The daily amenity fee is 39.9 US dollars including tax, which must be paid. Drinks and food can be consumed in the minibar for no more than 25 US dollars. The problem is that a 750ml bottle of Evian is 16 US dollars, so I only saw this fee in this American hotel, which is very bad! The phone service was extremely slow to respond, not at all Intercontinental service standards. There are also random deductions from the credit card deposit, and one extra person's breakfast fee. I only said to apologize when I went to find it in person, and said that it would take 5 working days to return the same way. So this InterContinental is not recommended at all in New York! !

The first thing I will mention is that the hotel is 5 star and is expectedly, very expensive, being in the heart of Times Square. I took this into account when writing my review. If I am paying that much, my expectations would be higher than normal. I stayed for 12 nights over the Christmas and NY period so I obtained a very comprehensive view of the hotel and everything about it. Overall it was a very comfortable stay and the staff were always there to attend to any requests and issues. The moment I got out of my transfer car, there was a lovely young gentleman waiting to get all my bags and transport me upstairs to the reception. The check-in was reasonably flawless but there was a bit of confusion around the payment because of resort fees the hotel charges daily. I prepaid my booking and there was confusion over whether it included or excluded the resort fee. The reception area is immaculately presented and the bar and restaurant are both located here. I intended to use the gym during my stay, but didn't have time to even take a peek. Nor did I visit the bar or restaurant. There's way too many options outside to do that. The very polite and courteous young gentleman then took me up to my room. He showed me everything and away he went. I got a bit of a room upgrade which I highly appreciated and had a beautiful view of Times Square. I was on the 2nd highest floor, floor 39. The room is not big. It was adequate for one person but nothing more. I don't think I would be able to stay here if I was with another person. It would be too uncomfortable and I had to find space for my 2 suitcases and carry-on. The bathroom is open plan, with a door for the shower and toilet. A big problem I had in my room was that if it was windy you will hear a loud whistle coming through the bottom of the front door. It really annoyed me. I had to take the cover off the bed and make a snake shape to block the gap underneath the door to stop the noise. Even a bath towel didn't work. They need to fix this. The hotel is very new and the rooms are very beautifully equipped, presented and maintained. I was pleased to see that most of the things I requested before I arrived (some extra bath mats, bath towels, hand towels, face towels, mini fridge, bathroom scale) were mostly there upon arrival. I quantified the number of towels I needed as I was not getting any housekeeping during my 12 night stay but I did not get the quantity requested. I expected a bit more attention to detail for a 5 star hotel. Before I arrived I was asked if I was celebrating a special occasion and Guest Services pushed up my expectations as I was celebrating a special occassion and they said something nice, I assume maybe a cake or some alcohol would be waiting for me in the room. When I arrived there was nothing. And there was never going to be anything throughout my stay. I didn't mind and only remembered towards the end of the stay. Great location. But the service standards absolutely disappointed. In room telephone was not working and despite repeated complaints it was not repaired through my stay of 4 nights. So basically we had to go down all the way to reception every time we wanted something at the room. From toiletries to food to water. Even the front desk as well as the duty manager simply expressed inability to do anything about it Initially even some of the lights in the room were not working. Clearly one of the worst stays of my life at a big brand hotel All in all a big disappointment

Because the plane was late, I arrived at the hotel at 1 o'clock in the middle of the night. The lady at the front desk helped me to check in very quickly. It was the speed of New York. Hotel location is very good. About 5 minutes walk to Fifth Avenue, turn to Central Park, and the subway station will walk for 5 minutes. The hotel is a post-modern urban minimalist style, the room is good, very New York apartment feel, but the breakfast is a bit too casual, too simple, but the breakfast at the New York hotel is probably so good, it is a very good hotel

Room is a bit dark and it will be nice to have more lights, but since mine was on high floor it was ok when I opened the curtain. Friendliness is so-so, but not particularly unfriendly either. The hotel doesn’t seem to have any other facility like gym, pool or even a restaurant, but you can make your coffee and cocoa at lobby for free. There’s a small lovely balcony at the lobby as well. Overall happy with stay and will come back if I have chance.

Stayed here with a family in October 2022. The room size is generous by Manhattan standards, and we were able to see the Chrysler Building from our window. The room and the hotel in general are clean and well-maintained. The reception staff was friendly and courteous, quickly resolving a few minor issues for us. The breakfast variety is good, although it may be a bit crowded a little later in the morning. The elevators are fast, although sometimes you may have to wait a bit for them to arrive. The location is great for your general NYC tourist destinations. Nothing negative to say about this place, if the price is right, you are not likely to regret your choice.

We stayed here during our trip for five days. This was our first time in New York City and it was exceptional. Since it was the first time visiting, I spent weeks researching hotels looking at neighborhoods, reviews, room types, everything! I’m so happy we decided on The Gotham! From the front desk to the restaurant there were no issues. Everyone was very helpful, attentive, and kind. The pictures are exactly like the rooms. We stayed in the king balcony room on the back side of the building which was really cool and quiet. We also stayed in the queen balcony room because we didn’t do our dates correctly lol and thankfully they had a room open. Looking out on the balcony in the queen room was awesome. We are returning over Christmas and have rebooked the queen balcony room and I can’t wait! This room is noisier but it’s not to the point of not being able to sleep. My husband and I live in the country surrounded by cow fields so if I can sleep with the noise level anyone can!

My check list for a hotel: Good mattress, good pillows. Check. Clean room with adequate space. Check. Small table, a desk space, a good-sized bed. Quiet. Definitely check and that shouldn't be taken for granted in NYC. Decent gym. Check. And no crazy glitches. Yep, plenty of elevators, good water pressure, the HVAC worked fine etc. etc. I thought the staff was friendly and proactive -- I requested coffee capsules -- they arrived quickly, a lot of them, and some water bottles just in case I was thirsty. I wish they would just put coffee machines in rooms instead of having to ask for one, but it's not very hard to ask. Bonus points: I showed up at noon expecting to have to check bags but a room was available so that made things nicer. Some others seem to be complaining about lack of room service but that was working when I was there.

It is walking distance to Times Square but far enough away from the crowds, noise and craziness. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. There are some great restaurants within walking distance and the theatre district is about a 10 minute walk. Very convenient.

My husband and I live in the country surrounded by cow fields so if I can sleep with the noise level anyone can!
