This hotel is probably the best in Tonga. It is on par with the mainland's homestay. It is too expensive for the local income.

Although the location is a bit far from town. But for those who drive by themselves. It's very convenient, it only takes five to ten minutes to drive to the town. As for fruit, there are two large supermarkets in the town. I went to the supermarket and bought some cold snacks. It was very comfortable to eat in the room facing the lake. The room was a lake view room and the scenery was very beautiful. It's a pity that the room only has dinner plates and no kitchen utensils. It would be more perfect if there are kitchen utensils.

The hotel service is acceptable, the room is not big, the room facilities are the domestic three-star hotel standard, there is a swimming pool, the sea view room is booked, the buffet breakfast has few varieties, but there is a road outside the hotel, see picture 10, there is a distance from the sea, the sea view is poor, The price of the hotel is ridiculously high, the external environment of the hotel is poor, not worth recommending

Passed thru Tanoa Tonga, unfortunately like the property in Samoa and all of them in Fiji, they have been refurbished cheaply, very cheaply, will allot of dark black paint on many decorative items. I would highly recommend you stay at other properties in Tonga and avoid Tanoa. Like the properties in Fiji and Samoa, linen was old, cheap Indian linen, mouldy, bathrooms were small and with cheap fittings, no hot water the whole time of our stay, air con was a hit and miss, rattled like the fridge did in our room, when we opened the fridge we found food from previous gusts and half drunk bottles of water, when we complained to the staff about how poor the standard of cleanliness of the room was they laughed it off. Restaurant food was greasy oily and deep fried. I would ACOID TANOA TONGA AT ALL COSTS. STAY ELESWHERE AND EAT ELSE WHERE. AVOID THIS CRAP.

I had a good stay here, my unit was nice and clean. I was surprised by some negative comments, and at first, was leery about staying here. I only had positive interactions, though. The restaurant buffet was good and staff friendly. I recommend it.

Stayed here after Staying at the Tanoa Fiji. Again more MOTEL THEN HOTEL. Location poor. Rooms cheap, old, mouldy, air con did not work and when it did work it rattled all night long. Showers small, mould in the bathrooms. Hit and Miss when it came to cleaning the room, one day room never got serviced, old linen, you can smell it, pillows old, beds sag. Cheap dirty old rooms. Food non existent so your better to eat off site, heaps of many places in Tonga to go and dine. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights, arriving before 2AM, after a transfer from the Tonga Airport. The night manager quickly confirmed payment and accommodated our need for sleep. The spacious room had everything a couple could want; a comfortable queen, quiet AC with remote, nice TV with 8 channels (CNN/ABC/ESPN), closet with refrigerator/hot pot and a bathroom with glass shower and quick hot water. The 6:30AM breakfast buffet was well attended and very good - fruit, juices, muesli, egg station, pancakes, baked beans, pastries and regular coffee. Amenities included good wifi, a nice gym and a clean 20m pool. There is an array of quality traditional wood carvings and artwork throughout. Just 2 blocks SW to the central city's Talamahu Market. At reception everyone was friendly and Lena was particularly helpful to schedule a rental car and help iron out other details.

in defense of this ugly monolith, i’d just come from a lovely small hotel. My taxi driver was an older lady so I asked for help with my luggage when I arrived. The front desk said okay but no one emerged and I was only offered a trolly, somewhat like I was at a Holiday Inn. I was the only one checking in but the woman spoke so fast I had to ask her to repeat everything. I lugged my luggage onto the trolly and went in a futile search for my room. The floors are a little different than in the US and I was on the wrong floor. An employee in the hallway saw me struggling to get down a steep ramp and took pity on me and helped me find my room and bring in my bags. The room is modern and clean. I didn’t like the smell and tried to turn on the air conditioner which I couldn’t turn on. it wasn’t until I came back from lunch that I saw you had to insert your key at the entrance for power. This would’ve been nice to know. i appreciate the eco aspect, but if I hadn’t known this from previous hotels I’d still be turning lights on and wondering why they don’t work. The only option for lunch was the pool bar, reminiscent of any beach resort you’v e been to in FL or the Caribbean. Home of the small menu and $15 hamburger. If a large Euro/USA style hotel is what you’re looking for, this place is for you. Complete with the guys on their laptops in the lobby. There is a nice large pool which is a plus. If you want to feel you’re in a foreign country, let’s say Tonga, there are better options which are more affordable as well. This hotel was chosen by the tour company I’m starting with tomorrow. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here. My tiny salad and weird cheese bread was so bad, I’ll take a taxi back to where I was to have dinner.

