side of the hotel is a great place to dine and have a drink Gleason’s. On the other side Billy Crystal was performing. Buses on 7th Avenue only 60m away take you south of Manhattan. Buses on 6th Avenue only 150m away take you to Uptown. Would recommend Hotel Shocard.

Disclaimer: I booked via Hotwire, not knowing which hotel I would receive. Pros: The proximity to Times Square is amazing - literally about a 2-3 min walk. The beds were very comfortable and the room stayed cool. They offer discounted overnight parking ($40) at a structure about 1-2 blocks away. They also offered tickets to use at one of the local convenience stands for a free hotdog or panini bread. The hotel was clean the staff was friendly. From 9pm-7am you can only access the hotel with a room key. The shower was phenomenal! Fridge in room. Cons: The rooms are extremely small and dark. I took a shower with the bathroom door open and the entire room was filled with steam to the point that it set off the smoke alarm. The hotel has 50-60s style decor. The accent wall looked like paneling with holes in it. The bedding was a bit low to the ground. We were on the second floor so we were facing a brick wall. However, when we moved the blind there was lots of garbage outside the window. My daughters said there was a used condom outside their window. SN: Be sure you get a sticker from the front desk before picking up your car or you won’t receive the discount. We ended up paying $63 for the first night. We were not told that we needed one by the young lady that checked us in (she was extremely nice but new). However, we mentioned it as a reminder when checking out - explaining what happened - and they removed one of the daily convenience fees which evened us out. My husband and I didn’t mind it as we had been to NY before and stayed at the Marriott Marquis. We knew we would only be in the room to sleep. However, it was our girls (teenagers) first time and I would’ve preferred them to have a nicer room. Overall, I recommend it if you don’t mind the cons listed above and don’t plan to be in the room much.
Response from Property: Good morning ShayMarie81, thank you for your detailed review. We appreciate your time and feedback. It was a pleasure hosting your stay. We are pleased you enjoyed our facility, location and welcoming staff. Keep in mind we are a boutique Hotel in the middle of Times Square so all our rooms are generally petite. I unfortunately was not able to stay as I had planned due to a family emergency but I had the most pleasant experience with Franklin over the phone. He went above and beyond, and was able to help me cancel my reservation with short notice. We’re grateful for his time and patience, and we would be more than happy to book with Hotel Shocard next time.

From the moment we turned up until leaving, we had a wonderful stay 😊 The staff gave outstanding customer service, the rooms were comfortable and clean, a 5 min walk from the bus terminal, Broadway and Times Square and the bonus of being able to leave luggage was much appreciated for some last minute sightseeing unencumbered before heading to the airport. Thank you to all the staff for a great stay!

We enjoyed the Shocard! Great AC, beautiful little bathroom, and very comfortable bed. It was also very clean. Might I suggest though a chair or stool, so some seating is an option if you need a quick snack! I would stay here again!

I planned a trip to NYC month ago. I reserved this hotel with 'Pay when arrive'. 2 days before the flight they send a message at 7am that my payment did not get processed then at 9 am they released the room. Now i have no room because they are overbooked. There is was no call to correct the issue and not even a reasonable time to call back. Beware this hotels policy in this matter is garbage and you could be stuck with no where to stay 2 days before the trip. Obviously financial establishments block transactions out of state occasionally even if you request them to allow.
Response from Property: Good afternoon 399zacharys, thank you for your honest review. We appreciate your time and feedback. Please follow our cancellation policy when booking you may have overlooked the pre-authorization we take 48 hours in advance to your reservation to guarantee your stay. If the transaction declines at this time we will put your room up for resell. We apologize for any inconvenience you endured during your stay, however our guests are responsible for reading the confirmation email. We hope to host your stay again in the future. Safe travels back home. Yours in hospitality, Victoria Team Hotel Shocard

We didn't have high expectations of the Shocard after reading a couple recent reviews on here (btw, we had no issues getting our deposits back), but we were pleasantly surprised with our experience there. I must stress that the only reason this review isn't at five stars is the carpet in the room we stayed in. The hotel itself is a bit dark (stylistically), so if you are looking for spacious hallways and cheery colors, this probably isn't the place for you. Our room was awesome, though, with the exception of the carpet. The carpet needs to be replaced in the penthouse - it was torn in places and rippled all over. It was such a mismatch with the rest of the room, though...super comfortable bed, amazing bathroom, small wet bar area...that we were able to overlook it for the couple days we were there. The air conditioning unit did alright for us for being in the midst of a heatwave - we weren't able to get the room down below 73 degrees, but I think that's pretty good for a hotel air conditioning unit like the one we had in those weather conditions.. The staff were super friendly and helpful and definitely a highlight of our stay in NYC. And the location is unbeatable if you are wanting to be near Times Square but a bit away from the bustle. The walk from Penn Station if you are arriving by train is definitely do-able. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family who are traveling and looking for a great place to stay without incredibly high prices.
