Staff was friendly.

The manager was nice, but not around a lot. The maids were nice. There were no paper towels or napkins in the kitchen. The Garden room was roomy and the kitchen was ample, but the patio was trashed out and unusable. The patio needs a good cleaning out. The dining room table was about to fall down and the closet door was broken. Great location and value, but scruffy around the edges. Building is very secure.

Not clean

We loved our stay at Incentra. It’s an old brownstone with a lot of character, which is the exact experience we were looking for! We stayed in the Dakota room, which was lovely. It was cozy, roomy, and pleasant. The best part was the location. Within feet of coffee shops, bleeker street shopping, subway stations, fantastic restaurants, etc. We would absolutely come back and would recommend to anyone!

If you are looking for a true NYC experience in the heart of the extraordinary West Village neighborhood then this is the place! The rooms were clean and quaint, and our bed was very comfortable! Our son lived a couple blocks away, so this was perfect to be so close to him. Restaurants, pubs, shopping, subway stations, parks, and the river were all in close walking distance. We loved the inconspicuousness of the hotel. Made for an even more delightful stay. Looking forward to the next time!

It's quite hard to reconcile the 5 star reviews here with my experience. The first thing that intrigues you is a Vacate notice at the front door saying "The (NYC) Dept of Building has determined these building perilously unsafe.." (see picture). I thought maybe this was part of the experience- like a game?! And enter. Whilst reception manager/staffer was friendly - and said 'you dont know how many people ask me this..', he didnt care for my suggestion that Incentra should probably put a note next to it saying 'Don't worry- this is New York, its all good'. Nevertheless. I was warmly welcomed and was shown to my room. My Room- Washington, was an upgrade from another room I booked (was the original room in the perilous section? I dont know). So here is the summary: positives- the sheets were clean, the room was cleaned well and the cleaner actually came in and dusted and made the bed (worth the tip I left- must be v difficult for her/him/they). The negs: it's in a serious state of disrepair. The term shmeg comes to mind. You know when hotels these days cant be bothered to put a duvet cover on and use a throw that everyone has used and simply sandwiches it in sheets. Think that but the throw has seen everyone and some for three generations. The toilet didn't work- the chain flusher required mechanics- lifting lid, hand in toilet stuff. eeeew. I did call about it- was told just push (handle) harder. Er nope. Everything is so worn down, broken, frayed- dirty. At $350 pn (incl taxes) - given its New York west side, well thats what you will pay +: and I was flying solo and a seasoned traveller. I have seen some sights and stayed in some rooms- but not here again. Vacate.

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at this adorable historic tiny hotel in the Maine room. There is very easy access via the subway. It is in a quaint neighborhood with plenty of restaurants, bars and cute shops. The room faces the street, so as expected in NYC there is some street noise. The tall windows and skylight keep it bright. Having a separate kitchenette made the room feel more spacious. Daily service kept the room fresh and clean. The staff was great. Special shout out to Vincent who let us check in early and also check out late. Way better than staying at a non-descript chain hotel.

Had a lovely time here! Staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating to our needs. They exceeded expectations! The place is so charming as is the surrounding neighborhoods. The beds are slightly creaky but this is to be expected, still very comfortable. The bathrooms, specifically the showers were great! No vents so I recommend opening a window if possible. Room was clean, and turned over daily with new sheets/towels/etc. my only note is the manager could be a bit more gracious to the staff, who were kind and lovely. Will absolutely return!
