Visited Killeavy Castle yesterday for family lunch. When we arrived we were very impressed by the surroundings and hotel entrance. The valet who took us to the hotel from the car park was v pleasant and friendly and first impressions of the hotel was excellent. However, things changed when we arrived at the bar! Despite having made a reservation we were left waiting for 45 minutes before our order was taken. I had relayed to a waitress that we were ready to order she merely said the kitchen wasn't ready? There were 7 waiting staff and 2 managers milling around. At no point did a manager approach us to apologise for the delay. Eventually an order was taken and out starters arrived. Starters were satisfactory. Two mains arrived with a delay with next 2. My son found a long blond rib of hair in his chicken goujons. I alerted the waitresses who took the food away. Absolutely no apology was given or no alternative meal offered. It was clear the manager was aware but did not approach us to ascertain if there was an issue.After a few minutes, I requested to speak to a manager who made what I would describe as a reluctant apology. He said he would not charge for the goujons - the ones returned with the hair! And also did not charge for a pint of beer. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. Food poor, staff in bar unfriendly, except one waitress.