We stayed 4 nights waiting for a flight to Vava’u. The hotel was very accommodating with our need to stay longer. Huge breakfast included, great pool, restaurant for hotel guests. Not knowing this resort we booked House of Tonga for our return. Big mistake. They wouldn’t allow us a refund of one night when our flights changed, non refundable for House of Tonga. If we’d been able to we’d cancel and return to Tanoa where we had a great experience. We even did a load of laundry. Highly recommend Tanoa. AC works great, clean rooms, friendly staff.

The staff was courteous and friendly. They were very attentive and worked hard to please the guests. The onsite restaurants served delicious food though limited. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend this hotel if staying in Nuku'alofa.

It's the most hotel hotel in Tonga, and it's fine. The staff really do work hard to help the guests be comfortable. The food is pretty good. The pool is fine. The breakfast is substandard, but my expectations are very high after living in Thailand. The rooms are pretty good though some furniture is shabby and the railings on the porches need repainting. All around, a solid, fine hotel.

The hotel is the most expensive vs quality and service that I've even seen and absolutely inflexible with reservations. I'd a problem with my flight because BA delays, I told them 2 days before arriving and they didn't accepted any reason to cancel those 2 nights, even being my stay in total 16 days. However, I noticed at arrival that they used the room at least the night before ... So they got the money twice. Very irresponsible cheating customers this way. I also asked to cancel the last 2 nights, and again they didn't accepted that, very ugly. The room seems clean, but curtains are really dirty, and in a couple of nights, I found cockroach in the bathroom. The bathroom has open windows (no curtains) to the corridor, so light goes into the room all the time in the night. And the worst is the noise, you can hear anything from the corridors, swimming pool, etc. They offer a restaurant, but is closed for restoration since long time ago, I was told. So you can get some basic dishes at the lobby bar, but be aware of the delays. One of the nights it too me over 110 minutes to get my burger, yes just a burger. A couple in the next table seated around 1 hour after me, and they ordered also a burger, which arrived faster than mine. Mi complains during the waiting time resulted in nothing, just excuses. I told them I will not pay for that, and I didn't. The breakfast has very few choices, no fruits other than papaya, some days banana. Yogurt is like a shot, so small! No pastries, just banana bread, and some days small muffins (which are the best, I must say). However there is also a very good thing: my congratulations to the eggs station team, the best omelettes that I've tried since long time ago! If you like cold water for the shower, you will never find it. The cold tap is over 25C all the day thru. I've noticed as well that they don't have sufficient towels, as everyday they need to collect my own towels to do laundry and return to me. Often they forgot to bring me back the small one ... Last but not least, one of the last days, they had a party with a big orchestra most of the day going thru. The music was so loud that I can heard it in the corner of the following block of the hotel. Of course as you can guess, in the room was impossible to stay. I accepted that during the afternoon, but in the evening/night (past 22) wanted to call reception to complain because I couldn't sleep. The phone was broken, they can't heard me, I can heard thru the phone the loud noise of the party from the reception. They sent a security guy to my room to check what was going on, and then we discovered that the phone cable was broken. He promised that the will stop the music (they could actually close the doors of the meeting room holding the party) but they never did. I was about to call the police, but I was too angry and preferred to stay working overnight than have a trouble before departing. It is unacceptable that they allow a party that disturbs the res

I stayed in Nuku'alofa on business for one week and felt realxed and rested every morning to face the business day. Excellent breakfast to look forward to each morning and cold berevages at the evening return. Recommend to anyone on business or pleasure to stay here. Malo.

I stayed there for 4 nights due to an Wedding held at Tanoa and my in-law’s booked a room on the same floor where they were also shocked to see cockroach’s fly out of the hair dryer. This Hotel is unhygienic and the concern around cockroaches transmitting diseases like dysentery, salmonella and diarrhoea formulates agitation around eating food in their Menu and not wanting to eat/sleep in the room that I paid $400.00/night for. I did order over $200.00 worth of food in front of the kitchen and ate there and the food wasn’t worth the $ (I wished to have walked next door to Emerald Restaurant and try food on their menu). Extremely disappointing Tanoa Dateline Hotel Tonga👎🏾
