Trivelles Regency, Nottingham

I really wish I'd paid attention to the negative reviews of this hotel before I booked. I paid £153 for a single night of misery here, when it seems other nights are about £35-40 -- but even at that cheaper price, I'd still avoid it like a plague. The hotel has no parking, and on-street parking was non-existent. The corridors on our floor reeked of smoke, with a hint of ********* smoke. On first glance, our room was fine. Decent size, big windows etc. However, closer inspection revealed: - red stains on the wall, that looked like some sort of jam but who knows. - brown stains on the wall, I shudder to think what these were - the tap on the kitchen sink was not securely attached to the sink and came off when i tried to use it - the shower cubicle smelled of raw sewage - the bathroom needed a deep clean, lots of (what looked like) pubic hair on the floor, and general 'shower gunge' build up - there was about 20% of a full toilet roll available, with no others provided - the bed was presentable, but had long black hairs inside and under the sheet - the sheet was way too small, and uncovered the mattress during use - the walls in the room were paper-thin Additionally, and I can't really blame the hotel for this, next door is a student bar that was very loud most of the night, but nothing compared to the people in the room next to ours that played very loud music until 1am. Not the relaxing night before a 13.1 mile run we wanted!

Bentinck Hotel

Nottingham City Center Nottingham|0.13km from Nottingham Train Station
This hotel has a very central location, almost on top of Nottingham station, so if you have an early train or you are there for the night life, the location appears to be good. If you are travelling to Nottingham, by car, not only does the hotel not have any parking, but the hotel is not reachable by road due to bus only zones in the very centre of the city. Parking is therefore limited to an NCP over the bus station or another car park near the railway station at high overnight cost. The rooms appear to be a reasonable size, but it was clear that the hotel had not had a refit for a number of years. The range did not have ensuite bathrooms, which is a fairly basic requirement when travelling with your family instead several rooms shared a toilet and shower. The floor tiles were actually coming loose in the shower and grouting has not been completed properly. The walls of the shower were dirty. The shower door was loose and would not move easily. The biggest problem at this hotel is the noise from the street. As you could see from the exterior pictures, the hotel is old-fashioned in appearance that has sash windows which do not shut out any noise from the street. Unfortunately, I found myself woken several times during the night from about 2 am and then completely unable to sleep from 5 am on a Sunday morning, when the nearby Tesco express had a food delivery from a truck which had a generator running. When I told the staff that I had not slept well , they immediately finished my sentence and said it must be due to the noise. They did not attempt to put it right. There was a continental breakfast which was okay. As soon as food coverings were removed, it was clear that flies were a problem in the breakfast room. I will not consider this hotel in the future.

Check in is a mild hassle. It's not the easiest to spot where it is (looks like a street house), and you need to pre book and be let in by a staff member, once you go through the usual pre-amble of checking in and being shown the room, I have 0 complaints. Room size was good, bed was excellent, and the bathroom was clean. Was quite happy with my stay, and can easily see myself staying there again next time. My stay was a 1 night thing, so I can't comment for holidays. But as a day trip, pretty much perfect for what I wanted.

Clean and comfortable room, clean bathroom, great location. No parking but as expected upon booking. Super friendly staff, warmly welcomed and that was hugely appreciated. No fault of hotel staff but electricity went off between 8.30am and approximately 10.30am on the day of departure. Electricity had been intermittent throughout the night. This was sadly a huge inconvenience to us, no showers, hot drinks, hairdryer or phone charging. One of those things but not what we paid for so have submitted a complaint. Don’t let that put you off though, as I said one of those things and the hotel is great. PLEASE SEE MY OTHER MELISSASMUMMY reviews, lost access to my original account.

Hotel is located very close to the train station and very convenient. Hotel looked nice and presentable upon entry. The room was of a good size. I booked a double but got a room that had a double and another bed which I believe was a smaller double or a single. It had ample space to walk around without feeling restricted. Upon initial observation the room looked perfect, however on closer inspection I did witness some wear and tear, which I guess can be expected but some areas requiring more attention. The bathroom sink tap was stiff and water flow was low unless you opened the tub taps first and then opened the sink taps. The door handle to the bathroom needed fixing, as did the flush button on the loo. It appeared clean but I noticed that the loo was not cleaned properly, some some urine stains noticed behind the lid and 1 or 2 hairs found in the tub. Service at reception was friendly. Didn’t have the breakfast so can’t comment. The lobby area was nicely decorated. I visited around Christmas and it has a nice Christmas tree in the corner and felt cozy. Would stay again if I was in the area.

Were relocated here after disastrous booking at Risley Hall. Turned up late, frazzled and extremely tired. Staff could not do enough - they upgraded our room, comped us breakfast that our bookers had missed off, and were genuinely helpful. After a good nights rest, breakfast was to die for - could have stayed forever - such choice and quality! Lunch and evening meals the same, quantity and quality and every staff member really friendly - we loved this place and would definitely book again. After settling bill, knowing we were returning to Scotland, they gave us bottled water (and choc) for the journey - how great is that - Thank you to all at this Hotel, you are amazing x

Hotel is very conveniently located for city centre, right next to Lace Market tram stop. A ten minute walk from railway station. Five minutes walk to Old Market Square. On the edge of Hockley with loads of restaurants and bars within a two minute walk. Car parking available in Lace Market Car Park opposite. Discounted price was £10 for 16h00 until 10h30 the next morning. Good value, particularly given its location.
Travelodge Nottingham Trowell M1

I didn't expect to be saying this about a motorway services motel, but actually this is the nicest Travelodge we've ever stayed in! Everything spotlessly clean, a spacious room with a welcome hot bath and a large and very comfy bed. Cheap too. Handy services for food and drink, open all hours. Perhaps the most surprising thing is that it was very peaceful - no traffic noise or any other disturbance through the night. Will remember this one if we ever have to break an M1 journey again.
