Reviews of Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Hotel Kinugawa Gyoen

It's a 10-minute walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station, and you can book the hotel's shuttle bus for your return trip to the station the next day after check-out. The room was quite spacious and comfortable, and the hotel isn't far from the iconic Big Staircase. The dinner buffet was plentiful, making this a great value-for-money option in the area.

I think this hotel is absolutely fantastic! It's very cozy and comfortable to stay in. The food is buffet style with a wide variety of choices, and they keep refilling everything constantly, so you don't have to worry about missing out. The hot spring is also huge! I will definitely come back to stay and enjoy it again next time.

The food was so delicious, ofuro was also relaxing. Amenities and view are so awesome. Highly recommend.

This hotel is truly wonderful, definitely worth staying at least once. The snow views are absolutely beautiful. I'll definitely come back again, and the breakfast was delicious. It'll be my top choice for my next trip to Japan!

No Wi-Fi in the room, and the air conditioning made a constant clacking noise all night, making it impossible to sleep. The restaurant served the exact same food every day; by the second day, I'd completely lost my appetite!

This guesthouse is much cheaper than the hotels next door. While it doesn't offer breakfast, the hot spring water is the same for all guests. We stayed in a Japanese-style room with a slightly elevated tatami bed.

This is an older hot spring hotel with rather dated facilities. The cleanliness of the in-room bathroom was subpar, and both the public bathhouse and open-air hot springs were quite small. The Western and Japanese buffet meals were of only average quality. Considering it's a hot spring hotel, the value for money was just mediocre.

The buffet meal was excellent and truly exceeded my expectations. I would suggest improving the privacy of the indoor and outdoor baths, as they felt a bit exposed from the outside. The attached photo is of the view from my room.

The room was super spacious, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. The facilities are quite old, but considering the price and the large room, it's great value for money.

I am very very unhappy about the service. We booked ‘last minute’ but the hotel (and trip) did not answer very clearly that there was no check-in after 19:00. We tried different times to mail and to phone the hotel to say we were late no one never answered. And we’re obliged to pay as ‘no cancellation’. The even not wanted afterwards to make a gesture on the cancellation fee (full price). We were obliged in last minute to find another hotel… very bad experience with this hotel.

While the building itself is a bit old, both the rooms and bathrooms were clean. Dinner and breakfast were served buffet-style, and for the price, it felt like excellent value for money. Being able to choose our own yukata was a delightful touch. It's about a 10-minute walk to the station, but a paid shuttle service is also available. They also offer amenities like a manga corner, karaoke, and table tennis. There's an on-site souvenir shop, and we enjoyed a 10% discount in the evening, making our purchases very affordable. I would definitely stay here again if I get the chance.
